Chapter 1627: Solar Corona Temple

Chapter 1627: Chapter 1627: Solar Corona Temple

The Solar Corona Temple holds great significance for the High Elves historically.

The High Elves once settled in Tirisfal Forest near the Undead Capital, preparing to thrive and multiply there.

However, powerful mages within their race detected something extremely peculiar beneath that land, suspected to be the sealed domain of an ancient god.

The High Elves continued migrating northward, with Ghost Land located in the southern part of Silvermoon Forest.

The High Elves first established camp at the Solar Corona Temple, founding the Silvermoon Council there and conferring the surname "Sunstrider" upon their strongest leader at the time, crowning him as king at this very site.

Though later battles erupted here due to its proximity to the Trolls, forcing the capital to migrate further north, the temple retained its significance as the coronation site of the first Sun King and as a critical strategic point. The High Elves established an essential magic node here, its magical currents attracting numerous magical creatures.

During the Scourge invasion, this site resisted the Undead Legion for several months, preventing them from advancing an inch.

The queen, then the supreme military commander of the High Elves, led the defenses during that devastating battle, which saw the Windrunner Family exhaust its resources and suffer the loss of nearly all its elite warriors at the temple.

After the Scourge retreated, the High Elves, amidst economic collapse and recovery efforts, lacked the means to regain the temple. It became a vital alchemical workshop for the Undead, teeming with Gargoyles, Abominations, and various alchemical machinery powered entirely by the Sunwell’s magic node.

Moreover, the Withered Sun Legion saw the temple as a key checkpoint on their path to Daisom. Capturing it meant eliminating the threat of rear attacks.

Currently, the Ghost Land’s strategic situation is deeply complicated. The Light Faction has intervened, while Trolls remain unpredictable in their actions.

The Tower of the Windwalker has been overrun by Undead from a different dimension, adding to the severity of the situation alongside Daisom.

No opposing factions are weaker than the Withered Sun Legion, particularly Daisom and the Undead from the alternative dimension, whose forces are heavily concentrated.

Fortunately, the latest intel reveals that Daisom’s Undead and the Undead from the Tower of the Windwalker have fought several battles recently for unknown reasons.

Contrary to Li Yao’s concerns, the two factions have not allied themselves, offering the only somewhat optimistic news.

Thus, capturing the Solar Corona Temple is imperative—not only for military purposes but also from a strategic perspective.

The magic node serves as a critical energy source for the Withered Sun Legion, and their conquest of the Ghost Land is merely the beginning.

The legion intends to transform this site into their domain, establishing it as a successor to the Windrunner Family’s legacy and as a bulwark for their kingdom.

Even before arriving at the battlefield, the sounds of fierce combat were already audible, a clear sign that Tongtong had led the vanguard army into ferocious clashes with the enemy.

Li Yao positioned his forces on a hill overlooking the battlefield, allowing a commanding view of the action below.

From the vantage point, the remnants of the temple’s ruined buildings could still be faintly discerned, evoking visions of its former splendor and the brutal battles it had endured.

Tongtong was leading a contingent from the Starfire Guild in combat against a wave of Undead forces, while players from the Dark Camp had summoned their own legions to join the fight.

Surprisingly, it wasn’t just the Undead army participating. A group of masked players, clearly using transformation artifacts, along with their summoned legions, joined the fray to target the vanguard forces.

The sheer number of Gargoyles in the air inflicted devastating losses on the ground troops.

The vanguard army and player brigades found themselves in a dire predicament.

"Fresh recruits! Some new soldiers have defected to the Scourge Legion," the adjutant sneered coldly. "I wonder which race’s scum they are—every race is the enemy of the Scourge Legion!"

Li Yao shook his head slightly. "They’re using transformation tools and concealed cloaks. It’s almost impossible to discern their original race. If my guess is correct, they’re enemies from my own territory who dread seeing me rise to become the legion commander. That’s why they’ve joined the Undead Army."

"Then they deserve death, regardless of their race!" Morning Breeze waved his hand as several mages began casting spells.

A sand table appeared, presenting a scaled-down version of the battlefield. The miniaturized terrain and troop positions allowed clear observation of the tactical situation and subtle changes.

"Commander, I request to lead the Spell Breaker Legion into battle," said the vice commander of the Spell Breaker Legion loudly.

Li Yao assessed the situation before pointing northward with his wand. "The northern flank is occupied by the enemy’s Banshee Legion. Take the Spell Breaker Legion to contain them. I’ll assign an additional fifty thousand steel insects and fifty thousand mages to follow your directives."

"Understood." The Spell Breaker vice commander took the command token and swiftly mobilized troops. A number of players eager to clash with the Banshees joined the legion as well.

"General Starry Sky, I’m assigning you fifty thousand Dragonflies to bolster the aerial forces. Your task is to stop the enemy’s Gargoyles from massacring our ground troops. My two battle companions, Firehawk and Little Savage, will coordinate with you in combat." Li Yao handed over another command token.

Carter Starry Sky, vice commander of the aerial forces, was thrilled. Though he had initially arrived with no direct subordinates, expecting no more than minor contributions, the opportunity to lead the Dragonfly Army on the battlefield—alongside Li Yao’s powerful companions—filled him with excitement.

He had witnessed firsthand the devastating might of Firehawk and the seemingly harmless Little Savage during past boss-kill competitions.

A swarm of Dragonflies launched into the air, aided by Wehrmacht-issued commands for players equipped with aerial units to summon their forces and join the fray.

The deployment of both groups turned the tide of the battle for the Withered Sun Legion, stabilizing the front lines and initiating a counteroffensive.

The Spell Breaker Legion, innately suited to counter spellcasting professions, thoroughly suppressed the Banshee Army’s capabilities.

Meanwhile, the Dragonfly Army displayed extraordinary ferocity in the skies.

As magical creatures enhanced through reinforcement, the Dragonflies, now leader-level entities, were several times stronger than before.

Their defenses, once relatively fragile, were bolstered through metal forging, while their claws and teeth were transformed into sharp metallic blades through weapon refinement.

Though Gargoyles, being alchemical creations, were durable due to their stone composition and runic augmentations, they paled in resilience compared to the sharp metal-clad Dragonflies.

The Gargoyle forces crumbled against the piercing metallic assault, while the vice commander of the Dragonfly Army—a faction-tier leader—dominated the aerial battlefield.

Assisted by Little Savage, Firehawk, and Star Shine, the opposition’s Goblin Eater Hero suffered tremendously in the skies, gradually succumbing to relentless attacks. Defeat was inevitable.

"It’s those Inkfish Guild scumbags again—they’re provoking us deliberately," Qin Fengyi remarked to Li Yao, showing him an email.

The email was sent by the vice president of Inkfish, containing an image of the temple engulfed in flames under the sun’s glare.

Depicted in the image was a massive black octopus, its tentacles menacingly stretched toward the faint flames in the sky.

Li Yao shook his head slightly. "He still doesn’t understand the chasm between us..."
