Mated To The Dead Prince -
Chapter 16
Chapter 16: Chapter 16
Rose saw the seriousness on the Mage’s face and understood the severity of the matter.
She slowly raised her hand to Felonious’ opened palm.
Rose reeled back on the stool as Felonious suddenly raised his hand to her face.
"W-what d-do y-you want t-to d-do?" Rose stammered, the hairs on her back standing in fear.
Was he planning to slice her open from her face?
"Be still; we have to stop the bleeding," Felonious said and firmly placed his hand on Rose’s shoulder, steadying her.
Rose only calmed down when she heard he was going to heal her bleeding nose, she sat erect on the stool and raised her face to him.
She noticed that the runes on Felonious’ face seemed to glow from the moment they entered his lair; he looked so attuned to everything in the room.
Felonious raised his hand to Rose’s face and placed his thumb on her forehead, a soft white light emanated from his finger and slowly absorbed into Rose’s skin.
Rose instantly shivered as she felt a gentle and warm sensation seep into her forehead and spread throughout her body. The blood that was trickling down her nose seized immediately. She raised her hand to touch her nose, but the mage took it in his before she could reach her nose.
"This will hurt," Felonious warned as he led Rose to the next table and placed her hand over a transparent chronicle flask with a very clear liquid inside it.
Rose gritted her teeth and nodded, giving him a sign to go ahead.
Honestly, she, too, was curious to find out why her blood burned the vampire’s skin.
"Aasshh!" Rose winces in pain as Felonious’ sharp blade easily slices open her palm.
He tilts her hand over the flask, letting the blood drop into it.
Rose watched with interest as her blood slowly diffused through the water, spreading out and distributing evenly.
"You’re quite a bleeder," Felonious said as he immediately healed Rose’s palm, which seemed ready to bleed out for another ten hours.
"Uh," Rose mumbled and went back to her seat.
Felonious returned to keep the cleaned knife from where he took it from, but suddenly, he heard a popping sound behind him.
"What’s happening?" Rose asked in shock as she stared at the flask.
Her blood started to emit white smoke while popping, reminding her of hydrogen gas mixed with air.
She stared with interest, she wanted to know the fascinating reason why her blood suddenly turned special.
"This is unusual," Felonious said as he went back to the table and observed the flask; it slowly stopped boiling, and as the white smoke cleared up, the volume of the liquid drastically reduced in the flask.
"Your blood is toxic, yet, purifying," Felonious said with interest, staring at Rose and then back to the chronicle flask.
"How?" Rose questioned, her interest piqued.
"This is a magical flask, the markings indicate levels of magical energy, and the content was Luminaris Aquari, a magical liquid that enables me to monitor and detect substances or liquids that are pure or impure," Felonious explained and picked up the flask and turned to Rose.
Rose noticed how the content went from 300ml down to 100ml; she could see how the color was now darker compared to before when the volume of the liquid was still bigger than her blood.
"So, what did you mean when you said my blood is toxic yet purifying?" She asked quietly.
"I can only tell you that the Luninaris Aquari has never popped or reduced in volume before," Felonious put the flask down and picked up a pair of scissors from the table.
"It’s only known for showing white smoke for purified souls and dark smoke for condemned souls. But, your blood smokes, popped, and burnt out the magical liquid," Felonious suddenly cut a few strands of hair from the tip.
Rose gasped in shock, staring at her hair in Felonious hands.
What was he going to do now?
She thought about his explanations and grew more curious to find out just how toxic her blood could be if a vampire drank it, she didn’t mind cutting herself and filling a glass up for Cassius to drink and die.
"Return to your duties; I have work to do," Felonious ordered.
Rose suddenly remembered she was now a maid and her duties were waiting for her. She stood and observed Felonious as he brought out strange objects and herbs from different parts of his shelf, and she couldn’t help but wonder what he was going to do with her hair.
"Go," He said without turning to look at her.
Rose sighed quietly and left the Mage’s lair.
***
Rose had just come up the stairs from the Mage’s lair when she was met with three guys with almost similar striking features to that monster, Cassius; they were standing in her path, planning to stop her from passing.
She quietly moved to the other side, her face turned away from them as she went to pass them by.
"Hey, hey, hey, hold up," Damon was the one to run forward and block Rose’s path with his hands spread out.
Rose lifted her face and stared at the blue-eyed guy, frowning slightly at him.
"Could you excuse me? I have work to do," She said in a low but firm voice.
"Ah, but we’ve just heard you hurt our brother, our king and master..." Damien said and slowly walked toward her, putting his arms on her shoulder.
