Mercenary’s War
Chapter 1043 - 1043 One Thousand Twenty-Seven Bad Temper

1043: Chapter One Thousand Twenty-Seven: Bad Temper 1043: Chapter One Thousand Twenty-Seven: Bad Temper The situation got a bit complicated; no one knew how to break the silence.

Peter looked frantic, the Russian who had called him away was full of regret, Li Jinfang appeared bewildered, Gao Yang watched idly, Farouk, Dani, and Gilanor were at a loss, each Russian was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan.

“Your technique for resetting the joint is unusual, but also very effective.

How did you do it?”

The first one to speak was the doctor who came with Peter.

He stared at Andy He, who took less than ten seconds to dislocate and reset Li Jinfang’s shoulder joint, unable to hold back his curiosity any longer.

Li Jinfang sensed something was off.

He saw the severely injured patient being carried in, but he was most concerned about Peter’s arm, so he whispered to Peter, “Do you know the man from earlier?

Also, how is your arm?

Have you had an x-ray?”

Peter was looking flushed with impatience and said, “Sorry, my friend’s in grave danger.

I can’t worry about my arm right now.”

The young Russian’s expression was priceless.

Finally, he said to Peter, “Captain, fretting is useless.

You should take care of your arm first.

Without the use of your hand, you can’t achieve anything.”

After saying this, the young Russian bowed his head to Andy He and said urgently, “I’m sorry, very sorry.

My so-called dignity clouded my judgment.

Please forgive me and help our captain.

This is all my fault.”

Watching the Russians’ mix of despair, sadness, and helplessness, and seeing Peter’s gaze fixated on the MRI room, Gao Yang suddenly thought of Bruce.

His heart softened.

After a long sigh, Gao Yang nodded to Andy He and said, “Give them a hand.”

Andy He nodded, reaching out to the doctor who came with Peter.

The doctor was very cooperative and immediately handed over the x-rays to Andy He.

Looking at the two films, Andy He immediately said, “No problem, easy fix.”

Gao Yang sighed and said, “I meant the one who’s about to die.”

Andy He lifted his head and said, “Oh, that one.”

After that, Andy He said to the Russians in a serious tone, “Your friend seems to have suffered from a close-range blast wave.

Multiple fractures throughout his body, and his abdomen is continually swelling, right?”

The Russians nodded fiercely, and Andy He exhaled, “There must be serious internal injuries, possibly severe brain damage too.

Internal bleeding is the most lethal issue right now.

To locate the source of the internal bleeding, an MRI scan is needed, but here’s the thing—he’s so badly injured that by the time he would finish the scan, to put it bluntly, he’d be close to death.”

The Russians immediately surrounded Andy He, and Peter asked urgently, “What should we do?

Can you save him?”

Andy He shook his head, “I can’t.

Only God can confidently claim to save him.

I’m not God; I can’t guarantee it.

But there’s still a glimmer of hope for him now.

If we wait for a detailed examination, he’s as good as dead.

I want to know why aren’t we performing surgery to stop the bleeding and locate the bleeding point?”

The Russian called Lukin by Peter urgently said, “They don’t dare, they’re not skilled enough.

The best doctor isn’t in the hospital right now!”

Andy He spread his hands, “Well, there’s really nothing we can do about that.”

Peter, like clutching at straws, stood in front of Andy He, his voice trembling, “You have a way, right?

Please, I beg you, save him.

We are willing to pay any price.”

“Please!”

“Please!”

“Fuck!

What do you want, just say it!

Otherwise, I swear I’ll shoot you!”

A Russian lost his patience.

Andy He, not one to take kindly to threats, had dealt with many unscrupulous patients before, and was not afraid of intimidation.

Andy He looked up to the sky, showing his disdain for the threat.

Peter knew who he was dealing with and pleaded in a beseeching voice, “Please, help us!”

A proud man was begging bitterly for his friend.

Just as Gao Yang was about to tell Andy He to cut the crap, he saw Andy He raise two fingers and loudly say, “Two points.

First, your comrade, or friend, is as good as dead.

The doctor examining him is just following procedures.

Second, I might be able to save your friend, but only might.

If I save him, it’s a miracle I created.

If he dies, that’s to be expected.”

Andy He put his fingers down and quickly continued, “I can’t even guarantee a one percent chance of saving your comrade.

But our Boss sympathizes with you, so I can give it a try.

If you can accept a ninety-nine percent chance of your comrade’s death, I’ll try to work a miracle.

If not, forget it.”

After exchanging glances, Peter gnashed his teeth and loudly declared, “It’s all up to you!

We accept all your terms!”

Andy He turned to the remaining Russians, and after all of them nodded, he gestured with a wave of his hand and said loudly, “Go and bring the patient out, the operating room should be ready.

Take him straight to the OR.”

Now that they had decided to let Andy He operate, several Russians immediately burst through the door and rushed in.

