Mated To The Cruel Prince
Chapter 322: Bad Boy

Chapter 322: Bad Boy

"No Fae is inherently evil, that is what the Seelie Queen failed to understand before she died in the battle field. The nature of evil exists and deep within everyone, we have the tools. However.... " Eli chuckled darkly, "That is not the case for the dark Faeries. My kind is born with it. That is why we bear the cursed mask," He pulled down the tunic’s large V-shaped neckline to show her the writhing runes even though there was enough of it on his neck.

Islinda stared at it, mouth parted in both awe and slight fear. If this was a cursed mask, would it have any effect on her considering she’s made contact with it a lot more times than she could remember?

"The cursed mask bears witness to the deal the Night Court High Lord made with the archdemon for power and as well, a quick identification for the other courts to murder us. Most surviving dark Faeries are in hiding and are smart enough to hide their marks."

"Just like Maxi."

He concurred, "Exactly, just like Maxi."

Islinda looked down at the rune, pointing out, "You are the only one allowed to flaunt yours."

Eli snorted, "Only because I am the King’s son, others are put to death."

Islinda wet her lips asking, "So if you were to have a child, would he have the....?" She trailed off, her question obvious.

"It is passed down from generation to generation. The stronger the Fae, the numerous the marks, and the viler the soul." Eli answered, raising his hand and Islinda watched as silky wisps of darkness gathered in his palm.

"You don’t feel evil to me." Islinda confessed, "I am not saying that you haven’t done worse things in the past or that you’re not capable of destroying lives. But you’re still half dark Fae, which means there’s still a bit of goodness in you. And then there’s Maxi, cursed or not, dark Faeries with the will might be able to combat the urge to do bad. Your ancestors were already evil before they asked for the power, it only heightened what was there. I think compassion, love and positivity might be able to change a dark Fae. We just need to give them a chance. "

"We?" Eli arched a dark brow at her, the wisps of darkness in his hand growing thicker.

"I mean the other courts. They could give the good dark Faerie a chance, consider it a test or trial or something and if it works, could increase the number of dark Faeries participating and who knows, they could rehabilitate a lot of dark Faeries. This way the war would end and the other dark Faeries who refuse to change can be.... "Islinda swallowed at the thought of the word," Punished. " She used the lighter version of "killed" instead.

"Islinda..." Eli called her name gravelly, making her tense, "Have you ever heard this saying? You can not save someone that doesn’t want to be saved."

She opened her mouth to speak, but he beat her to it, "Is that your plan? Do you intend to save me?"

Islinda narrowed her gaze at him, asking, "Do you want to be saved?"

"What if I say yes?" He answered while holding her gaze and it made her slightly fidget on his lap under the intensity.

For a moment, Islinda had no words to say, the daring look in Eli’s eyes only making her nervous. "Well," Islinda managed to find the courage, her head lifted high, "You would have to get Aldric to agree to that and then we can start a crash course on how to be good."

Eli’s lips tilted up in a smile, "Smart woman, always leaving the harder part of the job for me."

"What’s your power though?" Islinda was curious about it, "I already know that you can get into my head, Aldric already proved that plenty of times," She said with a slight bitterness in her tone, recalling the way that sadistic bastard pulled down her walls and controled her.

"You curious thing," Eli pinched her cheek, "Fine I will tell you. Manipulation. Just like many dark Faeries, I can influence other’s thoughts which is why my father the king has learned the skill of mentally blocking me out. To add to it, he has Fae from the dusk Fae who can block me out as well. They wouldn’t want a situation where the king wakes up one day and makes me the crown prince," He laughed dryly.

"Oh," Islinda nodded, only to glance up at him sharply, "Can you read my thoughts though?" Islinda hoped to the gods that was not the case.

"No, princess." He sighed with disappointment, "That would have been one amazing ability as I would love to know how your mind ticks."

Goosebumps aside, Islinda asked the next question, "What of shapeshifting?

Illusions? Curses and Hexes? Necromancy? Fae Glamour? Any other ability you possess?" She listed down the ability he told her earlier that dark Faeries were capable of.

"None of the above." He said.

Islinda tilted her head unsure, "Then why is everyone so afraid of you? I mean it’s a frightening thing not being in control of your body, but I think the other abilities are much scarier and you are less dangerous. You shouldn’t even be the dark Fae prince,"

When Islinda saw the way Eli’s countenance changed, she quickly added, "I don’t mean that as an insult. I’m trying to say all the Fae I have met so far are so dramatic and make it seem like you’re so dangerous when there might actually be a more dangerous dark Faerie in hiding. I think you’re more of a bad boy than a villain, it’s actually cute." She blushed, regretting saying that in the end.

Eli was taken aback by her words, but he regained control of his emotions and lit up with that menacing smile as he said," What makes you think I don’t have a rare, dangerous ability, princess?"

Her eyes rounded, "You do?" Islinda’s curiosity was piqued.
