Chapter 1629: S-Class Bounty

Chapter 1629: Chapter 1629: S-Class Bounty

Don’t underestimate the increase of one bounty tier. It means an additional level’s worth of bounty rewards.

You should know, for a race-level boss, every level of increase means significantly higher rewards.

This mutated and powerful monster, although its rank is lacking, is exceptionally strong due to its mutation. The elevation by one tier has still attracted masses of players.

Because of the previous Abomination incident, this time, solo players are strictly prohibited from accepting the task; at least the strongest ten-person teams are required.

"Reputation must reach Friendly, and military contribution points need to exceed 3,000 before you can accept this bounty." The Command Staff Department made the corresponding adjustments.

Suddenly, all the latecomer elites, who avoided tasks early on to cherry-pick better ones later, were left deeply disappointed.

You acted high and mighty in the beginning, so naturally, the good tasks won’t come to you. You claim to be an elite, claiming to have strength? Plenty of players are strong—one less of you won’t matter.

With a direct benchmark, tiers are differentiated, and there’s no need for the Withered Sun Legion to maintain order themselves. Teams and players that achieved high scores will naturally defend their own interests.

The official issuing the tasks sneered as he watched players depart to accept ordinary tasks. Everyone wants good tasks—if you don’t start with the ones you disdain, who will give you the good ones?

Good tasks—who doesn’t want them? But what about the ordinary ones?

"It’s unfair! Why can the Starfire Team pick whatever tasks they want?"

"Exactly! Just look at their reputation and military points—they’ve already hit Respected tier this quickly, while I’m still stuck at Friendly!"

"It’s all because their guild leader is your legion commander. Favoring them blatantly is outright cheating!"

Someone spoke using magic, making it impossible to determine who it was.

An officer from the Command Department stepped up and sneered, "No one’s forcing you to join the tasks. If you’re not happy, feel free to keep spectating. If you want the same privileges as Starfire, fine—just field a 300,000-strong elite close-combat legion equipped with premium gear under Withered Sun, and we’ll offer you the same opportunities. Otherwise, shut your mouths."

Everyone was dumbfounded. This had to be a joke—300,000 elite soldiers? They’d seen the Boar Legion before, and even at the lowest, they were Silver Elite level, with plenty of leaders among them too.

This wasn’t a laughing matter. Sure, powerful guilds might manage a 300,000-strong elite force, but that would be their entire foundation—using them as cannon fodder would be ludicrous.

On top of that, where would they even get 300,000 sets of elite-grade military gear? This wasn’t something a mere ten or twenty thousand Gold Coins could fix. Even with money, it’s impossible to buy this type of quality!

They instantly fell silent.

"Heh, you’ve got quite the imagination. The legion belongs to Prairie Fire; he’s using his own troops to protect his own forces, naturally, he can afford to be generous. As for us—on what grounds should we give?" someone else said using magic.

Everyone paused for a moment—true enough. No matter how you looked at it, it was still his legion, and naturally, he came out as the big winner every time.

A few high-contribution players couldn’t help but chuckle coldly. "You don’t even dare to show your face? Dreaming of benefits without putting in effort? Where in the world does such a thing exist?"

"Whose side are you on?" the magical voice continued.

"I’m on the side of reason. Why don’t you jeer at other legions? Because you’re just jealous of Prairie Fire. If you’re not participating in tasks, then get lost. No one’s begging for you to stay."

"Exactly! Cowards hiding their heads while wagging their tails—shameful. If you know that Withered Sun and Starfire Guild are one family, then obviously, they’d favor their own! Who the hell would give their best resources to outsiders instead of their own? Only an idiot, right?"

"Look at you, selling out for just a tiny bit of Starfire’s favor!" The player using magic still continued to provoke.

An officer sneered, "Idiot. Your first few words we could tolerate, but running your mouth here in front of this many Mages shows a desire to die."

A Mage holding a special Magic Orb pointed at a team and declared, "They’re the ones."

The officer waved his hand. "Expel them. Issue an Elven Expulsion Order. From today onward, all members of this guild will no longer be welcomed by the elves. All reputations with the High Elves are reset to zero."

Suddenly, a spell cast from who-knows-where enveloped the team precisely without any collateral damage, giving them no chance to explain themselves.

The players around burst into gasps, once again witnessing the aggressive authority of the Withered Sun Legion. Issuing such a command—banning entry to High Elf territories—would indeed be a severe loss. Many Elite Professional Instructors are High Elves, and learning skills in the future would be impossible for them.

"Hand out the task to this one." The officer pointed at the first player who had spoken in favor of Withered Sun.

This was but a small incident, one that Li Yao wasn’t even aware of. Yet this minor event was enough to completely suppress anyone trying to stir chaos.

Whether it was bribed troublemakers or those just displeased with Starfire, all were subdued—specializing in handling dissent.

Afterward, the great battle went quite smoothly. While the mutated monster was formidable, it couldn’t stir up much of a storm in the face of team sieges and combined efforts with the army. It posed no threat to the direction of the war.

Even when consecutive race-level Undead leaders appeared, there were simply too many elite players present. Tasks became so fiercely contested that the main forces didn’t even need to intervene.

Each such task was quickly snapped up, with teams mobbing and killing the targets. The main army barely had to lift a finger.

"Commander, take a look. Their Great Alchemist is attempting a breakout to the southwest. They’ve deployed numerous Plague Carts, and there are many powerful figures escorting them," Morning Wind indicated as she zoomed in on the southwest area of the battle map.

"It must be their research results. I didn’t expect there to also be 50,000 Death Knights. Quite the grand setup."

"Should we deploy our main forces to intercept? I’m afraid the rookie troops won’t be able to hold them off," Morning Wind asked.

"They aren’t transporting much. Intercepting such an elite unit would cost us dearly. The real battle hasn’t started yet—it’s not worth it. Issue an S-tier bounty to let them understand the danger of this mission. Whoever wants to take it, let them. I’ll send a secret unit as support. Keep the main force on standby," Li Yao responded.

Morning Wind nodded and conveyed Li Yao’s orders to the messengers. The orders were direct, leaving nothing ambiguous, sparing her from personally running around.

Soon, she noticed countless Flying Bugs appear over the legion. Their silhouettes were faint and quickly dispersed, vanishing into thin air. Though she didn’t know Li Yao’s strategic intentions, she was well aware of the bizarre nature of his insect army.

Li Yao, on the other hand, had set his sights on the 50,000 Death Knights. Death Knights were one of the trump units of the Scourge Legion, equipped with their own Air Fortress and training bases, directly under the Lich King’s command.

Controlling them outright was impossible, but parasites made things much simpler. The parasites could directly consume and fuse with their souls.

Even across the entirety of Daisom, there were probably only around 100,000 Death Knights in total. Li Yao had no intention of letting them slip away. Parasites weren’t for controlling elites—they were meant to dominate trump cards.

The first S-tier bounty from the Withered Sun Legion was issued, driving players into a frenzy. Commanders repeatedly warned that this task was extremely dangerous, urging players to think carefully. But the allure of an S-tier bounty was simply too great...