At that point, Andy He told Peter, “The surgery may take a long time.

Don’t delay your arm any longer.

Come here, let’s reattach your arm.”

Peter shook his head, “No, no, I can wait.”

Andy He frowned and bellowed, “Shut up, and come here when I tell you to!”

After a moment of shock, Peter silently closed his mouth and stood in front of Andy He.

Andy He tossed the X-ray film onto a nearby chair, grabbed Peter’s shoulder, and rotated it a few times before shoving it forcefully.

Peter grunted in pain, and Andy He grumbled discontentedly, “Damn it’s tough, the other side.”

Peter shifted to one side, and Andy He grabbed his arm, pressing on the shoulder and rotating it several times before pushing it abruptly once more.

This time Peter couldn’t help but cry out.

After Andy He let go of his arm, a group of Russians wheeled out the seriously injured patient.

Peter moved his shoulder, looking in disbelief at Andy He, who was visibly impatient and said, “Get to the OR.

Whoever can’t help, don’t bother me.

Anyone unrelated should wait here.

And get me a nurse who speaks English, if not, find a translator, and make it quick.”

As soon as Andy He stepped into his role as a doctor, he always had a sour face and a bad temper, but at that moment, no one dared to utter a word of dissent.

Several Russians pushed the bewildered nurses aside, blocked the shouting doctors, and two of them ran with the operating table.

Andy He also started running.

Although he was in a bad mood, his movements were anything but slow.

Farouk and Gallanor followed suit because if they couldn’t find a nurse, they would have to act as interpreters.

Gilanor spoke excellent English, so interpreting shouldn’t be a problem.

Peter also took a few steps, but stopped just outside the elevator, remembering that it wasn’t particularly big and recalling Andy He’s warning.

A look of fear crossed Peter’s face as he stood in the hallway, watching as someone he recognized as the seriously wounded soldier was wheeled into the elevator.

Most of the Russians stayed behind, but once the elevator door closed, someone said urgently, “Should we, should we wait outside the OR?”

Peter shook his head and replied, “No, no, let’s wait here.

Just wait here for now.

What happened?”

One of the Russians slammed his fist against the wall in frustration before growling, “We were attacked en route, hit by a roadside bomb, very close to Palyuka’s vehicle.

The driver was killed instantly, Palyuka— you saw what happened.”

Peter exhaled and subconsciously touched his forehead, then realized he could move his hand again.

After unconsciously rotating his shoulder, he said with a resigned look, “Was it an escort mission?

How’s the protectee?

How many of our brothers died?”

“It was an escort mission, the protectee is totally fine.

One Syrian driver died, and only Palyuka was injured among our brothers; everyone else was fine.

Palyuka spotted it early, and the convoy was mostly safe.

When Palyuka had the vehicles back up, the enemy detonated the bomb remotely, followed by intense machine-gun fire.

But the enemy’s attack didn’t last long, and after we repelled their assault, we rescued Palyuka.

That’s what happened.

May God bless Palyuka to be safe.”

“May God bless him.”

The language of Peter and his group was Russian, but now Gao Yang could understand Russian.

Peter looked worried, glancing back at Gao Yang, then, after a moment’s hesitation, he approached Gao Yang.

Gao Yang smiled and asked, “What, do you have secrets that can’t be spoken here, needing to clear the room?”

Peter shook his head and said, “Forget it, it’s nothing important.

Besides, our lives depend on you now, so what more can I ask for?”

Gao Yang nodded and let out a sigh, “I understand how you feel.

Worrying won’t help.

Take a seat and wait here.

The operation will take at least a few hours, maybe even more.

Just wait patiently.

In this situation, slower is actually better.

If it’s over quickly, there’s only one possibility, um, just wait with peace of mind.”

Quickly, the only possibility meant that the patient had died, otherwise an operation wouldn’t end that fast.

Gao Yang didn’t say it out loud, though.

Peter also understood and nodded, then turned to Gao Yang and said, “Regardless of the outcome, thank you, and thank the doctor as well.

We all owe you a debt of gratitude.”

Gao Yang nodded, observing Peter’s hesitance to speak and then softly asked, “You want to ask how good our doctor is, don’t you?”

Peter eagerly replied, “That’s right, thank you.”

A group of Russians looked on anxiously as Gao Yang gestured drawing a circle and said earnestly, “He is the best surgeon in the world, no exaggeration.

If he can’t save your friend, then no one in this world can.

I can assure you of that.”

Although not doctors themselves, as soldiers, they all knew just how dire the condition of their seriously wounded comrade was.

They might not know how to save lives, but it didn’t prevent them from making the simplest of judgments about the injuries.

After all, it was clear to anyone but the blind that the soldier was nearing death.

Thus, at this moment, all the Russians were mentally prepared.

They also knew the situation was nearly hopeless, but upon hearing Gao Yang’s words, a glimmer of hope appeared before them.
