Chapter 1500 Dilemma
Chapter 1500: Chapter 1500 Dilemma
According to the usual script, since this Alice doesn’t take those who are causing trouble in the fortress seriously, it indicates that they do not pose any threat to them. The ease seen in the expressions of the high command from the fortress also suggests that they are quite satisfied with their progress.
Li Yao even suspects that even if the fortress was really destroyed, it wouldn’t have much of an impact on them.
This caused Li Yao to harbor some doubts, feeling that Alice’s vision was somewhat grand. However, Li Yao had too little information to make an accurate judgment.
Alice’s official profile provided by the faction was scant—identified as a faction leader, but with no specific profession mentioned.
It was only when Li Yao sensed the oscillation of the Dark Touch did he realize this person was the actual Divine Envoy. In fact, it made sense—were it not for being a Divine Envoy, Alice would not be an Earth Spirit or Dwarf and still manage to lead others so obediently here.
Moreover, discovering the Dark Touch should have been a very happy occasion, but this contradicted Li Yao’s plan.
With an opponent being a faction leader and a Divine Envoy, and not just a racial-class entity, even in one-on-one combat Li Yao couldn’t guarantee a complete victory over the adversary, not to mention the many high-level masters present.
To seize the Dark Touch was simply an unattainable goal. Li Yao had constantly run through various scenarios in his head and found it impossible to snatch the Dark Touch from the opponent’s hands.
Thus, Li Yao refocused on the mission at hand, moving ahead while observing, as he needed an opportunity. Perhaps after lifting the curse from the Green Dragons and rescuing the captives, the Green Dragons might initiate a counterattack that could present an opportunity.
Then the question arises, upon meeting him, they wanted to show their greatest secret to him within less than a quarter of an hour.
They didn’t even offer a drink, which seemed too hasty. There must be something odd when anomalies arise, but Li Yao didn’t have much of a choice.
The most important aspect was that he was running out of time. If it were an ordinary mission, rather than a race for the first kill, Li Yao might play it cool and stay here for a while, looking for the right moment. But now, there was no time for that.
He could only choose to continue taking risks; otherwise, he might miss out on the opportunity.
"If you want to see it, then follow me," Alice said with a smiling face. "Priest, don’t delay, I will personally take him there."
The Priest bowed slightly, and the others respectfully saw him off.
Li Yao received another prompt from his internal informant, advising against going, but Li Yao could only respond with a wry smile and a message of having no other choice.
As for who the informant was, it remained a mystery in Li Yao’s mind. The Priest was the most suspicious, but the Priest was too conspicuous; an informant should not be so noticeable.
Yet, if not the Priest, it was hard to figure out who among the other high command it could be.
Amidst his mixed thoughts, Li Yao followed Alice’s graceful figure into a secret chamber beneath the hall.
Then, a small Teleportation Array appeared, and after going through it, Li Yao no longer knew the exact location.
Next, an enormous and seemingly endless laboratory appeared before Li Yao.
Countless Dwarves and Gnomes were bustling about, extracting various Potions, and Li Yao even saw the body of a dead Green Dragon, being disassembled into various materials.
"This is the result of my centuries of work. The fortress is merely a facade to mislead others; it serves no real purpose," Alice said proudly. "The Dream’s Curse and the breeding of the ferocious Dragon Beasts from Green Dragon essence are all completed here."
Li Yao chuckled, "You sure are trusting. Aren’t you afraid that I might be a fake Divine Envoy, causing trouble here?"
Alice laughed with even more pride: "Firstly, your aura is the same as mine, and Godzilla couldn’t possibly be a fake. Secondly, you are too weak; even if you were an imposter, what could you possibly do? This lab is just one of my many insignificant ones. If you destroyed it all, it wouldn’t matter one bit. And rest assured, these people have virtually no fighting ability. Once I’m gone, you can do as you please; there will be nobody to stop you."
Li Yao was taken aback, "What do you mean?"
"Exactly what you’re thinking. This place is both a laboratory and the most hidden prison. I don’t care if you are a real or fake Divine Envoy. If you’re real, just stay put obediently. In a few days, when my tasks are all completed, you will be credited for your role. If you’re fake, you won’t be able to leave this lab," she explained.
As Alice spoke, her figure quickly blurred. Li Yao’s expression changed, and before he could figure out how to respond, Alice had disappeared.
"Here is my bedroom and drawing room, filled with enough supplies for you to live lavishly for a year. The Touch of Darkness can open it. Take your time and stay for a few days, behave, hehehe..."
"So it is indeed as I suspected," Li Yao observed the lab, which was truly sealed by an Array, and it was the kind that was sealed from the outside, nearly impossible to break from the inside.
"You guessed right, she really trapped me here," Li Yao contacted his inside agent.
"What now? That crazy woman has already pinpointed the location of the Dream Seeds, and the army has set out to capture all of our Race. And now you’re trapped too," the voice of the inside agent was filled with extreme anxiety and impatience.
"Calm down, stay calm," Li Yao consoled.
"At this crucial moment, the future of our Race is at the brink of annihilation. How can I stay calm? Moreover, she is about to lead her troops to the hiding place soon."
"The actual purpose of my coming here is to find a way to lift the curse. What I want to know is whether this lab indeed has the Potion or method to break the curse," Li Yao inquired.
"It’s true, there is indeed an antidote there. But you can’t possibly break that Array, and I don’t have a chance to extract you. Even if you found the Potion, what then? If it were that simple, I would have taken the antidote away a long time ago," Green Dragon’s voice was filled with disappointment.
"That puts my mind at ease. Be careful not to expose yourself. As long as you can find the antidote, that’s good enough. I will naturally find a way to get out of here; this will save me time," Li Yao sighed in relief.
"Don’t get your hopes up, there’s no way to move around in there, and without a special method, you can’t use the Teleportation Array. Even she has to leave the lab using another method to be able to teleport back. You’re too arrogant. Just take care of yourself. The fate of our Dragon Clan... *sigh*..."
No matter what Li Yao said, the inside agent didn’t respond anymore. Li Yao couldn’t help but smile bitterly.
That’s the issue with dealing with the Dragon Clan; they’re too proud and arrogant. Once they have made up their minds about something, they won’t listen to anyone else.
Of course, they have ancient origins and long heritage, having lived for eons, which naturally entitles them to that kind of attitude. But it’s precisely because of this that the Dragon Clan has suffered significant losses in the past.
However, all this was beyond Li Yao’s concern. It didn’t matter who the inside agent was anymore, nor Alice’s plan.
The most important thing now was to find the antidote and then to rush to free the Green Dragons from the curse before Alice captured them. As for this prison, how could it possibly contain him...
