429: Chapter 426: Solo, Machine Gun Artist.

Tommy had advanced a considerable distance, but he only had two rounds of ammunition left.

He stopped to indicate he had chosen his position to shoot, and immediately Cui Bo rushed his remaining rounds to Tommy’s side.

Then, Cui Bo ran to Gao Yang and the others, delivering the ammunition others had carried for Tommy.

With seven rounds of ammunition left in Tommy’s hands, that was all that remained.

Glolov and Cui Bo immediately advanced, halting just before entering the firing zone of the right-side firepower point; they had to wait for Tommy’s artillery strike.

After surveying the situation, Tommy reported via the walkie-talkie, “Ram, the remaining buildings are of brick and stone construction; the mortar won’t be much use.

I’ll try firing, but if I can’t inflict significant damage on the target structure, I’ll rapidly redirect the rounds to the courtyard.”

The remaining two buildings, within a courtyard, were one three-story and one two-story.

Not only were these houses much sturdier than the other buildings in the town, but even the enclosing walls were made of brick.

Having heard Tommy’s report, Gao Yang pondered for a moment before saying, “Big Dog, you need to block both firing points simultaneously.

Can you manage that?”

Confidently, Glolov replied, “I can’t block the first-floor windows, and there’s no need to.

I just need to block nine windows, easy.”

“Rabbit, after Big Dog blocks the windows, we’ll approach beneath the outer wall.

You’re in charge of picking off any enemies bold enough to show their heads.

Be careful, and make sure you don’t give them a chance to throw grenades out.”

In a grave voice, Cui Bo responded, “Understood.

I won’t let the enemy have the chance to throw grenades.”

After giving instructions to Glolov and Cui Bo, Gao Yang turned to Sirte and Frey beside him, saying, “Can Opener, there might still be some remaining enemies on our left; that’s your responsibility.

Don’t let the enemy get a chance to attack us.”

After slinging his G36 behind his back and taking the shotgun in his hands again, Sirte patted the shotgun and said with a smile, “No problem, leave it to me.”

Gao Yang nodded, slinging the Blade of Satan on his back, and handed over all his remaining three grenades to Frey.

Taking the shotgun in his hands, he whispered, “Little Fly, how many grenades do you have left?”

Frey, who carried the most grenades and had been conservative with their use, still didn’t have many left by then.

After checking his waist bag, he replied in a deep voice, “A total of eight left.”

Only eight grenades remained for Frey, which was a bit too few.

Just then, Sirte shrugged his shoulders, took off the last two grenades from his chest, and handed them to Frey, quipping, “Better give them to you.

Grenades are more effective in your hands.”

Ten grenades didn’t seem enough to Gao Yang, so he immediately radioed, “Rabbit, collect all the grenades from Big Dog and Worker Bee and bring them here.”

The distance between Gao Yang’s group and where Cui Bo and Glolov were positioned was only about forty meters, so passing items was convenient.

Cui Bo immediately collected Glolov and Tommy’s grenades, along with his own remaining stock, and gave them all to Frey.

Cui Bo had delivered plenty of grenades, as the three of them had hardly ever used them.

Together, they rounded up ten grenades, which made for a bit too much for Frey to carry at once—twenty in all—making his bag seem a bit cumbersome.

However, these grenades would soon all be thrown, so the inconvenience was only temporary.

After all the preparations were complete, Gao Yang said into the radio, “Toad, we’re going to start the attack on our end.

How are things on your side?”

“This is Toad.

It’s quiet over here.

The back wall of the target building is very high, and there are four windows on the three-story building.

No one is coming out, and there’s no pressure on the blockade.”

“Good, Worker Bee prepare for artillery fire.

Launch the attack after the shelling.

Counting down now, 3, 2, 1, fire!”

With Gao Yang’s command, Tommy’s artillery shell immediately left the barrel.

The shell, trailing a long sound, hit the rooftop of the two-story building; however, just as Tommy had predicted, the shell did not penetrate the building to explode inside.

After a slight adjustment of the gun barrel, the remaining shells all fell into the courtyard.

As the shells continued to explode, Glolov suddenly sprinted out, then standing upright with his machine gun, he began firing, shooting at each of the windows and then quickly turning the gun to the next, not caring whether there was anyone behind them, he shot at all the windows in succession.

Since Glolov could shoot at the windows, it meant the enemy could shoot him as well.

No matter how skilled Glolov was, he couldn’t instantly cover all nine windows.

Two bullets hit Glolov, one in his lower abdomen and one in his right chest, but as soon as Cui Bo saw the shooter, he quickly took down the enemy Glolov had not yet managed to engage with two shots.

Meanwhile, Glolov simply took a step back, then immediately steadied himself and shot through all the windows once again.

When bullets flew into the windows they occupied, whether hit or not, those shooting from the windows generally had to seek temporary cover; but while seeking cover was easy, attempting to peek out again to shoot after doing so was difficult.

Suppressing multiple targets at close range with firepower relied mainly on prediction, followed by quickly turning the gun upon noticing movement.

Whenever the people hiding inside tried to shoot out, they had barely moved before bullets came flying in through the windows, so seeking cover again became the inevitable choice.

After a few seconds, as someone tried to peek out and shoot again, a few more bullets would come flying their way, making each person behind the windows think the machine gunner outside was targeting their specific window.

Apart from the extremely fearless warriors, most people’s instinctive thought was, since I’m suppressed, let others who have the chance fight back.

The thoughts of those hiding inside weren’t wrong, but they were counting on the behavior of an ordinary machine gunner; when applied to Glolov, however, it was akin to waiting for death.

After his initial two shots, Cui Bo had no further chance to fire because Glolov’s suppression made all the enemies believe the machine gunner outside was targeting their windows specifically.

No one chose to aim and shoot; even the ones with guts merely raised their guns level to the window and fired blindly outside.

No one dared to show their head, let alone someone who dared to lift their hand higher.

If Frey’s performance was like pitching a series of good balls on the field, Glolov’s rhythmic and melodious shooting was more akin to playing a piece of music.

In the midst of chaotic gunfire, Sirte could distinguish the rhythmic gunfire from Glolov, as if he was keeping time with his shots.

Wanting to see the effect of Glolov’s suppression and given that there were still some remaining enemies surging out on his left, Sirte took the risk to lift his head and glance at the two buildings behind him.

Seeing that not a single person in any of the windows was making even a slightly threatening shot, Sirte crouched down, looked at the corpses strewn across the yard opposite, shook his head, and muttered to himself, “F**k, where did the Satan Mercenary Corps find these freaks?

They’re damn good!” (To be continued.
