Mercenary’s War -

Chapter 1226: Chapter One Thousand Two Hundred Nine: The Revelry Has Just Begun
There must indeed be an agent. Morgan has several agents who handle his business around the world. For example, Abdul, whom Gao Yang is familiar with, is one of Morgan’s agents.
Uriyangko is Grand Ivan’s agent, while Polovich used to be one of Grand Ivan’s agents.
Although Gao Yang represents the Satan team, and it is foreseeable that Satan’s business will continue to grow, the problem is that while Satan is good at fighting, as for doing business… well, it’s better to stay far, far away from that.
Gao Yang, at least, had some experience in foreign trade for a while, which counts for something. As for the rest of the team, well, they can pass as bandits, but they would definitely go broke trying to do business.
No one in the Satan team is suitable for long-term residency in Ukraine, except maybe Little Donnie. He might be the only viable option for Ukraine.
Little Donnie is suitable, but the issue lies in his identity. He’s Satan’s manager, responsible for taking on new business deals, and he knows everything about every member of Satan. He also manages the team’s shared accounts and handles everyone’s private matters. Moreover, he’s Satan’s logistics director. If Little Donnie were to stop being a manager to become an agent, it would be completely counterproductive.
An agent needs to be incredibly reliable, which is the basic requirement. After all, they would be managing significant financial resources and assets. Secondly, the agent must possess the ability to independently handle transactions. Additionally, given the type of business Satan engages in, which is not exactly aboveboard, the agent must also have the capability to both fight and kill, potentially even triggering a war if needed.
Finding such a candidate would have been quite difficult for Gao Yang, but after what had just happened, he already had a suitable candidate in mind.
That person is Yake. Gao Yang felt Yake was quite suitable as an agent. Although he wasn’t sure if Yake knew how to do business, Yake met all the other criteria. Of course, the question is whether Yake would even agree to be Satan’s agent, and most importantly, whether Yake would even make it back alive this time.
Gao Yang only felt like everything before him was a tangled mess, with too many things waiting to be dealt with.
For a fleeting moment, Gao Yang thought it would be simpler to just continue being a mercenary: straightforward, accepting missions, going to war for money, and enjoying vacations in between. Do whatever you want when you’re free. This whole transformation thing sounds easy but is incredibly challenging in practice because nothing in the world is as straightforward and direct as fighting.
Seeing Gao Yang rubbing his temples, Yelena asked with concern, “What’s wrong?”
Gao Yang shook his head and smiled wryly, “It’s nothing. I was just thinking about business matters. I’ll need to find a few assistants when I get the chance. Alright, let’s leave work for later; the players are entering the field. Let’s enjoy the game.”
Switching sides for the second half, this time Palermo’s attack was aimed at the goal that was not far from where Gao Yang and the others were seated.
Shortly after the second half kicked off, Palermo intercepted the ball in the front court and immediately launched a very threatening attack.
The Palermo fans began to roar, and Rafael shouted excitedly, “Vasquez! Vasquez! Go past him! Pass it! Just like that! Yes!”
After dribbling past multiple opponents, a player delivered a perfect through ball to an oncoming forward, who then took a powerful low shot. The ball slammed into the back of the net, and the South Stand erupted in cheers.
Gao Yang also roared in celebration but couldn’t help imagining what it would be like if Frey were standing on a Major League Baseball mound, striking out batter after batter in front of tens of thousands of fans.
As the roar of celebration subsided after the restart, Yelena grabbed Gao Yang’s hand and yelled, “When we get back, take Frey to watch more games. He’s never played a game himself, and he rarely gets the chance to watch one. Let him watch a few more; maybe he’ll change his mind.”
Gao Yang laughed loudly, “You’re right. Frey definitely needs to watch a few more games. It’s just that Major League Baseball hasn’t started yet; we’ll have to wait for that.”
After the short exchange, the same midfielder who initiated the earlier quick attack did so again, sprinting toward Pescara’s goal. Rafael once more shouted excitedly, “Vasquez, go past him! F**k! One-on-one! Yes!”
Pescara, desperate to turn the game around, pressed heavily up the field, leaving their backline wide open, which gave the midfielder another great opportunity.
Dribbling past two players, the midfielder completed a solo effort attack, calmly slotting the ball past the keeper into the goal.
“Three to one! We’ve got this game in the bag!”
The South Stand erupted in joy, while the North Stand fell into stunned silence. This time, Gao Yang remembered the midfielder’s name—it was Vasquez.
The remainder of the match was intense, with both sides playing aggressively. The referee handed out cards several times, and the fans were no longer as polite as before, trading insults back and forth. Amid such a heated atmosphere, Palermo managed to score another goal during stoppage time, making it 4-1.
