Mated To The Cruel Prince -
Chapter 114: The Hypocrite
Chapter 114: The Hypocrite
Islinda was barely able to contain the fury coursing through her veins like the liquid fire of mountain lava. At that moment, she wished for nothing else but to hurt Aldric. She would hurt him so much that he would think twice before ruining someone’s reputation again.
But even amid her blind fury, common sense spoke to her as she recalled his words, "Who do you think would benefit mostly from my death and want the throne so much?"
The name was on her lips but Islinda refused to admit it because that would mean Valerie attempted to end her life. The trap he set up for Aldric would have taken her too if the dark prince had not saved her.
No, it was wrong. Valerie would not do that to her. This was all Aldric’s attempt to turn her against his brother whom she was still in love with. Aldric was a trickster. He was capable of many things and one of them was being a big manipulator. This was all lies.
She turned her fierce gaze on Aldric who had an indifferent look and it made her angrier.
He tilted his head, "Are you done?" He asked, coolly.
"Am I done?" Islinda stared at him dumbfounded. The tension in the room heightened and she fought back the angry tears that sting her eyes. How could someone be so heartless?
She shook her head in disappointment, "I thought you had a bit of good in you but it seems that I was the one delusional. Everyone was right in hating you, Aldric, and you don’t deserve my pity at all - Ahh!"
Islinda screamed when Aldric suddenly snatched her waist and tugged her forward so she now sat astride him, her face flushing red in embarrassment.
"What are you doing!" She screamed at him, terror and shock gripping her as she shoved hard at him, not that it was an effective move. If anything, Aldric pulled her closer till she was pressed flush against his chest and she was feeling that a lady should not mention beneath her.
Islinda swallowed, "A-Aldric...." Her voice was lower now, almost begging him now as she stared into his dark eyes.
Aldric scoffed, "Delusional? Pity? I believe indeed that you’re delusional."
Islinda was about to swat at him when he said those words and her hands halted mid-air
"What?"
"You watched Valerie fight me in the ballroom for no course and you think he’s not capable of much worse?" He mocked her.
"It was because you provoked him! You tricked and brought me here when he wanted me in the human realm where I was much safer! I think it’s time you woke up, Aldric!" Islinda shouted, tired of him always making himself the victim.
"I believe you are the one that needs to wake up!" He threw his head back and laughed sarcastically, his hands digging into her side, "Fae’s are monsters, do you think there was an exception to Valerie when I said that? Or do you think that there are good and bad monsters? We are all the same."
"If you think that way, I’m not surprised Valerie tried to kill you!" She snapped at him.
There was instant silence as the atmosphere crackled with tension. There was a stormy look on Aldric’s face while Islinda’s expression was as white as a sheet, realizing what she had said and catching herself at the last minute.
Aldric’s lips curled up, "What a hypocrite, you are, Islinda. You admitted it after all."
His words were a slap on her face and she was so mortified that when his smirk increased, Islinda wished she could burrow a hole in the ground and climb in, never to come out again.
Aldric was right, she was a hypocrite. She couldn’t see through Valerie’s shiny interiors because she loved him. Who wouldn’t want to defend the one they love? She had only known a part of Valerie when he was in the human realm with her, not his entire life in the Fae realm.
But even at that, Islinda couldn’t find it in her to apologize to Aldric. No, she would rather bite off her own tongue than do that. By the gods, it was so embarrassing. She wanted to bury her face with her palms but Aldric’s heated gaze froze her to the spot.
Instead, Islinda made up excuses. She still had to hear Valerie’s part of the story before making any other move. This was a one-sided story and it wouldn’t be surprising if Aldric incited him to action. She was at that party and saw how Aldric easily got under his skin. That could be it. Valerie wouldn’t just kill her. Islinda was satisfied with her decision.
"Why aren’t you saying anything?" Aldric was smug.
Islinda was so guilt-ridden that she couldn’t face him so she turned her face the other way. However, Aldric cupped her chin and turned her to him.
He gave her a long look as his fingers played across her chin, trailing down to her throat. Islinda suddenly found it hard to breathe as the shock of his warm fingers on her skin resonated for several more seconds.
The stormy look in his eyes became hungry and predatory, and it dawned on her the intimate position the both of them were in. Not to mention that Aurelia and the others were in the room. Who knows what they think of her now? And what in the Fae was she doing? How did she allow this to get this far?
At once, she placed her hands on his chest and managed to create space between them. She had no idea what Aldric was up to now and It was beginning to scare her, a little.
Perhaps her last push was all Aldric needed because his expression flickered and his cold mask fell into place as usual. Before Islinda could tell what he was up to, she was falling helplessly and found herself on the ground in the end. Aldric dumped her on the floor.
"You!" Islinda glared at him, aggrieved.
Aldric got up to his feet now and walked over to her.
Crouching down, he said, "You don’t need me to apologize, right?"
Islinda bite down on her lips, vengeful
bastard!
This was his payback.
