Mated To The Cruel Prince -
Chapter 201: Face To Face
Chapter 201: Face To Face
When Aldric teleported, he should have arrived right in the middle of the room, however, thanks to the ward the witch set up, he was forcefully rerouted and ended up right outside her door.
His glacial eyes glowed with lethal fury and it was no wonder Derek who had been keeping guard at the door jumped to his feet, startled by the unexpected arrival. However, the Fae’s eyes went wide with both disbelief and fear when he realized it was no other than the infamous dark prince.
What were the odds of Prince Aldric appearing tonight? Nil. They had made sure to cover up every loophole and even had Issac swear an oath to them that he wouldn’t let out the secret. But none of that seemed to have worked out because the dark prince was standing right in front of him and the anger in his eyes was like coals that burned hot and Derek swallowed nervously.
Derek was left speechless for over a minute before he quickly caught himself and hardened his heart. The dark prince was here and so? He has fought with many other Fae’s, what could be so different about him? All he needed to do was buy Valerie enough time and they would figure out what to do in this situation. Although he was not the source of Aldric’s anger, nor did he deserve it, the outcome was expected. He bore the brunt of Aldric’s rage.
Just his luck!
Aldric did not exert any effort at all, he simply raised his hand and a wave of shadows crashed into Derek with ferocity, knocking him to the ground and he was out cold. The dark prince had an indifferent look as he stared at his unconscious figure. Something different coiled inside of Aldric, a sinister force and beast that he has kept on the leash for a while now. But it was out now and I wanted to play and may the gods help the ones who had called it out.
Aldric stared at the metal door in his way and the heavy steel hinges attached to it, he grinned devilishly. Do they think a mere door would stand in his way of getting what he wanted? Aldric’s lips suddenly pressed into a thin line as his face darkened.
He kicked the door viciously from the outside two times until the iron hinges gave way and the doors collapsed with a heavy thud. The noise attracted attention because two pairs of eyes turned towards him and went wide upon recognition. Although Aldric could not see Islinda, he knew she was here... or has the soul swap ended?
No.
He saw the witch panicking and talking to Valerie in a hurry who then proceeded to speak to the air. Oh, Islinda was still here, and from the looks of things, they were trying to convince her. Aldric took a step forward, walking on top of the fallen door only to be repelled and his brows lifted in surprise.
Of course, setting up barriers was second nature to witches, he should have known. Aldric lifted his hand and placed it on the force field which shone blue upon contact. He lifted his face and proceeded to watch the witch and Valerie and they seemed to be arguing.
Although he couldn’t hear a thing as a result of the spell, Aldric was smart enough to guess this was because of Islinda. If they hadn’t swapped her soul, then the Islinda he knew was probably being stubborn and they were desperate now to get it over with. Surprise, surprise. He thought the little human would be delighted to go with him.
After one last argument, the witch huffed and walked towards him while Valerie continued talking to space. Seems like they came to a decision after all. Aldric watched with interest as the witch came to stand in front of the barrier.
She opened her mouth to speak and Aldric tilted his head, reading her lips.
"You intend to harm me, so you would never be able to pass through this mountain ash," Dorcas said.
Aldric chuckled warmly yet it was full of malice that could make anyone’s blood run cold. "We would see about that, witchy."
His gaze turned cold the next seconds and before Dorcas could tell what he was up to, Aldric stepped back and lifted the heavy door. The witch claimed the barrier was to ward off malevolent creatures, she didn’t talk about it being able to restrict objects which was no wonder the door fell through it.
He grabbed the door and intentionally dragged it on the ground, disrupting the perfect line drawn at the doorstep with the mountain ash and the barrier went down at once.
"The gods, no...." The witch gasped in fear, taking a step back, shaken as a certain Fae’s smirk widened.
"Guess who’s in, witchy?" Aldric said, looking every bit deranged as he slowly stepped into the room, leaving the witch on tenterhooks and building tension in the room.
"No, don’t do it, Aldric!" Valerie shouted in a hurry but it was too late.
Aldric moved so quickly that even the witch couldn’t comprehend his move until she realized that the dark prince was now standing behind her and his claws were out, dripping blood. Dorcas’ eyes went wide at first with confusion, and fear before the pain finally kicked in.
"No..." Valerie cried out, his face distorted with helpless rage, his feet stuck to the ground, and was unable to help her.
The pain came so quickly that when she cried out for help, Dorcas was beginning to choke on her own blood. It dawned on her that Aldric slit her neck and blood gushed out in streams. She reached for Valerie for help but her feet gave out from beneath her and she collapsed to the ground.
The dark prince stood before her and muttered something she couldn’t hear but knew instinctively that it had to do with the human. His face was the last thing that she saw before she bled out on the ground.
"Quite brilliant of you, brother," Aldric finally turned to Valerie after the witch drew her last breath.
"Aldric," Valerie said his name with so much venom in his tone and glared at him viciously. Not that Aldric was affected by his attitude.
He asked with a tilt of his head in the direction of the unconscious half-breed, "Is she in there?"
Valerie didn’t need to guess who he was talking about, he answered through gritted teeth, "It didn’t work."
"Wow, what a disappointment," Aldric said with no remorse. He added, referring to the witch, "And a waste of resources at that."
Valerie took one step forward, "Isn’t that because of -!"
"Next time you want Islinda, brother," Aldric cut him off, his eyes hardened, "try coming at me face to face and stop sneaking around like a bastard."
