Mated To The Cruel Prince -
Chapter 238: Kill His True Mate
Chapter 238: Kill His True Mate
With his face distorted with rage, Aldric started towards the table where he cleared all the laboratory glassware with one sweep of his hand, relishing the shattering sound that echoed across the room. But even that was not enough to quell the shimmering fury inside of him hence Aldric went on a rampage, destroying every equipment in the lab until none was left standing.
Aldric stood over the mess, his chest heaving as he sucked in breaths, his eyes swirling with darkness and his hands balled into a fist. He should have killed her! He was close to killing her! Why couldn’t he kill her? She knows his secret now! Islinda has met his alter ego. And with this secret, she could ruin his life! Islinda could destroy everything that he has worked hard for. All she has to do is open her mouth and tell Valerie everything, and is all over for him.
Why hadn’t he seen this coming? He orchestrated everything perfectly and while Aldric understood things don’t often go as planned, life was unpredictable after all, yet this "sabotage" wasn’t meant to occur. Islinda was not supposed to know about "him".
He has lived with his split personality for so long that it was hard for outsiders to spot the personality differences. Aldric was adept at controlling and subduing "him". Sure, he lost his mind a few times but nothing he did was surprising to the Faeries, he was a dark Fae after all. The worst was always expected of him. But something drew "him" out this time and it was all Islinda’s doing.
Sex was an intense, interesting, and enjoyable experience and he often did it with Rosalind, but it was not enough to draw his alter ego to the surface. The bastard has always remained dormant until now. The only person he ever appeared for was Tatiana, not that she noticed, and she ended up being a mistake. One, he wasn’t keen on repeating.
His damn alter ego, though part of himself, was what Aldric could never become. Soft, patient, intelligent, protective, trustworthy, compassionate, and loyal. His alter ego was his polar opposite and those traits would be the death of him. It was humane and he can’t be weak if he intends to take the throne of Astaria!
Thanks to his beloved mother’s curse, he has to contend with his own self. At war with his own mind. Quite hilarious, don’t you think? What caused the switch today though? What if someone else notices he isn’t indeed right in the head?
For how long would he be cautious of his own self? Aldric knew the more his ambitions for the throne grew, the further his mind split. For now, it was just one personality, what if more arises?
Would there come a day when he loses to his other personality and his consciousness is obliterated out of existence? For now, his alter ego was amiable, and hasn’t gone contrary to his plans - except for revealing himself to Islinda and putting him in a few awkward positions in the past - but what if a hostile one manifests? Would he have to protect himself from himself?
There were just so many things running through his mind, overwhelming Aldric that he grabbed his head and let out an anguished scream, darkness exploding out of him and filling the room with its intensity. It was a good thing no one was around else they would be wounded from the outburst. Now magic saturated the space and it was pitch black as his shadows diffused and engulfed the Fae lights.
Aldric sank to the floor and began to laugh. The laughter bounced off the walls of the dark room, increasing as hysteria edged in. Mother dearest must be so proud of her handwork whenever she was, her curse successfully trapped him. The only way to break his curse and regain his sanity was to find his mate.
His true mate.
It wasn’t enough that only three out of ten Fae’s can find their true mates in this lifetime, he happens to be cursed as a dark Fae. What God in his right mind would gift him a perfect female? There were no true mates for a monster like him with a splintered mind.
He had once thought he had one. A true mate. Tatiana. She came into his life and turned it upside down, in a kind of good way, as he had assumed. The connection was instantaneous. She was the only Fae who wouldn’t look down on him as the others did. She stood up to him and put him in his place when needed without fear.
She completely matched him in every aspect. Her motive was pure. Until it wasn’t. She was deceitful like the others. Everything they had was fake. It was never real, Aldric believed. Good thing he killed her before she found out his secret.
But now, Islinda knew it and to top it all, the foolish human was enamored with his nemesis, Valerie. He had to kill her by all means even if "he" had found an interest in her. He - Aldric - was the one who controlled him - alter ego- not the other way around!
But then, Aldric needed his mind complete if he intended to fulfill his vision. His other personality has never rebelled against him and he doesn’t know what it would be like if a war broke out between them. Worst, his mind might split further and form another consciousness that might turn out far worse. After all, his personality was quite colorful if you know what he means. In one word, the situation was a tricky one.
Fine, Islinda would live for now. He would watch her - from the shadows. It was clear that he could no longer get close to her, not when his other personality had set his mind on her. However, once he senses she’s about to let out his secret, he will kill her. After all, his being dead would not help his alter ego. Once he’s dead, he will be gone too.
It would not be long now and he would take the throne. Once he was king, he would find a way to lift the curse - since finding his true mate was out of the picture.
Moreover, having a mate was detrimental on his side. Once his true mate appears, Aldric will have a weakness that his enemies would not hesitate to use. In one word, if a true mate does appear, he might as well end her before feelings get entangled and emotions run deep.
He killed Tatiana and recovered from the pain. His true mate he hasn’t gotten to know shouldn’t be too hard.
They can’t find his weakness.
