Mated To The Dead Prince -
Chapter 19
Chapter 19: Chapter 19
Rose was kneeling in front of Cassius in his study, she was uneasy because each time she was summoned to that place, she ended up getting hurt.
Eliot was standing beside Cassius in front of her, his face marked with worry for her.
Dabmond and his twin brothers were standing behind her while they waited for Felonious.
Cassius had called for him, he needed an explanation as to why her blood was the way it was.
She slowly raised her face, looking over at Eliot, pleading with him with her eyes.
’It’s going to be alright, Rose,’ She heard Eliot’s voice inside her head, just like it happened with Aisling at the auction house.
She thought she was officially going crazy but the look of shock she saw on Eliot’s face told her she wasn’t.
He was staring at her with his head tilted to the side, his eyes narrowing suspiciously at her.
Rose was stuck looking at Eliot, she didn’t know how to act without implicating herself in front of Cassius. But, before she could remove her eyes from Eliot’s, she heard his voice again.
’Rose, if you can hear me, look to the ground,’ Eliot’s voice sounded faintly in her head.
Rose slowly looked to the ground, confirming to Eliot that she could really hear his thoughts.
"No way," Eliot whispered.
Rise panicked as Cassius immediately turned his face to Eliot, narrowing his eyes at him and then slowly turning his face toward her, his cold eyes piercing his soul.
Rose gulped, she knew Cassius was super smart, and he might be able to figure out what was going on between her and Eliot. She was scared he might just decide to kill her off if he discovered this strange ability she suddenly possessed.
"Seems you really want to die, little human," Cassius easily walked toward Rose, his hand finding her throat.
Rose clenched her fists; she hated his touch; she hated everything about him; his touch was exactly the same as the blood on his skin; it burnt her skin, just that, in her case, there was no evidence of burn. But she just hayed his touch, hated him so much.
"I’ve told you before," Cassius tilted her back, "Control your thoughts around me; one more hateful thought toward me will be the end of you," He warned.
Rose looked down, scared, "Yes, sir," she replied.
Cassius glared at her, she always referred to him as Sir. Why can’t she call him Master like every other slave did?
"Master, you called for me," Felonious entered the room, his head bowed to all the princes of the dark.
Cassius removed his sight from Roae and looked toward Felonious.
"What did you find about her blood?" He questioned, his face, stoic.
Felonious careful thought about his experiment so far before replying.
"She passed the test, her soul is pure, but I might say...too pure," He informed.
Cassius frowned, looking back at Rose
Pure? Did it mean she was telling the truth about how she came over to his kingdom?
"What do you mean when you say, her blood is too pure?" Eliot asked, happy yet concerned.
Felonious looked over at Rose, still a little bit confused by his little findings, but he was going to tell the princes what he’s known so far.
"Her blood didn’t turn the Luminaris Aquaris black, rather, it purified it," Felonious walked further into the room.
Dabmond and his brothers were getting confused with each explanation.
"Felonious, just tell us at once; I hate the suspense," Damon commented curiously.
"Luminaris Aquaris is already a purifying liquid, how could her blood have purified it?" Damien asked.
Cassius had walked behind his table, his cold eyes silently boring into Rose’s soul.
"I’m sorry, young princes, I’ll explain it more clearly," Felonious walked toward Rose, standing in front of her.
He took out a small clip from his long coat and clipped off one of his long nails, placing it in front of Rose.
Rose raised her face, staring at the mage with curiosity; something told her he was about to do something weird.
"Your hand, Please," He stretched out his hand to Rose.
Rose quickly sent a look to Eliot, and he subtly nodded at her. He knew Felonious was going to hurt her again, but he also knew that Cassius might end up killing her if she refused.
Rose slowly looked back at Felonious, offering him her already cut wrist.
"Don’t worry, I’ll heal you," Felonious whispered as he unwrapped Eliot’s handkerchief from her wrist.
Rose nodded.
Felonious saw the cut that was already on her wrist and made another small cut beside it.
"Ahh!" Rose winced, biting her lips.
