Mated To The Dead Prince -
Chapter 9
Chapter 9: Chapter 9
Cassius instantly paused midair on his attack on Rose when he heard the familiar voice in front of the door.
He turned his face to the door and saw a young man in a military buzz cut walking up to him.
His eyes instantly changed back to their normal color as he stared at his brother.
"Dabmond," Cassius called out quietly, completely turning away from Rose.
Rose didn’t dare look up, fearing the slightest movement from her would draw his attention back to her. She kept crouching beside the wall, wishing she could become smaller, or just turn invisible from the sight of that monster and his likes.
"You found a little human?" Dabmond asked as he looked past Cassius, staring at the girl who lay on the floor, crunched up in a fetal position.
Rose sneakily took a peak at her savior from below her arm, and she was surprised to see a vampire in a buzzcut. Everyone she’d seen wore their iconic long vampire hair or some other elegant style.
"She’s not mine," Cassius refuted disgustingly, turning his face to Rose and glaring at her with his cold eyes.
Rose’s heart was beating faster as time went by; she almost felt like she was going to die from a heart attack. As a fantasy story freak, she knew vampires could easily hear your heartbeat, especially when you’re scared or excited; she silently prayed to God to calm her heart down; she didn’t want to become a meal for anyone.
She blamed Laura for her predicament; maybe if she hadn’t told her about transmigration in the novel, she would have still been living freely in the human world, not stuck with these blood-sucking demons.
Amidst her fear and chaos, she couldn’t help thinking if this was the same Vlad she was reading about in her story, but then, where was Lucia? Or did she transmigrate into the wrong move, because looking at Cassius, as hard as it was for her to admit, he looked more handsome than what she had imagined Vlad to be?
Whatever this was, she didn’t want any of the transmigration; the only transmigration she wanted at that moment was the one that would take her back right into her apartment.
"You look well, brother; the long sleep turned you younger than me; I’m jealous," Dabmond said, once more drawing Cassius’s attention away from Rose.
Rose sighed when she felt Cassius’s glare move away from him; she subtly opened her eyes again, watching their interaction.
She saw Cassius raising his hand to Dabmond’s head, gently rubbing his hair while Dabmond took his right hand and kissed the back of it.
Rose was surprised to see Cassius show emotions for the first time, even if it was very little. She wondered who this Dabmond could be that brought out the soft side of the monster.
Or... was he gay? No, she heard him call him brother, maybe this was just the way vampires showed affection to their siblings.
Dabmond’s eyes suddenly found hers under her arm,m and she froze; she couldn’t pretend she wasn’t staring because she’d been caught red-handed.
Dabmond moved past Cassius and went to squat in front of Rose, looking her up and down.
"Sit up, human," Dabmond said gently, curious to see the human’s face that was able to get his aloof brother worked up.
Rose bit her lips, hoping this wouldn’t be the last time her heart beat within him; she hoped these vampires wouldn’t tear her in half and drink the blood that flowed out from her body.
Rose slowly raised herself from the floor, bracing her back against the wall with her head lowered. She didn’t want to look into the vampire’s eyes.
"What’s your name?" Dabmond asked Rose but got no reply.
Rose didn’t say anything to him, it’s not like knowing her name was going to help her out of her situation.
"Can I touch her?" Dabmond was already lifting his hand to her face when Cassius suddenly moved fast and held his hand from touching Rose’s skin.
"She’s not worthy," Cassius said, looking disdainful at Rose.
Rose kept her face lowered, tears trickling down her cheek. She didn’t ask for any of this.
She just wanted to go back to her normal and free life, but at this point, she would have preferred to become a puppet to her parents instead of becoming something worse than a slave to these vampires.
"Master, it’s done," Felonious’s voice rang behind them.
"Take her away to the dungeon," Cassiuss ordered darkly.
"Yes, master," Felonious replied and marched toward Rose.
Dabmond stood and walked toward Cassius, a worried look on his face.
Rose became incredibly scared; she’d known how Vampire dungeons are from the books she read; if it was truly how they were, then she dreaded going there; she knew she wouldn’t survive till the next day.
"Please, No! Let me go!" Rose cried weakly; her voice was already hoarse and dry from the cries and screams she’d been making since her transmigration into this world.
Felonious silently ignored her and picked her up by the arm, moving her towards the door.
Rose didn’t put up a fight, not like she didn’t want to, but she no longer had the strength to.
"But, brother, she’s not done anything wrong, she’s not like Moth-"
Whoosh!!!
Thud!!!
Rose almost fell to the floor from the strong gush of wind she felt behind her if Felonious wasn’t holding her up. In the next second, she saw Dabmond fly past her in a blur and heavily collide with the wall beside the door.
