Mated To The Dead Prince -
Chapter 21
Chapter 21: Chapter 21
Rose knew that this was the main person she was supposed to be afraid of, not a crazy vampire who had attacked her for no reason.
As she moved up the stairs, her fingers held tightly onto the railing to hold her shaky legs up.
"S-sir, It’s n-not w-what it looks like..." Rose stammered as she saw Cassius’ eyes glowing brighter than the burning flames.
Cassius didn’t reply; he silently walked toward her, and when he saw that she had reached the closed door, he paused and slowly stretched out his hand to her.
"Walk with me, little human," He said, his voice barely over a whisper.
His demeanor instilled fear in Rose, her thoughts were going in different directions regarding how hard he was going to punish her this time.
She knew she had done wrong this time, but if he could only listen and hear her out, he would understand that none of it was her fault.
"Come here, Rose," Cassius beckoned quietly, his eyes returning to their normal sea-green color.
Rose was surprised to hear him call her by her name. And seeing that his eyes had stopped to glow made her relax a little bit.
She knew she might be feeling delusional just because he had called her name so softly; at that moment, as she stared at him, she wasn’t that scared anymore; his eyes seemed like they were begging her to come down to him to alleviate his loneliness.
Moved by the unknown emotions that were drawing her to him, Rose started to walk back down to him, her eyes glued on his.
Cassius watched Rose carefully, her blue eyes seemed to be searching his for something, and he felt himself willing to meet her to find whatever it was she was searching for.
He felt her warm hands in his and sighed, feeling the warmth seeping into his cold heart. He didn’t move to drag her with him; he purposely stood still, wanting to let her warmth seep through his cold veins. He’s never been alive, but he felt kind of alive, feeling Rose’s warmth.
He was imagining what it would feel like to have her blood pumping directly into his mouth and down his throat.
Could it make his dead heartbeat?
Rose suddenly realized that she was now standing in front of Cassius, her hand in his, but instead of panicking, she slowly took her time to study his face.
It was just like she had seen him the first time inside that coffin in that cave, smooth and pristine. She was almost tempted to raise her hand and feel how smooth his skin was.
"You’re staring, little human," Cassius suddenly spoke, startling her.
Rose was about to step back, but Cassius tightened his hold on her hand.
"Don’t...walk with me," He ordered and started leasing her down the stairs.
Rose blinked her eyes, biting her lips as she realized what she was about to do before he spoke to her.
She was mortified about what would have happened if she actually did it.
What even drove her to want to touch the enemy’s face? Cassius would have surely had his or her hand chopped off.
"Oof! I’m sorry!" Rose suddenly tripped on her feet and bumped her side into Cassius.
Cassius paused, stared at her, and then continued walking, dragging her along beside him.
Rose was hyperventilating. She didn’t know what was happening to her, but she was suddenly feeling flustered beside Cassius.
She realized that he was leading her behind the staircase. She never knew there was a passage beneath the staircase until that moment when Cassius pushed open a sturdy wooden door beside the wall of the stairs.
As she reluctantly followed him inside, the low temperature of the far passage made her hair stand in apprehension.
She so wanted to ask him where he was taking her, but she knew that speaking now might lead to her demise, given that he was still angry at her for breaking his expensive-looking plates and also this dangerous location.
She decided to remain quiet and let him lead her to wherever he wanted.
Cassius could hear her thoughts; one of the things he found intriguing about her thoughts was the fact that he could hear them, even without touching her.
With others, he needed to touch them before he heard their thoughts, but with his human slave, he’s discovered that as long as she was close to him, her thoughts always poured into her head as long as he had his eyes on her. He wondered why it was so, and it was among the things he was going to ask his mage to look into.
He didn’t comment on her amusing thoughts of how he might want to kill her in the cold, dark passage. It wasn’t worth his time,
He led her up other stairs before they finally stopped in front of a tall, metal, dark door.
Rose saw Cassius’ figure halt in front of the door, and her heart leaped in her chest. The door alone was frightening.
Was this where he killed her?
He probably had chains and other torture tools behind that door.
Rose was quickly thinking about how she was going to escape. Maybe she could scream for help, Eliot was still around, and he would surely to her aid.
