Mated To The Cruel Prince
Chapter 125: Protecting His Territory

Chapter 125: Protecting His Territory

"B-baby brother?" Islinda almost choked on her saliva, staring at Prince Andre with a foreboding expression. Was he asking for death or what? It was trouble enough not referring to Aldric with his princely title, and yet, his brother, half-brother, dared to call him a " baby" Islinda swallowed, this was bound not to end well

Just as she expected, Aldric’s face was gravely dark and it scared her. As if his grim mood was somehow tied to the weather, the intensity of the snowfall increased and the wind picked up at the same time.

Oh no, Islinda’s heart jumped to her throat as the wind began to rustle leaves on trees and made them sway from side to side. Her hair whipped around her face and she yelped as her skirt billowed out around her and she quickly straightened it with effort. Thankfully, nothing was exposed, but that had not been one of her finest moments.

But even as the branches bent under the force of the wind and the temperature dropped so significantly such that she had to rub her hands down her arms and shuddered from the cold, Aldric was not close to stopping.

Visibility became low as the wind blew snow around in a flurry. It also lifted dust, leaves, and broken branches, causing them to fly around in the air and she had to duck more than once to avoid getting hit in the face.

What’s with these Fae’s? They could have at least waited till she was in the safety of the castle before deciding to fight. Now, she was stuck in the middle of a snowstorm.

"Aldric!" Islinda screamed for him to stop. The sharp wind stung her skin and it pushed hard against her that she was beginning to lose her footing unlike the other Fae’s who stood unaffected in the middle of the snowstorm.

"I am going to die, Aldric!" She yelled again and at once, everything stopped as if someone pressed pause on it. Of course, this was the only tactic known to work on him. The notion of death.

Islinda was heaving, before glaring at the culprit responsible for the disaster, just as the snow began to fall light this time.

This is what happens when you give too much power to hormonal Fae men!

She wanted to give Aldric a piece of her mind, but after seeing what he was capable of, she thought better of it.

Although Aldric’s fierce look had eased, he still looked like he wanted to rip his brother’s head off. Thankfully, that anger was not directed at her.

And speaking of Andre, he told him teasingly, "That was not the best welcome, brother."

"What do you expect?" Theodore joined in, "As if the rude bastard possesses basic manners."

Oh no, they were at it again and she can’t stay here. Islinda still had a sense of self-preservation and if these stupid Faeries were planning on killing each other, she would not end up as causality. She was nothing but a fragile human and had no magic to protect herself.

However, Islinda found out that she could not make a move and that was when she realized she was shaking like a leaf in winter. It reminded her of that day her dead family had sent her away and she had gone to search for Valerie in the cold. Except this winter was induced by a moody dark prince.

The gods must be on her side because she hear a familiar voice cry out,

"Oh dear, my lady!"

Islinda stiffly turned to face Aurelia and she had a coat which she draped on her shoulder to her relief. Aurelia must have seen what went down and came for her, Islinda was so grateful for her.

"By the gods, you’re frozen," Aurelia fussed over her and she let her be, tired to the bones.

The female Fae tugged on the coat to cover her properly until her eyes crossed with Aldric’s and she jumped back, bowing her head to him.

"Your Highness."

Aldric did not answer Aurelia and Islinda watched his unwavering gaze boring into the Fae’s until it shifted to hers, and she shivered under the scrutiny. Islinda lowered her gaze but she saw annoyance and frustration in those glacial eyes.

"Take her away," It was one simple command infused with authority to which Aurelia answered at once,

"Of course, my prince."

Aurelia took her arm gently and began to lead her away like a child. Islinda did not even protest, she was just so tired to protest about the grievance she suffered at Aldric’s hands. The asshole prince did not even offer an apology for what he had done. She was almost hurt in that storm or could have even died. Well, death was becoming her daily friend anyway and she was getting used to it.

Islinda was so numb throughout and could not recall what happened afterward until she was soaking in a tub of hot water. She was detached from the world around her, hiding away in her mind instead where she was safer.

Aurelia bathed her like a child and when she was done, changed her into thicker clothes. She then brought her a steaming cup as she sat at the edge of her bed.

"Here, this is chamomile tea, it calms the nerves and you should feel better after a short rest." The Fae handed the cup to her and she accepted it, sipping the hot tea.

The smell was delightful and the tea must be magical because the instant the warm liquid went down her throat, she felt refreshed.

Aurelia said while she drank the tea," I should have known something was wrong when Issac returned looking like a confused dog. You must forgive the prince, he has lost so many things in his life that he hoards the few things he has. He dislikes feeling threatened in his territory and protects it."

"Yes, he sure protests it like a rabid dog." Islinda retorted, with Aurelia gasping at her sass. She finished the rest of the tea and handed the cup to her.

"I would love to have my rest now." Islinda climbed into bed, lifting and slipping into the cover.

Aurelia obviously had something to say but Islinda turned the other way, marking the end of their conversation.

As soon as the door closed behind her, she kicked out the cover in frustration. Why was Aurelia so defensive of Aldric? He was no good and why was she having mixed feelings about him?

She must have fallen asleep after minutes of turning and tossing in bed because Islinda woke up to Aldric hovering over her.