Rose was starting to feel scared; being cornered by three vampires wasn’t something you witness every day; she looked from Damon then to Damien but when her eyes reached Dabmond, a look of betrayal flashed through her eyes.
For what it’s worth, she had come to believe that Dabmond was the kindest of them all, even if she still hated him because he was a vampire and was related to that devil, somehow, she still managed to see him differently.
But, now, she has seen how wrong she was in her thoughts about him. He had gone and gathered his brothers to come to punish her.
"Drop it, guys, this wasn’t what we agreed," Dabmond came over removed Damien’s hand from Rose’s shoulder, and pushed Damon out of the way.
"Walk with us?" Dabmond said to Rose, extending his hand to Rose.
Rose stared skeptically at Dabmond’s hand before she reluctantly placed her hand on his.
"She’s cute," Damon commented behind them.
"Shut up, Damon, don’t creep the human out," Damien warned.
"Guys, her name is Rose, it’ll be polite of you both to address her by her name, understood?" Dabmond asked.
"Yes, understood, sir," Damon replied jestfully.
"Meet my twin brothers, they can be mischievous, but pay them no heed," Dabmond whispered.
"Oh," Rose replied, nodding her head.
No wonder they looked so much alike, so they were triplets? Interesting.
As they walked on, Rose got uncomfortable with the whole escort; and when they reached the bottom of the stairs, she stood, looking left and right in confusion about where to go next.
Should she go back to the slave’s quarters and ask for the Susan lady who assigns duties? Should she go and meet Cornelia?
But first, she had to find a way to escape these vampires now.
"What’s the matter, Rose? Why’d you stop?" Dabmond asked, facing her.
Rose shifted away from him but suddenly stepped on Damon’s foot.
"Ouch, Princess, I’m a vampire but I still feel pain, you know?" Damon complained as he hopped on one leg.
"That name suits you, don’t you think, Princess?" Dabmond asked, smiling at Rose.
Rose wasn’t going to lie to herself; she was starting to feel flattered by these young vampires; they were nothing like their brother.
Why did he have to be so dark and evil?
"I need to meet Susan, but I don’t know who she is," Rose said to them.
Damien frowned, "You don’t need Susan, Princess. From now on, you only answer to Cornelia, she’s in charge of the maids in the Castle, and since you’re our brother’s slave, she’ll be the one in charge of assigning you duties. Duties concerning only your master," Damien came and pushed Dabmond out of the way, grabbing Rose’s hand and leading her away from his twin brothers.
"So, for now, you’re free of duties, I’ve been wanting to get hold of you since I saw you in my brother’s arms and ask you some questions," Damien said as he led her towards another passage she had never gone through.
"Your brother’s...arms?" Rose asked in disbelief.
When had she ever been in the monster’s arms, she would never allow him to hold her, even if it was her only means of getting out of trouble.
"Oh, you didn’t know? He carried you so gently and took you up to his chamber, and- Brother?!" Damien suddenly paused, but Rose was still deep in thought, thinking about what Damien was telling her when she suddenly bumped into a broad chest.
"Uhg, oh no!" She froze as she looked up to see who was standing in front of her.
How didn’t she notice? She suddenly looked back to ask Damien for help, but he was nowhere to be found.
Rose cursed him a billion times in her head as she slowly turned to look at Cassius, who stood in his position, refusing to move away from her.
"I-I’m sorry, I was just trying to..." Rose paused and tried to step away from him but he wrapped his hand around her tiny waist, holding her against himself.
Cassius lifted her face as he brought his face down beside her ears and whispered, "Just now, you swore never to let me hold you, but look, you desperately ran into my arms, little human," Cassius lowered his face to her neck and took a deep sniff of her scent, feeling her pulse fastening from his proximity.
"Oh! Thank you, master. I’ve been searching everywhere for her. Come now, Rose, don’t try to run away from your duties," Cornelia appears from behind them and drags Rose out of Cassius’ arms.
Rose suddenly shook her head as she walked away with Cornelia, understanding what had just happened. She looked back but couldn’t find Cassius anymore and she was almost forced to believe that she had imagined it.
She frowned as she remembered how, for a second, in his arms, she didn’t feel like pushing him away; in fact, she felt like she wanted to hold him too, and for the first time, she didn’t really feel the hostility from him.
She must be going crazy, this dark world has finally succeeded in tweaking her brain cells.
Because if she wasn’t going mad, what other reason would make her feel that way toward a monster?