She’d read books, and she knew how these vampire books described how the vampire kings tormented and tortured their human slaves. She didn’t want to end like those poor and helpless characters.
Cassius was about to push the door open when he suddenly couldn’t take it anymore.
He suddenly flung her back against the door and caged her between his arms, his sea-green narrowing to slits as he stared down hard at her.
Rose gasped in shock when she felt her back against the door, her heart racing as she clenched her fists beside her in utter fear.
"Your thoughts are too loud, little human," Cassius tilted her head up from under her chin, seeing the way her blue eyes went from side to side in fear.
Rose was speechless. She didn’t know what to say. Rather, she did the only thing that came to her mind.
’I’m sorry,’ She apologized through her thoughts, knowing he’d hear her.
"I’ve warned you before, Little human," Cassius searched her eyes.
"But if you keep thinking about such things, I’ll do to you way worse than those books described, and, not even your Eliot could save you, Little human..." Cassius trailed off, smirking coldly at her as he heard her pulse beating faster.
He slowly raised his hand and traced the vein beside her neck, then gently placed his fingers on the side of her neck, slowly lowering his face to hers.
Her scent was so tempting. An urge to drink from her was growing higher as he stared at her clear innocent eyes, and he knew her blood would taste so good. But since he couldn’t taste her blood, he’d taste something else. He couldn’t resist the sudden urge to taste anything from her, anything.
Rose saw Cassius lowering his face to her and felt her pulse racing between her collarbone, but this time, it wasn’t out of fear. It was out of a sudden yearning that made her want her enemy in a way one should never want an enemy.
"Have you ever kissed a vampire, little human?" Cassius’ voice whispered seductively against her lips.
Rose licked her lips which suddenly went dry, gulping, "I- I..."
"Don’t answer that," He whispered and suddenly covered her warm lips with his cold ones.
Rose froze as she felt his cold lips gently move against hers. She had thought that she would be repulsed by Cassius’ kiss, but it was quite the contrary.
The gentle way he moved his lips against hers as if she were some fragile doll he didn’t want to break made her weak on the knees. Her breathing was getting deeper and a certain kind of desire washed over her.
This was wrong, but it felt right in every way. Rose suddenly kissed him back, she matched his energy and gently sucked on his bottom lip, then slowly slid her tongue between his lips.
Cassius paused, but she didn’t. He let her kiss him, and closed his eyes, savoring the way her sweet lips ate his like he was the only source of water in a desolate desert.
Her lips warmed his and Rose seemed to have been lost in kissing him because she didn’t realize that he had stopped and was watching her.
Cassius had never had a human before, and it had been centuries since he had a woman; seeing his little human kissing him so sensually awoke the desires that had long been dead with his soul.
"Mmm..." Hearing Rose’s soft moan and feeling her suddenly wrap her hands around his neck made all his restraint let loose.
He slowly moved his face away from hers, watching in fascination as she pouted in disappointment as she stared up at him with her desire raw in her eyes.
She wasn’t alone, his eyes were starting to glow red as his desire shot through the roof.
For the first time, he didn’t see fear in her eyes, only desire and want, and he suddenly wanted that to be the only way she looked at him from then on.
None of them said a word, it was as if they could communicate with their eyes.
Slowly, Cassius started to lower his face down to hers again, and Rose was ready for him this time, she tipped her toes and covered the distance between their lips.
This time, there was nothing gentle about the kiss; they felt possessed by the blinding lust that was compelling them to want more from each other. They couldn’t explain it, but they felt it.
Cassius pushed her hard against the door and snaked a hand around her slim waist, drawing her plush against himself.
He kissed her so passionately, allowing her tongue to taste the tip of his tongue. He was about to lower his hand below her waist when he suddenly got interrupted.
"I need to speak to you, brother," Eliot spoke beside them.
Rose startled, trying to pish Cassius away, but he didn’t budge; he simply raised his face from her and looked at his brother.
"What’s the matter, Athan?" He asked indifferently.
"It’s about Scarlet," Eliot informed.
Rose was uncomfortable; she could feel Eliot’s hurt gaze on her, and she didn’t know how she was ever going to face him after this.
