Mated To The Cruel Prince

Chapter 336: Old Tricks

Rosalind blinked in confusion to see Issac’s fiancée. What was she doing out here? However, she stiffened upon seeing the missing Wrry cat in her arms and she stroked the cat with an unreadable expression. Rosalind caught sight of the medallion as well and her grasp around the knife tightened, a deadly aura coming off her in waves. The Fae must know what was going on and must die.

"Sorry to interrupt you or whatever it was you were up to?" Issac’s fiancée Maxi said, with not an ounce of suspicion in her eyes which made Rosalind a bit confused. Perhaps, she was thinking too much and the Fae had stumbled here by mistake.

Yes, stumbled here by mistake with both the cat and the Wrry Cat. Rosalind found it hard to believe, this was a delicate situation. She eased up a little but didn’t lower her guard.

"I was enjoying the night air when I stumbled upon this cute, adorable cat, any chance you know who it belongs to?" Issac’s fiancée inquired.

Rosalind realized that this was the Fae’s first time in the palace and she must be overreacting too much. So she carefully set the load – Islinda – behind her and rubbed her clammy palms down her clothes and put on an act as she was used to.

"Oh right," She scratched the back of her head nervously, "The cat belongs to Miss Islinda. However, she is with Prince Aldric but I’ll be delighted to get those off your hands." She added with a polite smile, "If you wish of course. But you should know Wrry Cats are imps and can be quite a handful."

Of course, Rosalind does not care about the cat but is anxious to get her hands on the medallion. That would make her work so much easier; no one would track her whereabouts easily.

"Of course! I would not mind," The ignorant Fae said to her delight.

This was much easier than she thought and perhaps there would be no need to kill Issa’s fiancée since she would be out of there before any of them realized what she had done, with the help of the medallion. The less Fae she killed, especially Issac’s fiancée, the less scores Aldric has to settle with her.

"Although," Issac’s dumb fiancée said, stroking Prince Wayne’s fur, "I think he was quite a delightful company. But I wouldn’t mind handing him over to you, my shy Fae is waiting for me and we have a lot of plans for tonight," She gave her a knowing wink with a silly smile.

Rosalind gave her a sweet smile that didn’t touch her eyes while gagging inwardly at the mental images that assaulted her mind. She had pictured the Fae together in bed with Issac and it was disgusting.

She reached for the Wrry cat, meeting its gaze and warning it to behave having recalled their little drama in Islinda’s room.

"Cute cat," She rocked it gently in her arms, all smiles even though the thoughts she had for the creature were malevolent. Maybe she will leave with it too and teach the damn cat a lesson for the interruption to her plans.

"I’ll have that too," She held out her hand for the medallion.

"Oh right," Issac’s fiancée was about to hand it over to her when she stopped halfway, looking over her shoulder, "What is that?"

Rosalind went rigid at once, her hand digging into the cat’s side to the point it let out a sound of displeasure. One that she ignored.

"It’s rubbish."

"Rubbish?"

"Yes, it’s something I have to get rid of and it’s about time I got moving. There is a lot of work yet to be done." Rosalind informed her, hoping the Fae would leave it at that.

"Is that so?" Issac’s fiancée lifted a brow, her eyes still on the stack on the ground.

Rosalind had to straighten up, standing in her view. She felt uneasy with the interrogation knowing she might slip up having not prepared for this. Not to mention, she could not lie and had to manipulate and dance around the truth.

"Now the medallion," She demanded, only to catch herself afterward and add softly, "If you wish for me to have it of course. I can send it to Prince Aldric."

"Of course, you can have it," Issac’s fiancée was about to hand it over to her, only to say, "After you tell what’re doing with Islinda bundled up like that, Rosalind?"

Rosalind’s eyes rounded as the Fae’s light tone became serious and there was a smirk at the corner of her lips. Realizing she had been caught, Rosalind did not waste time tossing the cat away and swiped the knife as quickly as lightning, intending to stab her by surprise.

However, Maxi caught her hand and stated smugly, "Aren’t you tired of old tricks?"

Rosalind slammed her air magic at Maxi which only pushed her back a few steps only for her to catch her footing. She glanced up at the Fae with a mad glint in her eyes, "Let’s finish this, shall we?"

They charged at each other, and Maxi parried every single strike Rosalind aimed at her with the iron knife. She then added her air magic to the attack, creating deadly air strikes but the dark Fae horseshifter warded off every single one of them.

Maxi was faster than her, even using her air magic to facilitate her movements as Rosalind turned on the heat. But the harder she fought, the less impact it had on Maxi until she lost her focus and Maxi was able to get close enough to punch her right in the face.

"Aww," Rosalind cried out at the sickening crunch, yet she still stabbed at Maxi, but it was empty air she met.

Maxi from behind kicked the back of her legs and they gave out, forcing her down on her knees. The next Rosalind slashed at her, she kicked the knife away and her air magic did little harm to her.

"Now, my turn," Maxi announced with a cruel curl of her lips only for her eyes to turn entirely black and Rosalind let out a scream as she experienced the most excruciating pain in her head.
