Chapter 1544: Chapter 1544: Each Responding on Their Own

Of course, other teams could also see some benefits in this situation, the sole satisfying element being that the contest had shifted from being a competition between teams to a test of the guilds’ comprehensive strength.

After all, the pressure that Starfire had imposed on the other teams was simply too immense. During the rest period before the third checkpoint, all the teams became well aware of Starfire’s astonishing evaluations and achievements, as well as the gulf between them and Starfire.

Indeed, the previous competitive mode was not particularly intuitive nor deeply impactful. They acknowledged the strength of the Starfire Team but did not truly believe that their own teams were that much weaker in comparison.

But it was under this cruel and most direct form of competition that they had no choice but to confront reality; their once proud evaluations and achievements did secure them a spot in the final stage, but when compared, they understood the faint despair in their hearts.

Starfire was incredibly strong, unreasonably so, to the point of having no allies.

Initially having complaints about this first-kill competition model, they now realized it was a form of protection for them; otherwise, they would have been eliminated by Starfire in the overall competition long ago.

The evaluation gap was simply too vast. No matter how arrogant or unconvinced they were, the stark reality left them speechless.

However, this new model for competing for the first kill of the dungeon had indeed transcended the original competition for first kills.

And the final checkpoint, while seemingly desperate, presented them with an opportunity to regroup and rally their forces.

The final rules allowed for the use of the guild’s overall strength, which, in their perspective, diminished the influence of individuals.

However amazing your Prairie Fire technique is, it’s still just one person’s ability. Can you really defy the natural order?

This was a contest of the guilds’ comprehensive strength and heritage. This battle might seem daunting, but it also allowed them to see a sliver of hope, the only thing comforting them.

After all, no one would exhaust their old reserves and deplete their guild’s military forces without sufficient interest and temptation.

Moreover, they currently lacked the space to summon their armies. The most important thing now was to preserve the lives of their team members. Only then would there be a possibility of summoning their guild legions, with the priority being to withstand this wave of attack.

However, the Demon Marshal deliberately abandoned a large number of strongholds, concentrating all elites in the central city of Uldaman’s core, ready to launch an attack while at ease. Blocking such a strike was far from easy.

Let alone the armies of these player guilds, even the legions of several factions felt caught off guard.

"It’s terrifying, boss, quickly give the order," exclaimed Variable Treasure loudly.

Li Yao snapped back to reality. This life was completely different from the previous one; the dungeon in the former life was not like this. However, seeing this situation, he quickly regained his senses.

Although Starfire was not directly next to the Lava Lake, they were only separated from it by one guild’s army. If that guild could not withstand the pressure, Starfire would similarly face attacks from all sides.

"All air forces, do not engage with the furious rhino dragons; avoid forceful combat, wait for an opportunity. Guardian, wave the Fish Dragon Command Flag, adopt the Fish Formation," Li Yao decisively commanded. Now, facing the sudden strike of Uldaman’s elite legions, the priority was to stabilize the formation and preserve strength. Only when all teams had stabilized could they launch a counterattack together.

Relying on Starfire alone to turn the tide of battle was nothing but a fool’s dream. Putting aside whether Starfire had the capacity to rectify the situation, even if they did, Li Yao would not allow Starfire to suffer significant losses and engage in a desperate struggle with Uldaman’s elites. If the Demon Marshal ordered a focused attack on Starfire, they would have no choice but to rue their fate.

The Guardian Angel had been waiting for this command. Following Li Yao’s words, they frantically waved the Fish Dragon Command Flag, and the Starfire Legion was immediately engulfed in raging waves, turning the members of Starfire into swimming fish.

Not just Starfire, but including the legions of several factions, all unleashed every trick up their sleeves.

The leaders of various guilds also had their expressions wildly change, one after another they could not bear to hesitate, and they all employed their tactics for preserving their main forces.

Things like Legion scrolls were used without a care for their own lives; to hesitate any further would mean immediate doom.

Even though these teams belong to super guilds, not all teams have Legion scrolls, and not all guilds’ Legion scrolls are defensive in nature; many of them are for offensive purposes.

For example, some guilds’ legions are composed of Fire Birds, Giant Dragons, Lightning Wolves, and other offensive forms, with only a very few guild Legion scrolls summoning defensive formations such as Divine Turtles and War Bears.

The outcome was obvious, especially for the teams near the Lava Lake and also at the very front line, they were truly unlucky.

A large number of Magma Dragons leaped out from the Lava Lake; Magma Dragons belong to the half-elemental dragon species, possessing beast dragon bloodline, and if classified in detail, they are categorized as fish-dragon race.

They can survive in magma, can spew lava, possess decent offensive capabilities, and their bodies are as hard as steel, with strong defensive power.

There’s no need to mention the Blast Rhinos; a large number of explosive scales fell down like bombers.

At the same time, as the dust from the ground approached, one after another Black Horned Dragons launched the Skyrocket Cannon.

And the Explosive Hammer Dragons formed into tire-like shapes, rolling and crashing wildly.

The entire battlefield was a dismal and chaotic mess; the images of offensive formation legions were shattered, and a large number of soldiers were killed one after another by continuous attacks.

They fought desperately, but the four legions were too strong; dealing with just one legion was difficult enough, let alone facing four at once. In just a brief moment, the United Army’s troops suffered a huge blow.

"Totem rise!"

Blood Hoof Chieftain, undaunted by the danger, gave the command.

One after another, stout Tauren carrying Totem columns fiercely planted the Totems into the ground, and huge totemic phantoms enveloped the troops.

Countless ancestral spirits appeared, their own elemental powers blessing the totems, and the entire Dark Camp’s legions were shrouded in a four-colored elemental glow, standing immovable against the powerful legion’s assault.

The Totem legion is one of the Tauren’s most ancient legions; in the war of Ancient Times, they followed the commander of the United Army, stubbornly cutting through the defenses of the Demon Army that stretched for thousands of miles to reach the Elven capital city, thwarting the Legion’s conspiracy in one fell swoop.

There was even internal strife among the Giant Dragons, and the Black Dragon Legion underwent backlash. The Totem Army and the Black Dragon Legion once fought a battle against each other; although the Totem Army suffered losses, the Black Dragon Legion, too, paid a considerable price.

After a battle, the Totem Army became famous worldwide as one of the most elite legions.

Unfortunately, they were innately restrained by Half Centaurs, and the Half Centaur Hunter Army was also an elite force from Ancient Times, with achievements and records that were no less than the Totem Army. Coupled with racial suppression, they were pushed back step by step and only managed to defeat the Half Centaurs with the force of the Dark Camp.

The General of the Light Faction also commanded: "Mountain Guard."

A large number of Dwarves, as if reverting to ancestral form, turned into Earth Spirits from the Ancient Times, and huge mountainous phantoms enveloped the Light Faction’s team.

They achieved complete immobility as solid as mountains, undisturbed by the onslaught of the Uldaman Legion...