Sounds of bone and wall cracking filled the room as Dabmond fell to the floor with a loud thud, his head twisted at a very weird angle as a very dark liquid flowed out from the back of his head.
Rose covered her hands over her mouth to keep herself from screaming and to stop her throat from spilling the contents of her stomach. She felt very disgusted by the sight of vampire blood and the way Dabmond’s neck was twisted inhumanly.
She felt Felonious drag her out of the room, but she couldn’t even see where they were heading due to her blurred vision.
Rose was shaking with fear and was more alarmed as she saw Felonious acting all calm like he didn’t just watch someone get brutally murdered in front of him. She feared for her life, if Cassius could kill his brother, who was she that he would spare?
"Felonious," Cassius called from inside the room.
"Yes, master," Felonious paused instantly.
Rose stood in front of him, scared.
She was wondering if Cassius had suddenly changed his mind about selling her at an auction and now wanted to kill her instead.
She instantly changed her mind about wanting to stay in the dark castle till she could find her way home; it was better she got sold to someone else; no one would be as ruthless and vicious as the monster inside that room. She feared him.
"asigurați-vă că nu se hrănește," Cassius ordered in a chilling tone.
"Da domnule," Felonious replied with a slight bow.
’Gasp!’
Rose gasped and shrank away as she saw Cassius pass her by in his slow and steady fluid movement.
Cassius heard her fearful gasp, but he didn’t turn around, he kept walking ahead until he disappeared into the dark passageway.
Rose never imagined in her wildest dream that this would be the situation where her Romanian classes came in handy; she silently thanked her best friend for having forced her to learn the language. Now, she knew she wouldn’t be eating anything till the monstrous master ordered otherwise.
Rose was lost in thought and didn’t realize it when Felonious led her away from the study; the next thing she noticed was that she was now being led into dark spiraling stairs; the only lightening were the few torches that were sparingly hung on the wall as they walked down the stairs.
She noticed how strong the walls looked; no one would be able to do a prison break with these walls; they looked stronger than the Great Wall Of China in 1644. It was not like she was trying to escape anyway, she wouldn’t risk her life in that manner.
They reached the end of the stairs and the single gate in front of them opened on its own, echoing loudly in the eerily quiet dungeon.
Felonious led Rose into the dungeon and she reluctantly walked into a large passageway way with guards standing in front of each arched iron door, guarding their prisoners.
Rose observed the dungeon in fear as she was led to the last door at the end of the large dungeon, but she knew this wasn’t all there was to the dungeon because there seemed to be another door beside hers that led into another underground dungeon.
"You will stay here till tomorrow night," Felonious informed as he took a key from the wall and unlocked the huge iron door, pushing it open for Rose to enter the dark cold room.
Rose delayed for a second as she slowly turned to look at Felonious, tears falling from her face like the raindrops outside.
She didn’t want to die inside a dark, isolated dungeon in an unknown and strange land where no one would remember her. She didn’t want her life to end like that; she would do anything to go back to the human world, even if it meant living with her parents, and she wouldn’t mind, she would do it happily without complaint.
"Please, Felonious, I can’t go in there, I’ll die," Rose looked up at his eyes, begging hopelessly.
She wanted to hold onto his arms in desperation, but he moved away from her touch, looking down at the crying girl with no trace of emotions in his eyes.
"We all answer to the master, Rose. Dominik?" Felonious replied and slowly stepped away from Rose.
"Yes, Mage," A very tall and huge guard came and stood beside Rose, awaiting his order.
"Lock her up, no food until she leaves here," Felonious ordered and started walking away.
"No! Felonious! Mage! Please!" Rose wanted to run to him but Dominik caught her by the arm and carried her into the dungeon despite her struggles.
"Get your hands off me! Let me go! Please, I just want to go home!" Rose cried and fought as Domink easily chained her ankles to the wall, walking out immediately after completing his task.
"No, don’t leave me here. Come back please..." Rose sobbed defeatedly.
"Come back and release me, I just want to give home,"
SLAM!!!
The heavy iron door slammed closed, the loud sound fading out Rose’s cry and leaving her in absolute darkness.
Soon, Rose didn’t have any tears to shed anymore; she quietly sat in the darkness, bringing her legs up to her chest to hug herself, trying to keep herself warm from the harsh and bitter cold dungeon, the chains biting coldly and painful into the skin on her ankle.
After a while, the whole dungeon sank back into eerie silence; the only sound Rose heard was her beating heart, and she didn’t know if it would still keep beating in her current condition.
Maybe, before morning, it would have turned cold and dead, just like everyone’s heart in that realm...
