When Faeries called him a mad prince, they had no idea how right they were. He was indeed mad. What mother would curse his child so the power inside of him would drive him crazy? Well, his mother dearest did. A mad king cannot rule Astaria.
Not to mention a mad dark Fae prince.
No one knew his secret. All they knew was that his mother cursed him never to take the throne, but not the details. If anyone had an idea of this, his dreams of being king would be shattered. No, he will be eliminated. They would want to erase the chances of that happening especially with him determined to make the impossible possible.
But now, she knows.
Islinda sank flat on the bed with ecstatic delight until Aldric rose and the hardened look in his eyes was all the indication she needed to know that playtime was over and trouble was brewing in the air.
She gulped, "Aldric?"
But the vicious look on his face made her stomach turn and her pulse increased, her heart jumping straight to her throat. Something was wrong, she could feel it. Aldric looked like he was about to throttle her.
And he sure did.
"Aldric!" Islinda shouted in disbelief when his hand clutched around her throat and he began to choke her.
"This was your plan all along, wasn’t it?!" He snarled in her face, "You drew him to the surface so you could know my secret! Now you plan to go tell your lover, Valerie, isn’t it?!" He yelled with fury.
"N–no!" Her eyes blurred from tears, "I would never...." Islinda said, trying to loosen his grip around her neck all to no avail.
"Liar!" He growled low, his eyes wild and predatory, "You females are all the same."
Islinda’s lips quivered, knowing this was the real Aldric she had not got to meet until now. The monster hidden beneath the perfect face Valerie warned her about. She always knew what he was capable of, and yet, she didn’t listen. Now, she had to bear the consequences all by herself.
Aldric’s face was impassive and devoid of all human sympathy. He was intent on ending her. His monstrous inhumanity was now out on the surface for her to see. But Islinda was not one to give up easily.
She fought as hard as she could, shoving and kicking and clawing. Islinda struggled for her life like a frantic animal staring death in the face, but it was still not enough. Aldric was a seasoned warrior and could not be disarmed easily.
Aldric pinned her to the bed and the more Islinda fought him the weaker she became. Black dots began to fill her vision and a sad thought crossed her mind. To think this was the way she died. Although Islinda knew deep down that Aldric was going to end her, it happened unexpectedly and felt like a total loss.
He intended to use her against Valerie and get the throne of Astaria, but none of it happened. At least, she was leaving this world after getting one of the best orgasms of her life. Yes, it was not a total loss, at least on her path. But it would have been nice to properly tell Valerie goodbye. As her life began to flash before her eyes, Islinda realized it wasn’t worth holding onto the grudges.
She forgave Valerie.
Including Aldric.
When she imagined Aldric ending her, Islinda believed he would relish her death like a sick bastard. He would have an expression of devilish superiority and joy as he watched the life leave her eyes.
But the face staring back at her did not have the twisted victory, but rather anguish and the ignorance of one starved of love. Aldric knew not what he was doing. Perhaps, later in life, he would meet someone who would love him for who he was. Or maybe not.
But then, this was it. Islinda’s eyes never left Aldric’s for once as the tears slipped from her face and rolled onto his hand.
Islinda closed her eyes in death.
Or tried to.
The breath rushed from Islinda’s lungs in a mighty whoosh as if she had died and someone kickstarted her heart. Her heart was beating so wildly she was finally forced to gasp audibly for air like a fish out of water. Her face was ashen with fear when Aldric’s dark eyes bored into hers with his hand resting on her chest and she screamed, scampering away till she was a safe distance from him on the bed.
She recalled everything as clear as day, he nearly strangled her to death. Why did he stop? He should have gone all the way and then she would be saved from this miserable existence.
"Don’t come any closer!" Islinda shouted, startled when he reached a hand towards her.
She took back her words, there was no forgiving this fool. Coughing, Islinda felt her throat, it was sore and she had no doubts there would be marks from where he gripped her.
"Islinda, I’m...." He called her name and though there was wariness in her eyes, Islinda anticipated an apology from him. It was the least thing he could do for hurting her.
Islinda silently urged him with her gaze to say the word. Just say it!
But Aldric’s mouth opened and closed uselessly and his hands fell to his side in resignation. Islinda’s gaze hardened, he made his choice. The frustration in his eyes was the last Islinda saw before she turned her face the other way; Islinda wanted him to leave.
There was a loud bang as the door slammed with Aldric’s violent departure. Islinda sighed as she was left alone with her fears, thoughts, and unanswered questions. This was even worse than the time Valerie abducted her for the soul swap, Aldric’s imprint was everywhere.
This was the same bed she laid on as he pleasured her to heaven, and the same bed, he nearly strangled and sent her to hell. Islinda felt her chest constrict, beginning to shiver as the adrenaline finally wore off.
Adric nearly killed her.