Maybe she might die in the hands of a vampire anyway; she might just end up dying from lack of blood from the way these creatures were cutting her open at their will as if she was some kind of specimen to them.
Felonious bent her wrist over, dropping her blood on his clipped nail, and immediately, it sizzled and dissolved into thin air.
Everyone was looking on in amazement, but Cassius was looking at her with unfamiliar eyes; he had never been this clueless about someone his whole existence; it troubled him that he could not just figure her out in a single glance like he would with any other person.
"This is what I mean when I said her blood is purifying," Felonious waved his hands over Rose’s wrist, healing her wounds.
"It did the same thing to the purifying liquid, dried it up, unheard of, but it’s happened. And it will do the same to anything that is of the dark world because its work is to purify whatever that isn’t pure...like our souls," Felonious explained clearly.
Cassius finally understood his reasoning, yet, he questioned why her blood had to be so. Was it how all humans’ blood worked?
"Is it just her? Or is this how all humans’ blood reacts to us?" Damon asked.
Felonious shook his head, "I believe it’s just her," Felonious replied.
Rose was quiet; she, too, was surprised by the revelation. Her blood was a purifier? How did she get here?
"Um, I think we’re all forgetting the most important thing," Damien spoke, stepping toward Eliot.
"What’s that?" Eliot asked.
Cassius slowly walked over to Rose and then placed a hand on her shoulder. "Get up," He said to her.
Rose slowly stood, her eyes searching his face; his cold fingers were gently holding her wrist as he led him toward Eliot.
Cassius then turned to face the mage, "Then, why does her blood hurt me, and doesn’t hurt him?" He questioned dangerously, his eyes piercing Felonious.
Felonious felt the looming danger; he knew that Cassius thought he had lied to him about some things, but he had; he was even surprised by the revelation.
Felonious bowed his head, "I’m sorry, Master, I know nothing about that, but I am still experimenting with a strand of her hair; I promise to give you an answer to all your questions when I’m done," He replied apologetically.
Cassius stared at Rose for a while before waving Felonious away.
"You have two nights," Cassius informed.
Felonious nodded, "Yes, Master, I will not fail you," He replied before quickly walking out of the room.
Rose was once again alone with the vampire brothers. Tension was thick in the air.
"Brother, it is dangerous for you to bond her to you," Eliot suddenly spoke.
Cassius paused, he remained quiet for a while before speaking.
"And you think I do not know that?" Cassius asked, his eyes narrowed.
Eliot walked forward, placing a hand on Cassius’ shoulder.
"I never said you are lacking that knowledge, brother; I only speak out of concern for you. If you had made her a general slave, it would have just been her who would be drinking your blood. But you know the rules better than all of us; you’re the master, the king of the dark kingdom. And any slave you have claimed as yours must carry your mark, and you, too, must carry hers," Eliot explained slowly.
Rose was surprised, things just kept getting more complicated.
’Are they trying to make me drink that monster’s blood?’ Rose thought.
She wouldn’t.
"You know why, Athan, she woke me; she has to be mine, as a mate, or as a slave; she must be bound to me," Cassius pinned his eyes on Rose as she said that, seeing her little frown.
"Don’t worry, little human, I don’t want you as a mate either; a slave is just the best fit for you," Cassius said to her, gently caressing her cheek.
Rose moved her face away from him, forcing her mind to be quiet and not curse him out.
"If I may, brother, I don’t mean to upset you, but if she is causing you many problems, I don’t mind taking her with me; after all, her blood doesn’t hurt me," Eliot suggested.
Cassius’ demeanor changed the moment he heard Eliot talk about going with Rose. Just like he felt when he talked about the same thing at the auction house, he felt angered, as if he was asked to give out his most valued possession.
It annoyed him, he didn’t like the fact that he felt that way for a human slave, but whatever the reason might be, he wasn’t going to give his slave away to his brother.
"Don’t worry brother, I’m sure there’s a way. She’ll be mine, in the end," Cassius said coldly.
