Chapter 1572: Conclusion
Chapter 1572: Chapter 1572: Conclusion
Edward was never the kind of person prone to melodrama. When confronted with a situation, she stayed composed, clear-headed, and methodical. However, when it came time to act, she never hesitated. Moreover, upon realizing something was unachievable, she would retreat decisively, never clinging to appearances or stubbornly attempting the impossible.
Just like this time. Initially, she had no intention of interfering, merely lamenting the impending loss of another first kill. However, when Li Yao stood in the middle, and the Green Dragon Princess indicated she wouldn’t intervene for the moment, Edward decisively seized the opportunity and struck without reservation.
But the two of them couldn’t overcome Li Yao, and instead, he turned the tables, forcing them into a relentless retreat. Despite the numerous escape mechanisms of her Flying Demons form, Li Yao’s successive attacks hunted her down. Again, she didn’t hesitate to retreat when the opportunity arose.
The spectators and players watching Li Yao’s battles were left in shock. The Flying Demons had gained a notorious reputation of late.
He was a top-tier alien player who had recently emerged, rapidly rising to prominence by locating high-ranking players and issuing challenges.
He achieved rapid victories in succession, defeating many professional players. And although he wasn’t undefeated, even when faced with matchups that countered his class, the Flying Demons often managed to escape unscathed.
There was even an instance when someone learned in advance whom he intended to challenge. That player, knowing they were no match, refused to be a mere stepping stone. They alerted their guild, whose elite members set up layers of encirclements. Yet, the Flying Demons slaughtered his way through, ultimately escaping unharmed from a siege of over ten thousand players.
Following that battle, the Flying Demons were dubbed the Blood King of the Skies, dominating the spotlight for a time.
As for Edward, she hardly needed an introduction. As the owner, part-time guild leader, and team captain of the world’s first-ranked guild and esports team, her skills were universally acknowledged. She was a woman who overshadowed countless champions in the gaming world.
Titles like The First Player of the Gaming World and The Queen of Games were just a few of the many that adorned her name.
The individual skills of these two players were undoubtedly at the pinnacle of what current players could achieve, yet even with their meticulous planning, they were swiftly countered by Li Yao’s offensive turn. The shock of this turn of events can only be imagined.
"Come and go as you please? Do you think this place is a marketplace?"
Li Yao showed no mercy. His arrows streaked across the sky like meteors.
Edward’s Spider Shape was retreating rapidly, dragged away by a strand of Spider Silk. However, Li Yao’s marksmanship was extraordinarily precise. With his current attributes, his control over arrows had reached an unparalleled level.
An arrow slammed into the Spider Silk, the immense force snapping it effortlessly.
Edward, now airborne, immediately plummeted downward, only to be greeted by a torrential rain of arrows.
Still in mid-air, Li Yao moved as if lotus petals blossomed under his feet with every step. Each step left behind an afterimage, and with each afterimage, the density of his attacks increased.
His primary form fired powerful Steel Exploding Arrows, while the afterimages unleashed Piercing Arrows.
Although the afterimages only generated a third of Li Yao’s output, that third was more than enough. Li Yao’s current attack attributes were terrifying to the extreme.
The numerous Piercing Arrows inflicted a staggering amount of damage. The Spider Shape’s massive body enabled several attacks to register up to seven or eight times in quick succession.
Meanwhile, the Steel Exploding Arrows from Li Yao’s main form focused on brute force and explosive impact.
His body locked tightly onto Edward, and each explosion sealed off her paths of retreat while inflicting devastating damage on her Spider Shape.
The overpowering strength attached to each arrow made things worse. Already off-balance, Edward found herself endlessly pounded, leaving her in a particularly embarrassing predicament.
Most of the onlookers simply assumed that the Spider Shape’s weakness must lie in her humanoid upper body.
But only Li Yao understood the terrifying nature of this form. This current form represented a key manifestation of the Spider Queen Rose, specializing in controlling Hellfire while also excelling in close combat.
The most crucial aspect was that the weakness wasn’t in the humanoid torso as others speculated but instead in the spider body. To be precise, it was the Hell Runes etched on the spider’s surface.
These runes were the cornerstone of maintaining this form. With his Divine Eye, Li Yao could clearly see Edward channeling elemental forces through these runes during combat.
Li Yao targeted these critical points, systematically destroying the runes. Not only did this undermine the structural integrity of the form, but it also repeatedly disrupted Edward’s spellcasting.
To the onlookers, it appeared as though Edward was being brutally crushed by Li Yao without any power to retaliate. That was the reality.
Edward didn’t lack the will to fight back. Every time she gathered mana, it was swiftly dispersed by another attack.
The frustration she felt couldn’t be overstated. She had entered this battle full of confidence, relying on her physical transformation. From her perspective, after transforming, she could snatch a loot item and still have plenty of time left.
There was even a chance to slay the Demon Throat during the transformation window. With luck, she could leverage her transformation to briefly contend against the Demon Marshal, amassing a great deal of merit. At that point, overtaking Li Yao and Starfire wouldn’t be impossible at all.
But she never anticipated that her trump card form would, once again, be utterly powerless against Li Yao, as though he were her natural nemesis.
If it were merely a case of class counters, she could accept it. At least she’d feel better. But there wasn’t any inherent skill or class suppression in this case. She was being crushed purely by Li Yao’s superior technique. The frustration of this knowledge was something only she could fully comprehend.
What made it worse was that if it weren’t for the distraction caused by the Flying Demons, she wouldn’t even have been able to cast a single spell. Sharing that truth would likely erode her prestige.
As rune after rune shattered, the flesh surrounding them cracked and splattered. The massive spider body was reduced to a mangled state, with not a single patch of intact flesh.
Edward was miserable, utterly miserable. Attacking from a distance was impossible, and closing in to fight was equally out of reach. She was as stifled as one could be.
"This time, it’s my fault for overestimating myself and inviting my own humiliation. I admit defeat. But don’t think for a second that I’ll bow down easily. I’ve encountered countless strong opponents before, and yet, I was always the one who emerged victorious in the end."
As Edward spoke, her Spider Shape suddenly swelled. The runes on her body surged with brilliance and then exploded outright.
The blast was akin to a miniature sun detonating—dazzling and blinding, accompanied by an immense shockwave that even obliterated Li Yao’s arrows.
In the very instant of the explosion, Edward vanished. Moments later, her battered and weakened figure, with less than one percent of her health remaining, was spotted among her guild’s ranks.
Li Yao glanced in that direction and shook his head slightly. "I don’t care whether you yield or not. Come at me once, and I’ll crush you once. Come at me ten times, and I’ll crush you ten times. As long as I hold absolute strength, what difference does your pride make?"
The audience collectively fell into speechless silence...