Rafael was ecstatic, his voice hoarse from shouting. Throwing his arm around Gao Yang’s neck, he exclaimed loudly, “Boss, come celebrate with us! Let’s grab a few drinks. Yelena, are you coming?”
Yelena nodded energetically and shouted, “Yes, let’s go for drinks! It’s been ages since I’ve had this much fun!”
Gao Yang, however, curiously said, “I don’t mind having a few drinks, but I’m wondering—if you all wear Palermo jerseys at a bar, will anyone even serve you?”
Rafael laughed heartily, “Don’t worry about it, Boss. Leave it to me.”
Away fans enter first and leave last—it seems to be a universal rule.
As they followed the Palermo fans out to the exit, Gao Yang was surprised to find his bodyguards waiting outside the tunnel. Besides his two bodyguards, the butler and Octavia were also there.
All of them were wearing Palermo jerseys. In a crowd like this, it was hard for the bodyguards to spot Gao Yang. Squeezing his way toward them, Gao Yang said sheepishly, “Hey, I’m here, guys. How did you get here? Didn’t I say you didn’t need to come? And how did you even find us?”
The butler bowed slightly and said, “Sir, ensuring your safety and that of Miss Yelena is their duty. As for me, I must always be at your service. That’s my responsibility. Miss Octavia provided the GPS tracker installed on the motorcycle, so we waited for you here. I apologize for not informing you sooner.”
Octavia stepped forward, smiling, “Mr. Gao, do you have any new plans?”
Gao Yang shrugged with a smile, “Let’s discuss it at the parking lot.”
As they followed the crowd toward the parking lot, Rafael came up to Gao Yang, asking curiously, “Who are they?”
Gao Yang whispered, “They’re people Morgan arranged. Bodyguards, butlers, everything’s organized.”
At the parking lot, someone had already brought out crates of alcohol, and under the watchful eyes of the police, they began drinking heavily.
Someone got off a bus and grabbed two helmets, handing one to Rafael before shouting toward someone in the distance, “Bring the motorcycle over! Hey, want us to cover for your friends as they leave?”
Rafael took the helmet, looked at Gao Yang, and Gao Yang smiled, “No need, we’re not leaving tonight.”
At this point, Octavia stepped forward and smiled at Rafael. “Sir, please hand me the helmet.”
Gao Yang gestured to Octavia and softly asked, “Are these helmets new?”
“Yes, Sir, brand new.”
“And the motorcycle?”
“The motorcycle isn’t new, Sir.”
Gao Yang nodded, pointing to the motorcycle being pushed over. “That model—buy me a new one, with factory-installed navigation. Ship it to New York. Any problems?”
Octavia bowed slightly, smiling, “No problems at all, Sir. It’s my pleasure.”
Gao Yang nodded and said, “Also, there’s a slight issue. On our way here, we were speeding and got chased by the police. I hope that won’t be too troublesome for you.”
Octavia, holding both helmets, bowed slightly again and chuckled, “Sir, as long as you’re enjoying yourself, you don’t have to worry about anything else.”
Gao Yang turned to Rafael and asked, “Are you staying tonight?”
Rafael spread his hands and said, “Your call. Wherever you go, I go.”
Gao Yang then instructed his temporary butler, “I’m a bit tired. Book us two rooms here in Pescara for tonight.”
“Okay, Sir.”
“You guys can leave now. My friends and I are going out for drinks and might come back late. You can rest; there’s nothing for you to worry about here.”
The butler bowed slightly. “Sir, Miss Octavia and I will take our leave, but the bodyguards should stay close by. They can keep their distance, but it’s better for them to remain near you.”
After thinking for a moment, Gao Yang shook his head, “No, there’s no need for them to follow us.”
The butler asked solemnly, “Sir, are you certain?”
“Yes, I’m certain.”
As bodyguards, they naturally had to follow the wishes of the person they were tasked with protecting. Since Gao Yang insisted, they quickly took their leave.
The Palermo fans who had traveled to Pescara were also starting to head out, although they came as part of a fan organization, they did not arrive or leave together.
Under the strict supervision of the police, most of the Palermo fans had dispersed, leaving around two hundred fans—stalwarts of the Palermo North Stand Soul—lingering near the buses, drinking and celebrating.
Several police officers approached to sternly order Rafael and his group to leave quickly, but Rafael loudly called out to Gao Yang, “Let’s go, Boss! Let’s find a wilder place to keep the party going. Tonight’s celebration is just getting started.” (To be continued. If you like this story, visit Qidian.com for recommendations and votes.
