Chapter 1486: Chapter 1486: Looking for Opportunities

Through this program, players gradually realized NPCs possessed intelligence that was not inferior to that of the players, and as levels increased, bosses became even more cunning and tricky than the players.

In fact, the ancient deities have always been gradually modifying the pattern, transitioning from a game world to a magical, real world.

And it’s not just about system-defined templates; indeed, as levels escalate, this manifestation becomes increasingly apparent.

Upon reaching Tier 6, which is also the first time level locking occurs or can be considered max level, players will face a new round of choices.

Just like the initial unlockable and lockable modes, players can choose to be unable to see the enemies’ health bars.

Just like in adventure mode, whether it’s bosses or minor monsters, health levels have to be judged based on the creature’s characteristics and the player’s experience.

Not being able to see the health bar will be a very painful experience, but if one chooses this mode, then the post-max level equipment will receive some compensatory attribute enhancements.

In the end, the result is as if one is piloting a Mecha, which is precisely the desired outcome.

Of course, talking about this is digressing; these details are to illustrate that, without the display of health bars, the craftiness of bosses and NPCs will be fully showcased.

If one lacks the corresponding skills and keen observation, it might even be impossible to tell whether the boss or NPC is critically injured; for instance, in this mission, if health bars were hidden, the Green Dragon Princess, despite being seriously wounded, could still deceive a bunch of players into meeting their demise.

And this program is just about such incidents, compiling various clips where players are tricked to death by NPCs or bosses.

On the one hand, seeing others’ misfortune gives one a laugh, finding a balance in their psyche, comforting themselves that while they may be bad players, there are worse ones out there; knowing there are more unfortunate souls out there, one’s mood naturally improves, such is human nature.

On the other hand, it also broadens one’s knowledge, serving as a lesson, ensuring at least that one won’t fall for similar traps when encountered.

This moment truly made everyone’s hearts jump into their throats. If Li Yao died, countless people would revel in the misfortune as there’s no one to revive him here.

Even if there were revival skills available, the chances are one might be mercilessly killed again upon revival.

But Li Yao survived, although some murmured it was due to his use of Dream fruits or other powerful items that he managed to pull through.

Yet, Li Yao indeed achieved his goal and successfully infiltrated which many players view as godlike.

Sometimes, the line between a deity and a laughingstock is very thin.

Li Yao was blown to char, although not critically injured, was nearly there; he used another ordinary fruit, then used Potions to continuously recover from his injuries and regain health.

His eyes, however, were fixated on the two Hand Cannons held by the Defense Officer in the distance, capable of firing the Dragon Strike Cannon, and it was rare to see a combination of light and heavy hand cannons.

Although he had them, and they were decent, the power of the Star Bow and the Thousand Mechanisms Bow made the Hand Cannons obtained at the Blood Origin Tribe seem less impressive.

Moreover, with the use of Infinite Range Arrows, he hardly used sniper rifles anymore. Of course, it’s not to say these things are useless. It’s just that they don’t satisfy Li Yao and they can’t compare with the Thousand Mechanisms Bow, let alone the Star Bow.

With the Star Bow in hand, Li Yao even felt he could overcome any challenge with brute force. Just as with the Reaper’s Scythe in hand, Li Yao hasn’t used any other melee weapons since.

It’s not that Li Yao couldn’t find weapons with better attributes and special effects than the Reaper’s Scythe; he could certainly set them aside for later use.

But after all, the Reaper’s Scythe was once a prime deity’s Divine Artifact; in terms of material alone, it’s unrivaled by others.

Although it now has fewer parts and its attributes aren’t very strong, in terms of durability and sharpness, it is beyond the comparison of other weapons.

Plus, Li Yao’s close combat has always been in a supportive role, having a weapon that cannot be broken is better than any other special effects.

As for the weapon that can unleash the Dragon Strike Cannon, even though Li Yao hasn’t seen the specific attributes, he clearly understands that if he obtains it, it would certainly become another main weapon of his.

Just as Li Yao was recovering, the already bustling fort became even more so.

Two forces overtly summoned their armies to occupy buildings, while some other scattered individuals caused trouble everywhere, damaging important facilities.

This kept the fort from peace, but the fort itself wasn’t truly concerned. There was a time when the Green Dragons were constantly circling and bombing from the sky, but they still managed to defend the fort just the same, let alone deal with these minor nuisances, which were only a matter of time.

This harassment was even used to train the fort’s military forces.

If the Dragon Beast Legion had been directly unleashed, they would flatten the two buildings instantaneously, not giving these troublemakers a chance to act so arrogantly.

Li Yao, hiding in the shadows, discerned this fact; the disturbances were always on the nonessential perimeter of the fort, but the true core areas were as stable as Mount Tai.

Moreover, using his divine sight, Li Yao saw that in the centermost square, there were more than a dozen huge Green Dragons shackled with special Rune Locks, all of them Giant Dragons.

There were no guards, only some Goblin-headed beings greedily and wildly extracting Dragon Blood from the once-high-and-mighty Giant Dragon warriors, a sight of utter misery.

Furthermore, on both sides of the square many iron cages held those Green Dragons turned into human form, each one restrained by black fog-like runes, weak and languishing in their cages.

For the proud Dragon Clan, this was an agony ten times worse than death.

"The Dragon Cannon is a prize not easily sought, and killing them outright requires opportunity. It’s essential to stir chaos in the center. The sensing is weak from the Leaf of Dreamland; it must be in the central location."

Li Yao thought for a bit, then his face broke into a smile: "You want to cause a bigger commotion, right? Moreover, having already made enemies by killing your team’s members, since that’s the case, it’s better to fully offend you all to the death."

Soon, Li Yao had a plan; he decided to join the chaos at the periphery. As long as there was sufficient mayhem on the outskirts, the central area would have to be mobilized. That mobility would reveal vulnerabilities to exploit.

Otherwise, blinding venturing into the center now would most likely lead to immediate detection, followed by an overwhelming assault from the powerful distant experts en masse. Li Yao, while confident, was never arrogant.

"Might as well make use of what’s available."

Li Yao took a long detour around to another side of the wall and finally found a satisfactory target.

He readied his bow and arrow, invoking the Power of the Dragon Father.

The arrow shot out, piercing through the necks of three Dwarves and ricocheted off the wall, making a turn to shoot dead two more Dwarves.

Thump, thump...

Five Dwarves nearly simultaneously clutched their throats and fell to the ground, unable to even scream in agony.

The tentacles around Li Yao frantically danced, quickly dismantling the ammunition guarded by a team of Dwarves into raw materials.

Meanwhile, the stockpile of High-explosive Bombs in Li Yao’s Mechanical Space increased rapidly.

By the time the people on the Arrow Tower noticed something was amiss, Li Yao was no longer there; he did not give them a chance to see him, but floated away instead, directly seeking out the next target to look for new opportunities.

Li Yao was incredibly cautious, not giving them any chance to surround him; no matter how formidable he was, he would still be overwhelmed by sheer numbers...
