Chapter 1625: Whirlwind

Chapter 1625: Chapter 1625: Whirlwind

Under Time Deceleration, Li Yao naturally felt everything around him slow down dramatically, especially this time. With his ability enhanced, the Time Deceleration now lasted a full second. A second was more than enough for him to accomplish a lot.

But from the perspective of others, Li Yao, who had been bound by chains, suddenly released dozens of feathers.

The Abomination was forced to divert the fatal strike intended for Li Yao toward the feathers. What unsettled them even more was the sheer strength of the feathers—unusually formidable and immensely powerful.

The feathers were so strong that even the Abomination, known for its ferocity, had to retreat. But if it had only been that, it might have been acceptable.

Then, as if accelerating, Li Yao transformed into a blur.

Enveloped by his wings, he spun wildly and pierced through the Abomination’s body, as well as the mutated creature standing behind it.

Slash, slash, slash, slash, slash...

Li Yao moved like a whirlwind of smoke, continuously slicing through the Abomination’s body.

In truth, Li Yao was repeatedly using Whirlwind Charge under the effects of accelerated time.

Suddenly, he stopped. His wings folded, and time returned to normal.

At that moment, the shattered fragments of chains flew apart, while the Abomination and the mutated creature lowered their heads to examine their bodies.

The Abomination’s eyes glimmered with disbelief. It tried to speak but couldn’t utter a word.

Both its body and the mutated creature’s body bore several large holes. Moments later, their bodies crumbled into heaps of ash, consumed by crimson flames.

Li Yao grabbed the two rare Crystals floating before him, intertwined tightly together.

"So this was once the soul of a twin-headed Ogre, split into two—one turned into an Abomination, the other a mutated creature. No wonder they fought with such synergy."

This was a great treasure—a super soul Crystal that could be refined and enhanced through alchemy. It possessed tremendous versatility and was so rare that even Li Yao considered it a priceless gem, something he wouldn’t trade even for the finest dark-gold item.

Then, a golden pillar of light descended from the heavens. Killing two bosses in a row, combined with the frenzy-level bonus of Level 9 and his impending level-up, instantly propelled Li Yao’s experience by more than 20%, advancing him to Level 57.

Additionally, as a Warlord, being killed by Li Yao dropped one golden piece of War Equipment and three purple ones—not a bad haul. While Li Yao didn’t particularly need them, the other members of his guild certainly did, as purple-grade War Equipment was always in high demand, not to mention golden-grade.

Li Yao nonchalantly collected the spoils of battle, but the battlefield fell into a brief silence. Not only on Li Yao’s side but even among the Undead, every single one stood frozen in shock.

The imperious, overbearing Abomination had just been killed like that?

These entities had held them off for more than an hour, killing countless elite players in the process, and not a single one could subdue the Abomination. Now it had been annihilated so thoroughly that not even its corpse remained. The reality felt too surreal, too unbelievable.

If Li Yao had engaged in a three-hundred-round duel with the Abomination—whether killing it or being defeated—they would have accepted it.

But this? The clash was barely initiated, and it was already over.

"Is Prairie Fire really that strong?" someone murmured.

Frost stared fixedly at Li Yao, who was busy gathering loot, with an expression full of complex emotions.

"Guild Leader, I’m quitting the guild. I’ll leave after this large-scale event," she said.

The handsome male player beside her visibly darkened, his face turning grim in an instant. "To Starfire?"

Frost nodded resolutely. "I thought that by staying away from Starfire, I could still grow as strong as Prairie Fire. But after today, you’ve seen it yourself—the Abomination who effortlessly defeated me was slaughtered like plaything by him."

"It’s just his wings that are powerful..." The handsome guild leader spoke, but even he didn’t believe his own words. Everyone who went up earlier had their trump cards, yet they were all slaughtered. Only Frost, despite her defeat, had managed to preserve her life.

The other guild members looked at the leader with sympathy. Everyone knew he fancied Frost, but now she wanted to join Starfire.

The handsome guild leader felt utterly powerless. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t even match Frost, let alone earn her affection.

His heart felt like a knife was twisting inside, seared by rage but left with nowhere to vent.

Revenge against Starfire? They were just a minor guild. Against Starfire’s army of talented players, the comparison was laughable.

Cause chaos for the Legion? That was even more ridiculous, as the bodies of those who dared to cause problems were still displayed in the plaza.

Besides, it was Frost who wished to join Starfire. Prairie Fire and Starfire had no involvement, leaving no grounds for retribution.

It wasn’t just them. Almost none of the players present could accept the fact that a boss this overwhelming had been obliterated.

But no matter how much anyone struggled with disbelief, the facts remained.

"Kill, kill, kill, kill!"

When the Abomination was alive, this segment of the Undead Legion operated with precision and control. But with the Abomination now dead, there was no one to suppress their primal instincts.

The horde of Goblin Eaters closest to Li Yao charged toward him maniacally.

"Men, stand with the Legion Captain—kill!" shouted Withered Sun, the Guard Captain, charging forward at full speed.

"Kill, kill, kill!"

Having recovered their senses, the Withered Sun Divine Guard Army roared wildly. With a legion captain this domineering, victory was guaranteed.

The Divine Guardians also joined the fray.

Meanwhile, Li Yao finished organizing the loot but did not return to the group. Instead, he turned to face the countless Goblin Eaters charging toward him.

With his hands clasped behind his back, he stood calmly, watching the frenzied Goblin Eaters barrel down on him.

In the blink of an eye, the nearest Goblin Eaters had reached him.

Several Goblin Eaters shrieked, leaping high into the air, their claws glowing red as they dived toward Li Yao.

Clang, clang, clang...

The metallic wings Li Yao had only recently retracted spread open once more and clashed together.

Splat, splat, splat...

The Goblin Eaters were torn apart instantly by the metallic wings.

But this was only the beginning. Soon, more than a dozen Goblin Eaters sprinted toward him.

They met the same fate, shredded by vibrating wings, leaving behind heaps of gore.

Then came dozens of them, and still, they were annihilated. Then hundreds poured out.

One after another, the Goblin Eaters charged at Li Yao without fear of death.

Finally, hundreds of Goblin Eaters swarmed him, creating a massive mound of bodies.

Li Yao’s figure was completely buried at the bottom.

The Divine Guard Army was still about ten seconds away, their faces filled with frantic urgency. Some players, however, allowed smirks to cross their faces.

No matter how powerful you are, what’s the point? Maybe you can handle a dozen, twenty, even a hundred enemies—can you defeat hundreds or thousands of Goblin Eaters at once? That’s the power of sheer numbers. No matter how mighty, you’ll end up dead against an army of lackeys.

If anything, you brought this on yourself by being too arrogant. Killing one Abomination doesn’t make you invincible.

Many players showed gleeful satisfaction, and the handsome guild leader couldn’t resist laughing.

He was painfully relieved. If there were ever a case of someone flaunting their invincibility only to meet disaster—this was it. Pride really does invite destruction.

But... had Li Yao really been killed?
