Mated To The Cruel Prince
Chapter 277: Bothered Her

Chapter 277: Bothered Her

Islinda was warm and safe, cocooned in Aldric’s thick arms like a baby. She has not slept this comfortably and peacefully in a while now and wished to never wake up. Unconsciously, her arm slipped across his back and then, she ran her hand over his perfect body, awed at the smooth skin stretched over solid muscle.

It felt so nice, Islinda relished the feeling as she kept on caressing the muscles of his back. It wasn’t until a deep masculine groan sounded close to her ear that her action suddenly halted and her hand was held midway awkwardly.

Her eyes popped open and Islinda nearly screamed when the first thing she saw was a yummylicious body. Her face was buried into Aldric’s chest, it was a miracle she had not suffocated in her sleep. However, Aldric’s tantalizing smell wafted into her nose causing butterflies to erupt in her stomach and her brows furrowed in confusion.

Does Aldric wear perfume or something? It seemed so else how could it be this sharp and her olfactory sense seemed to like it so much. Perhaps, she would ask him for the perfume and solve this latest obsession with his smell. It was beginning to get weird.

Islinda inched away from Aldric, realizing his strong arms were wrapped around her waist. She peered up at him and to her relief, the dark Fae prince was still asleep. Aldric’s features were softened and he looked innocent while asleep as if he couldn’t hurt a fly. Except she knew better.

Waking Aldric was detrimental because she had no idea how to face him, not after what they did at night. It was embarrassing. She was so easy to seduce last night and didn’t want a repeat of it. Islinda wanted her head back in the game. Her goal today was to somehow familiarize herself in the kitchen and find a way to drug Aldric’s meal.

Hence she cleared her mind and then carefully – very, very, carefully – lifted Aldric’s arm off her waist and crept away from his embrace, holding her breath all the while. As soon as she managed to climb out of the bed, Islinda threw her hands up in silent jubilation. Nonetheless, it was still too early to celebrate as she had to leave the room first.

She went on her tiptoe and had only covered half of the room when his lazy voice echoed, "Going somewhere, princess?"

Islinda stiffened at once.

He caught her.

It hit her that Aldric must have been awake all this time and merely pretended to be asleep to see what she was up to.

Aldric cleared his throat loudly, "Now that I think about it, this is wrong. Usually, it is the male leaving the maiden’s bed after a passionate night and not the other way around."

Instantly, Islinda went red in the face. Why was the bastard insinuating such nonsense? They had merely kissed and.... the flush crept up her throat at the reminder of yesterday’s activity.

As if that was not enough, Aldric added, "Don’t tell me, princess, are you trying to escape taking responsibility for me?"

"What?!" Islinda shouted, spinning around only to be stunned into silence when she caught sight of Aldric.

The dark Fae was lounging on the bed and the sun’s ray through the window – who opened the window – fell on his body, giving his skin a radiant glow. He was unshaven and his hair was sexily tousled from sleep - or her running her hands through it while they made up last night.

The gods help her, Islinda pressed her thighs together, suppressing the tingle that went straight to her core. Aldric did this on purpose. She could tell from the cunning smile on his face and the way he touched his lip with his tongue. Those enigmatic blue eyes held the intelligence of a being that existed before her birth.

However, it didn’t mean that Islinda was unaffected by his sexual appeal, no, she was struggling with her control right now. Aldric’s alter ego has proven to be lethal and he was hell-bent on pulling down her defenses.

She managed to compose herself, "Just so you know, I was not trying to run away. I wanted to get the both of us breakfast." Islinda lied easily.

"Really?" Aldric voiced with a knowing smile.

"Yes." She stood her ground, choosing to remain shameless even if he called her out on her lie.

"Fine." He said to her surprise.

"Fine?"

Aldric shrugged, "What more were you expecting to hear, princess or is there something you are not telling me?"

"Nothing like that!" She answered hastily, proof of her guilty conscience.

"Good." Aldric sat up and leaned against the headboard, his biceps flexing as he crossed his arms, "Just get me something good to eat. I’m suddenly ravenous." He said with a gleam in his eyes that made Islinda shudder.

"No problem," Islinda appeared to be relaxed even though her insides were a mess. By the gods, she was wet between her legs.

Her eyes strayed to Aldric’s bare chest, "Are you going to remain this way though?" She questioned him.

"Why?" Aldric raised a brow, "Do you have a problem with my appearance? Or...." His lips curled, "Do I bother you that much?"

"Nothing of that nature!" Islinda scoffed, even though her breathing was labored. His bareness greatly bothered her. Wound tightly in equal measures with frustration, anger, anticipation, and arousal, she strode out of the room.

Islinda let out a deep breath as soon as she shut the door and was in the safety of the hallway. She leaned her head back against the door with her eyes closed. What was going on with her?

Aldric was supposed to be the one flustered, not her. How was she supposed to seduce him - without having sex - when her body responded to every of his touch and she was close to jumping him?

Islinda rubbed her palms down her face, hardening her resolve. Going to the kitchen was not just to get breakfast, but to see Rosalind. She had something to add to the plan.
