Mated To The Cruel Prince
Chapter 258: Calling Their Master

Chapter 258: Calling Their Master

"Aurelia, wait!" Islinda followed after the headstaff. Rosalind did not return after she left but Aurelia stayed behind to ensure the other Fae cleaned up properly before making her departure.

"Do you need anything else, my lady?" Aurelia inquired politely, her hands clasped behind her.

"It was my decision to have breakfast in bed and not Rosalind’s fault," Islinda chuckled nervously, scratching the back of her head, "But it turned out to be a horrible idea after all."

"Oh. I see. You’re here to plead on Rosalind’s behalf," Aurelia nodded in understanding.

Islinda stepped closer, pleading, "I’m just saying not to punish her, she did nothing wrong but try to help me. If you want, I’ll continue to eat in the dining hall," She has gotten the dinner knife after all.

"I’m in charge of this household and usually, she is to be punished for making such decisions without my consent, however, If you say so then, my lady. I’ll spare her just this once." Aurelia agreed and happiness filled her chest.

"Thank you, Aurelia," Islinda excitedly pulled her into a hug before stepping back realizing how tense the Fae was. Perhaps, not all Fae loved hugs.

"I’ll go back to my room now," Islinda gestured to her door and turned to leave when Aurelia said all of a sudden,

"I wouldn’t advise you to trust Rosalind."

Islinda halted, the excitement dying from her face as she slowly turned back to her, "Excuse me?"

"Our kind argue not to feel human emotions, but the same passion runs through our veins and is rather amplified in our case."

"I still don’t understand -"

"You have something Rosalind wants, the prince’s attention." She revealed.

Islinda swallowed, were they about to have this conversation in the middle of the hallway?

She said nervously, "I know Aldric and Rosalind are lovers. However, I don’t see how -"

"If I were you I’d be wary of her. After all, your life span is comparable to a candlelight. Just a single blow and puff, it’s all gone."

Islinda did not know which one was worse, the fact the Aurelia reduced her fun-filled life to a candlelight, or she imagined her life ending the same moment the light was put out. The vision was slightly disturbing.

"Listen, Aurelia, I appreciate your concern but I’ll look out for myself," Islinda told her with a tight smile. She was a bit mad at Aurelia for her truthful yet blunt words. It took her a long time to see it, but amid the Fae’s kindness, Aurelia looked down on her too even though she claimed to be looking out for her. Just because she was a human doesn’t mean she’s a fragile doll.

Islinda was not ignorant of Rosalind’s jealousy, but the both of them had come to an argument and the Fae wouldn’t lay a hand on her because she was leaving. Once away from Aldric, Rosalind can have the damned prince all to herself.

Aurelia curtsied, "Quite an honor that you entertained this lowly one’s suggestion. Do have a lovely day, my lady."

Islinda watched as Aurelia bound down the hallway and was out of sight before she returned to her room. Once inside, Islinda locked the door and rushed to her bed where she pulled out the knife from beneath her pillow.

Both anticipation and dread filled Islinda as she stared at the wicked-looking knife in her hand, the blade shining under the sunlight. So enraptured by the metallic beauty, Islinda carefully traced the edge only to wince as the blade nicked her.

She felt the sharp sting and lifted her thumb to her mouth, sucking the small stream of blood. As she sucked her finger, Islinda couldn’t help but wonder what was so appetizing about her blood that drove Aldric crazy. Recalling the way he moaned and took her blood in the past brought a hot blush to her cheeks and she shut the thought at once.

Flushed and bothered, Islinda began to fan at her face with her palms. No, this won’t do. It was time to implement her plan before Aldric seduces her the more with his good devilish charms. Look at her already having nasty thoughts about him and his weird blood fetish.

At once, Islinda rummaged through her wardrobe and found a napkin which she wrapped around the knife. Then slipped it into her supportingband, careful not to move carelessly and stab herself. That would be a bad move. Also, this way, even if she stumbled upon a Fae, they wouldn’t suspect a thing or predict what she was up to.

She left.

Just as she expected, Islinda ran into a few Fae on the way but she acted natural with a smiling face and went about her journey. Her destination was the garden, that was where Aldric’s Ravens aka his spies resided. Islinda was really waging everything in this plan and if she died. Well, that was the end.

Islinda emerged into the garden, the sweet-smelling blooms nearly seducing her into giving up her risky plan but her mind was made up. The Ravens were perched on different branches of a large tree in the garden. The large blank birds with their distinctive glossy black plumage stared back at her with striking eyes as if finally noticing her. No wonder, Aldric adopted them as pets, they appeared incredibly intelligent.

She pulled out the knife and let the napkin fall to the ground and raised it high, drawing the bird’s attention as she yelled, "I know you can see me, Aldric!"

Islinda looked across the garden to confirm she was all alone before she continued, "I know that you are hiding from me, but not anymore. You can’t leave me here, all bored and slowly losing my mind. If you can’t stand to stare at my face anymore, then I’d easily solve that problem for you."

She lifted the knife to her throat, "At the count of three, I’m going to take my life. I’ll finish the work you couldn’t bring yourself to do. One..." Islinda swallowed, pressing the knife to her throat and wincing at how easily it cut her, leaving a thin trail of blood. At least, Aldric would take her seriously.

"You are the only one that can stop this. Come out wherever you are," She sucked in a sharp breath, counting, "Two...."

At this point, Islinda’s heart began to pound like the grooves of horses in her chest. Was she really doing this? But then, Aldric liked pushing her to the edge and would not appear unless she was dead serious. So she really was going to kill herself?

Damn.

How unlucky she was.

At least, Rosalind would be satisfied with either result. She would not be a hindrance anymore.

A tear slipped down Islinda’s cheek and the Ravens became agitated, croaking loudly as if sensing her determination to end it all. Are they calling on their master to stop her? The sound was both eerie and beautiful.

Islinda shut her eyes and was about to slit her throat when someone abruptly snatched the knife from her.

A small smile crossed her lips, she knew he would come.

She opened her eyes to stare into....
