Islinda barely recovered from the dizzying effect of the sporadic ride only for her back to hit a plush bed and Eli hovering over her. The gods help her, they were already in his bedroom. Before she could grasp control of her senses, he pressed his lips to hers and kissed her hungrily.
Other times, Islinda would have been turned on by the passion in his kisses, but Eli had a motive and she was not in compliance. She squirmed beneath him and placed both hands on his chest trying to push him away but he was like a strong boulder and could not be moved.
However, Islinda did not give up and continued to push at him until Eli grunted at the disturbance, catching her wrists and pushing her arms above her head, trapping her. Islinda managed to tear her mouth away, saying with a heavy breath, "No, Eli, listen to me –"
He captured her lips again in a punishing kiss so she wasn’t able to say a word, swallowing the rest of her incomprehensible sounds. Damn it, Eli was not listening to her on purpose. He knew she didn’t want this and yet he wasn’t listening. Damn the bastard!
Islinda grabbed a fistful of his hair and yanked hard enough to cause him pain, however, she forgot that this was Eli, Aldric’s alter ego and pain only did the opposite. It turned him on. To her annoyance, the pain spurred him and he lifted her ankle, wrapping her leg around him, and moved against her.
By the gods, Islinda moaned into his mouth, her senses reeling from the pleasure. No, She can’t give in. Sure, her body wanted this and she liked him, but this was not it. Eli was trying to manipulate her emotions for his selfish purpose and that alone sent anger surging through her.
With enough strength, Islinda managed to break apart from him and smacked him hard across the face.
"Damn you, Eli!" She spat at him, her body trembling with the amount of anger building inside of her.
She had expected this behavior from Aldric, not him. The disappointment was boldly written across Islinda’s face and thankfully, Eli did not force her any longer. She would really hate to fight him off her.
Although he stopped his advances, Eli still did not get off her body. The both of them stared at each other with intensity, their chest heaving and their breathing quick and shallow.
Islinda recoiled in fear when Eli suddenly moved, thinking he was about to force himself on her, but he only rested his forehead on her, saying,
"I’m so sorry, princess. I’m so sorry."
Islinda was utterly dumbfounded, having no idea what to say or react, and remained stiffly in that position. Eli kept on muttering the apology over and over to the point she became quite embarrassed.
"No, it’s alright...." Islinda said to him but either Eli was not listening or he was far gone because his apologies became hysterical causing Islinda to frown and felt uneasy with the development.
"Eli...." She shook his shoulder but he wouldn’t stop saying sorry over and over again.
"Eli!" Islinda called him forcefully this time, shoving his shoulder hard and his eyes finally snapped open.
Their eyes met.
Fuck.
Islinda forgot to breathe. No, she could not breathe, not with the shattering pain in his eyes. It was like a stab to the heart and she unconsciously clutched at her chest, feeling the beating organ squeeze painfully and she gasped for air like a drowning victim.
"Eli..." She reached for him with a trembling hand, stroking his face, and did not realize a tear slipped down her cheek. There was just so much pain in his eyes than she could ease. She wanted to heal him. To make him feel better. His soul needed comfort.
But how could she heal him when there were ghosts of older wounds circling there? There were just so many layers of pain hidden beneath she had no idea where to reach or start from.
By the gods, what was going on with her? Islinda could not understand a thing even as her eyes were filled with tears. It was as if someone dug a hand into her chest and grasped her heart, squeezing hard. It hurt so much.
"Eli...." Islinda whispered his name, wishing to offer him some measure of comfort even though she was the one in pain.
Eli’s eyes teared up as he spoke, "I want to have babies. I want to have those cute, adorable, little demons with their chubby arms and innocent eyes that promise not to harm until they’re pulling your hair," He repeated Maxi’s words but with emotion.
Islinda swallowed a lump in her throat, recognizing the vulnerability in his eyes. His words were exactly contrary to Aldric’s and that was the difference between the both of them. Aldric was good at masking his emotions and would not show such weakness to her, but Eli was opening up to her.
He continued, "I want to be a father one day.... I want a family.... I want to be l–loved..."
Islinda’s heart had never pounded this hard since she existed. No, she was going to have a heart attack. The pain had eased a bit, but it was still there, throbbing in her chest.
She tried to speak but no words could come out, instead, she cradled his face with both palms, and his eyelids fluttered closed as he leaned into her touch. It soothed him and he did not want to let go.
Islinda had no idea where the confidence came from but she confessed, "You are loved already, Eli."
Eli’s eyes opened at that statement and bored into hers, searching for the truth in her gaze and she did not cower one bit. She liked him. She wanted him to live. To survive. To be happy. He deserved to be loved. And it hurt that she would not be here to see that happen. Rosalind loved him already. He just did not know that yet. He was loved more than he knew it. The Fae would take care of him.
Islinda was the one that kissed him this time. This was the last time she would be with him and she had to make it count. She kissed him hard, growling unsatisfied when she sensed hesitation from him.
"What?" She huffed, annoyed.
He shook his head, "I was not in my right mind earlier. I let myself get carried and would not put you through –"
Islinda shut him with a kiss, breaking away only to say, "We are not making any baby for now. It’s my body and I decide what to do with it. We’ll leave the baby-making for later, now make love to me, Eli, as if it’s the last night of our life. " She tugged him forward, without realizing the gravity of her words.
Eli blinked with shock, however, Islinda was down for business. By the time her hands roamed across his body, grinding against him, all while kissing him, he gave in to the feeling.
Tonight was the gentlest Eli had been with her, Islinda realized. He took his time as if he was trying to imprint his mark and claim ownership of her body. And then he was inside of her, thrusting with so much affection in his eyes her heart surged with an unexplainable emotion. When she came, they came together and Islinda had no words to describe what the experience felt like.
"I feel sleepy." That word jolted Islinda to reality and for the first time, dread filled her.
She did not want to leave him, Islinda realized to her shock. But she had no choice. This can’t last forever.
"I’m sorry," That was the last word Islinda could say to him as the drug took him to sleep faster than she had expected.
It was not hard to find the medallion considering they teleported with it. Although the night was messed up, everything still worked out for her.
"I’m truly sorry, Eli but we just don’t belong together," Islinda kissed him on the lips one last time, wiping away the tears.
It was harder than she had thought leaving him. It almost felt like her heart was ripping into two but she had to do it. And so she left, back to her room where Rosalind was waiting as planned.
"I packed your things already. I even put in a bit of coins that might help in your journey." Rosalind gestured to the bag on her bed.
Islinda stared at the bag with mixed emotions. This was freedom and yet it felt so wrong. As if she was taking the wrong decision.
"I don’t think I want to leave anymore," Islinda announced all of a sudden, feeling freer than she had expected.
"What?!" Rosalind stared at her with wide eyes, "No, no, no, we made a deal. You said you would leave and I –"
"Well, I don’t want to leave anymore." She swallowed, "I think there’s a chance I might be able to change Aldric. And I know you love him too, but all is fair in love and war. I want a chance to fight for him."
Rosalind stepped forward, "You are being influenced by your emotions! Think of the human realm and your dreams –"
"I have made up my mind and that’s final!" Islinda lashed out at her and Rosalind stood frozen at the spot.
"I’m sorry. I know this isn’t what we talked about but I have this feeling inside that I’m making a mistake. Moreover, I’m not the kind to run away from my problems."
"I know. I understand." Rosalind said to her surprise.
Islinda’s expression light up, "You do?"
"Yes, which is why I’m sorry too."
Before Islinda could comprehend what she meant by that, Rosalind blew a substance in her face and her world went blank.
