Chapter 1385: Chapter 1,367: The Trend of the Times

Glolov has returned to Kiev with the men transporting the goods.

The cargo ship has successfully passed through the Black Sea Strait, the toughest challenge is now safely cleared.

It’s been three days since the meeting with Selin, but there hasn’t been any follow-up information during these days.

Gao Yang surprisingly feels somewhat idle, so he plans to take advantage of this free time to search for Morgan’s gun. Hence, he’s been calling Morgan more frequently these days, but despite the frequent calls, it hasn’t proved fruitful. Finding someone who immigrated to America over twenty years ago, possibly with a different name, is actually quite difficult.

Apart from the current matters at hand, Gao Yang is also seeking other business opportunities. However, at the moment, there doesn’t seem to be any clear path. Since entering Ukraine, every contact has been utilized, unless he meets any new influential figure, scouting for opportunities would be quite challenging.

Gao Yang is staying in his room, not going out, using the internet to video chat with Yelena. Being able to meet online is much better than a simple phone call.

Gao Yang is chatting happily when his door is suddenly knocked on, and Frey hurriedly shouts: "Boss, what are you doing?"

Gao Yang turns his head and shouts toward the door: "I’m busy, what do you want?"

"There’s a change in the situation in Ukraine, do you want to come out to watch TV or check online?"

Gao Yang loudly replies: "I’ll come out and watch TV."

Turning back, Gao Yang smiles at Yelena on the screen and says, "Let’s chat next time, I need to go out and see what’s happened."

The image is slightly laggy, but the sound is clear. Yelena chuckles and says: "Do you need me to tell you? It’s already on the news, the opposition in Donetsk declared independence just now. I saw it on the news. If you want to see what’s happening on TV, it’s probably that."

Gao Yang laughs heartily and says: "You have quite a clear understanding of Ukraine’s situation."

Yelena says with slight helplessness: "Of course, because you are there. Well, I won’t keep you from discussing big matters. Goodbye."

After closing the laptop, Gao Yang walks out of his room. Upon reaching the first-floor big living room, he finds almost everyone already there, all watching the TV in the living room.

The television screen shows a group of people in camouflage uniforms, shouting excitedly about something, and upon seeing Gao Yang, Albert smiles and gestures at the TV, saying to Gao Yang: "Donetsk has declared independence, Ukraine seems about to fight."

Yelena was indeed correct, the big affair in Ukraine is Donetsk declaring independence.

Donetsk announcing to set up a country is truly a big deal, especially for Ukraine. It’s even more serious than Crimea being taken by Russia because it means the complete breakup of Ukraine’s eastern and western parts and formally brings Ukraine to the brink of civil war; just a slight move forward with the tiptoe could lead to war.

Eastern Ukraine is a hub for heavy industries, predominantly Russian-speaking, so it’s supportive of good relations with Russia. The western part is primarily agricultural, predominantly Ukrainian-speaking. When these regions turn against each other completely, pulling the situation back to peaceful tracks will be difficult.

The onset of civil war in Ukraine also implies that the situation facing Satan in Ukraine may change significantly, so Satan’s group must pay close attention to Ukraine’s situation.

The group watches the television silently, where the news host speaks in Ukrainian while the subjects are shouting in Russian, creating a curious scene.

After watching the TV for a while and understanding what’s happening, Gao Yang loudly says: "Guys, we’re likely to be busy in the upcoming period. If Ukraine’s civil war begins, General Voronin might ship out quickly, and Kucher might have some changes in logistics."

Eileen frowns and says: "Boss, are those planes still showing no sign?"

Gao Yang shakes his head and replies: "No, Selin hasn’t sent any news back."

Eileen can’t help but say: "Should we prepare pilots in advance? If we wait till the plane deal to find pilots, it would be really difficult."

Gao Yang smiles bitterly and replies: "I know recruiting pilots last minute is hard, but since we can’t even confirm if the deal will happen, it’s too early to rush into finding pilots, right? We need to buy five planes, meaning we need five crews simultaneously, finding so many people on our own isn’t easy."

Bringing up pilots, Gao Yang feels a headache. Buying planes is easy, but finding pilots is hard, especially for old-fashioned An-32 planes that require large crews, at least five people, making recruiting quite troublesome.

Li Jinfang solemnly says: "Didn’t Selin say he could provide pilots, test pilots from the aircraft factory? Their skills must be fine. Why not use them?"

Gao Yang scratches his head and sighs: "This is troublesome; the Skull Gang hasn’t captured Berbera yet. Where do we park the planes we buy? Planes can’t just be parked anywhere casually, and without pilots, they’re just heaps of scrap metal. We need to find our own specialized pilots. Too many troubles."

Cui Bo frowns and says: "Yeah, real hassle. Maybe it’s better not to buy them; Indian planes are cheap, but flying them makes you feel really uneasy."

Glolov frowns and says: "Opportunities like these, once in a hundred years, can’t just be given up. Even if after buying we can’t use them, we should get them at least for display."

Gao Yang shrugs and smiles: "See, like I said, when it comes to playing Indians, Old Russians really know best."

Everyone laughs, and Gao Yang then waves and loudly says: "If this deal can still go through, I’ll try to see if I can buy both planes and personnel."

Cui Bo laughs: "Buy planes with pilots too? Pilots aren’t for sale, right?"

Glolov laughs: "Why not? In the current PMC sector, the most pilots come from Russia and other CIS countries. With great skills and low salaries, they would be perfect."

It’s not only Gao Yang and his group paying attention to the situation in Ukraine, the news of Donetsk’s declaration of independence has agitated many. As Gao Yang’s group continues discussing this unexpectedly explosive news, someone impatiently calls in.

The first call comes from Kucher. Once Gao Yang answers, he eagerly says: "Selin agreed to your terms. Prepare the money, arrange a meeting, and once settled, get the planes right away."
