Chapter 839: Chapter 558: Uncertain Future (Three Updates)
No need for any extra word, a look was all it took for the other person to know your intention and how you wanted them to act.
Such understanding was not achieved overnight; of course, it also depended on the person.
The corners of his mouth curved slightly, revealing a hint of mischief. Next moment, almost simultaneously, two fighter jets jolted violently, waking everyone who had been sleeping soundly. Some even accidentally bit their own tongues—a moment of instant sobriety.
Zhou Yicen instinctively soothed Yue Qiao and held her tightly to prevent her from falling. Those who had regained their composure quickly steadied themselves, while those who had tumbled were completely dumbfounded and had not fully woken up yet. Those who had snapped out of it quickly stood and returned to their original seats.
As for those who hadn’t woken up, they had probably been dazed by the fall.
"Awake yet?" Ma Liang’s voice rose among everyone’s ears, prompting them to instinctively look up, only to meet Black Shark’s chilling gaze.
Now that was truly free central air conditioning.
"Looks like you’ve had a good sleep." The voice remained as cold as ever.
The rest of the people instinctively got up and returned to their seats, realizing that the jolt had been deliberate by the person before them.
Was this a prank on them?
Some could not help but think this way, especially since from the start, Black Shark and his team had never shown them any courtesy, not even offering a single kind word.
It seemed their self-esteem was still somewhat intact; did they really think the men of Ying Sun Special Forces had nothing better to do than to waste training time on pranks?
"Are we there yet?" someone asked, looking outside reflexively, only to see specks of light, not even able to discern the ground below.
"We’ve arrived," responded Black Shark indifferently.
"Now, let me tell you about the first assessment." Standing firm, Black Shark spoke without any expression, "The forest below our fighter jet is where your first assessment will take place; the time now is 3:15 in the morning." He glanced briefly at his watch before continuing, "You have a total of forty-eight hours, until 3:15 in the afternoon the day after tomorrow, to make your way out of this deep forest using the clues we have left for you and reach our base set up at the exit. Those over there are your tools." Having said that, he stepped aside.
Following Black Shark’s gaze, everyone looked at the backpacks behind him.
"There are only two meals’ worth of dry food, a flashlight, a dagger, and a rescue flare in there. These are all the tools and food you’ll have for what comes next; if you can’t hold out, then fire the flare, and our team will come and bring you out. Of course, that also means you have automatically forfeited." As he said this, his eyes casually swept over the group.
"I assume you’ve all participated in wilderness combat training before, so I hope you won’t disappoint me." He paused before adding, "Remember, we wait for no one; if you don’t make it out within the specified time, sorry, you’re still out. Understood!" Time allowed no room for waste.
For a soldier, punctuality is fundamental.
"Understood!" At that moment, everyone’s spirits were revitalized as they stood up in unison.
"Now, move out."
At that command, the aircraft’s hatch opened that moment, and the cold breeze carrying a hint of seawater rushed in.
It looked like it was a forest by the sea.
The first to react was Yue Qiao, "Let’s go." With a swift motion, a line of people turned around, each grabbing a bag, pulling out the flashlights, biting them in their mouths, and they headed down without hesitation.
Of course, they made use of safety gear; after all, they didn’t have the guts like Mu Lin, and most importantly, it was still night, and they had no idea what lay beneath them; forests were among the most dangerous places.
Next, one by one, people descended along the ropes.
Standing at the hatch, Black Shark watched calmly as each figure vanished, his eyes revealing no hint of change.
