Chapter 1622: Chapter 1622: Overbearing

Li Yao arrived at the forefront of the support legion, and in the distance, the sounds of battle shook the heavens. Clearly, a guild or team had taken on the task here and was now engaged in fierce combat against the suddenly appearing undead army.

Unlike the wandering zombies, this was the regular army of the undead. The standard Goblin Eaters were paired with the meat-grinding Hate Legion, while the air force comprised ten thousand elite Gargoyles.

Gargoyles are the standard air force of the Undead Legion. They are products of alchemy, created by the undead who possess vast resources, turning Gargoyles into an army, making them an undeniably powerful air force.

In the sky, ten thousand Gargoyles battled against tens of thousands of mixed air forces. Calling them a mixed air force was appropriate since, at this stage of the game, having air troops was very rare.

Only a few super guilds could field organized forces of the same type. For current players, the mainstream in aerial combat was a motley mix of different units.

In truth, having even random air forces was fortunate—smaller guilds didn’t even have any air forces at all.

Though mixed, their numbers were undeniable. Even though the Gargoyles were elite, it still took them considerable time to break through tens of thousands of these air forces.

The key battle, however, was on the ground. Originally, despite the undead army’s elite status, the land forces had lost some momentum following the cooling of the earlier war mode craze. Players were no longer blindly expanding their legions.

Instead, they began adopting precision troop plans. When conditions allowed, armies began prioritizing quality over quantity.

This time, the task wasn’t assigned to just one team. Multiple factions had come together, and upon witnessing the formidable might of the opposing force, their armies had managed to contend against the undead army.

However, amidst it all, no one seemed capable of curbing the rampage of the colossal Abomination.

Abominations themselves already possessed immense size, stitched together from the corpses of various creatures. But this particular Abomination was clearly composed of the remains of exceptionally powerful monsters, giving it an enormous body and formidable physique. This Goblin Eater stood nearly ten yards tall and wielded boundless strength.

It rampaged across the battlefield as if it were in an uninhabited realm, swinging its pair of Giant Cleavers with reckless abandon. Any soldier in its path was instantly dissected, flesh and blood flying wildly.

It resembled a blood-red whirlwind, and trailing it closely was a shadow-like, grotesque and twisted creature that moved in lockstep. This monster’s main abilities included corrosion, tentacles, and devouring, and the two working together were utterly unstoppable.

"Monster, don’t act wildly—I’ll fight you!"

As the saying goes, heavy rewards create brave warriors. And with their legion being slaughtered by the Abomination, there was no way the team’s group leaders could remain idle in their fury.

A warrior launched a huge leap, soaring over countless soldiers and landing directly in front of the foe.

Mid-air, his body expanded dramatically, transforming into a gigantic figure. He was a Mountain Warrior.

However, he had evidently reached an advanced stage—his body was clad in a gleaming layer of azure Rock Armor, making him appear even more imposing and majestic than ordinary Mountain Warriors.

"Wow, he’s actually an advanced Mountain Warrior. So powerful, so domineering." A female player sighed, marveling at the full-body azure Rock Armor. "Brother, look at him—he’s progressed faster than us in quest completion. Advancing to this stage means he can start exploring the Path of the Elite, right?"

The female player’s brother protested, saying, "Path of the Elite? You’re joking. Other than members of the Starfire team, have you even heard of anyone starting quests for the Path of the Elite yet? But I am considering switching to this branch class—it’s the Green Peak Mountain Warrior specialization. Its defenses are incredible; it can last over an hour at a time. The cooldown is only an hour and a half, and it can be canceled at will with independent cooldown tracking. It’s very powerful."

Boom...

The Mountain Warrior landed, and the earth cracked beneath him. About a dozen Goblin Eaters were sent flying like rag dolls. While airborne, their decaying flesh could not withstand the force of the shockwave, falling off before their bones shattered. As they collapsed in mid-air, it created a rain of rot and splintered bones.

"Incredible strength—just one seismic jump wiped out over a dozen full-health elite Goblin Eaters."

"Holy crap, that’s insane!"

Spectating players displayed expressions of awe. This pure, overwhelming power was deeply breathtaking. Although skillful techniques were aesthetically pleasing, it was raw, volitional force that most stirred the human heart, igniting their bloodlust.

"Just a mere Mountain Warrior. Too bad you’re not a true Mountain Giant—how could you possibly be a match for me, Bone Demon?"

The Abomination, known as Bone Demon, revealed an eerie smile, crushing the skull of a soldier in its grasp. As it savored the blood, it stared mockingly at the Mountain Warrior.

"You’re destined to be nothing more than my trophy."

The Mountain Warrior’s body radiated azure light, and a massive blue Stone Ball coalesced above his head. When the Stone Ball reached a diameter of two yards, it hurtled toward the enemy like a falling star.

The Abomination discarded the half-mangled corpse in its hand, brandished its Giant Cleavers, and their blood-red glow shimmered dangerously.

Thud, thud, thud...

The massive Stone Ball was immediately shredded into countless fragments, and the Abomination charged forward with startling speed, reaching the Mountain Warrior in the blink of an eye.

The Mountain Warrior, who had been preparing a second Stone Ball, noticed the change and his expression darkened. He crisscrossed his two stone arms to shield himself.

Boom...

The Abomination and the Mountain Warrior collided directly, akin to a comet slamming into the Earth.

A massive shockwave rippled out from their impact. Soldiers nearby were pulverized instantly, while those farther away were sent flying and coughed up blood.

At the center of the collision, the two combatants created a crater-like pit spanning a hundred yards.

The spectators gasped in astonishment. Both of their health bars had dropped slightly, but the damage wasn’t substantial—the sheer force of their clash overwhelmed the imagination.

"Brother, still hesitating?" the younger sister whispered.

Her brother stared blankly ahead: "I’m switching to this subclass as soon as we return."

Most players were left in awe. This was strength at its purest—a battle fought with sheer power.

"I’m not fighting alone."

The Abomination sneered, and two Chains swiftly bound the Mountain Warrior’s arms while the twisted monster behind the Abomination spewed venom in large amounts, covering the Mountain Warrior entirely.

Sizzle, sizzle...

The Rock Armor couldn’t withstand such intense corrosion. Coupled with the force of the two Chains, cracks began to appear in the Mountain Warrior’s body.

Boom, boom, boom...

Though his hands were trapped, the Mountain Warrior’s feet repeatedly kicked at the Abomination with unparalleled force and resilience. The Abomination’s health steadily declined, but its face contorted into a savage grin—it refused to let go.

The twisted monster unleashed countless tentacles. They burrowed into the Mountain Warrior’s cracks like roots digging into soil.

Crack, crack, crack...

"Damn it—Earth Armor!"

The Mountain Warrior frantically absorbed strength from the earth, but the tentacles had already infiltrated his body. His cracks only grew worse.

In less than five seconds, the cracks on his body spread like a web.

Splatter...

Countless tentacles burst forth from the fissures, accompanied simultaneously by the force of two Chains and the Mountain Warrior’s arms. The Abomination tore him apart in a single motion...
