Chapter 837: Chapter 557: Provocation (2nd Update)
Standing there, Black Shark’s gaze was so icy that it lacked a hint of warmth as it swept over everyone. When it passed over Jing Youlan and a few others, it paused for a mere two seconds.
A glint flashed in the depths of his eyes before quickly shifting away.
Jing Youlan raised an eyebrow; Why did he get the feeling that things weren’t quite so straightforward?
It felt as if someone had their sights set on him, but when you looked at the three standing rigidly in military posture ahead, they frankly weren’t returning the gaze. Yet it still felt irritating.
It wasn’t just Jing Youlan who felt this way, Ji Shubai and his group all felt the same, as if they were fish on a chopping board, a truly uncomfortable sensation; especially since they were the fish.
It must be said, old ginger is hotter than fresh; even though they were leaders in their respective units, in the eyes of Ying Sun, sorry, they were nothing.
After all, they once stood out in their own fields, even as the strongest, but ever since joining Ying Sun and meeting Jing Chen; well... better left unsaid.
Xigua and Wu Ya exchanged looks, mysterious smiles curling on their lips; they seemed quite satisfied.
To tell the truth, among all these people, they found these few the most pleasing to the eye; after all, they were the ones their sister-in-law had taken a fancy to.
The judgment of Mu Lin was trusted among Ying Sun, but they still hoped these individuals would not make them question their sister-in-law’s judgement.
And then there was... truly unexpected, to find among these recruits three female soldiers; female soldiers brave enough to challenge Ying Sun, truly admirable.
Tsk tsk tsk... could it be the sister-in-law noticed they were all bachelors, so she arranged something pleasing to the eye for them?
Indeed, having a sister-in-law is great, unlike their Boss, who never once considered their happiness or their future bliss.
Mu Lin expressed that he hadn’t either.
That being said, Wu Ya and Xigua still insisted that although they hoped Ying Sun would break the legend of being a bachelor Special Forces unit (Mu Lin being ignored), they would still show no mercy in their selection; after all, their missions typically involved playing with life and death.
If one lacked that ability, they had no right to enter Ying Sun’s nest.
This was the most basic principle of Ying Sun’s selection process, applicable to everyone; life is but once.
"Very good." Looking at the vigour and appearance of each person before him, Black Shark nodded, "True elites of their respective units." This was meant as praise.
Hearing Black Shark’s words, some unconsciously lifted their heads, filled with pride.
However.
"But!" Regrettably, Black Shark’s next word was ’but’, "In our eyes, you amount to nothing." With that blunt declaration, the previous compliment no longer seemed like praise.
Black Shark’s words did not sit well with many.
"What, you don’t agree, want to come up here and see how you measure up?" The corners of his cold mouth lifted slightly, all eyes fixated, but alas, "You aren’t even qualified!" A snort and Black Shark’s voice was resonant, only adding to the unpleasant feeling.
"On what grounds are you dismissing us like this!" Finally, someone couldn’t hold back and challenged him.
Where were they lacking exactly?
Black Shark didn’t reply.
"On what grounds?" Standing tall, Wu Ya smirked, glancing at Xigua as if asking for instruction, "They actually ask us on what grounds?" The amusement on his face was tinged with provocation, carrying that utterly obnoxious smirk.
"Then you tell them, on what grounds." Xigua’s lips curled faintly, his eyes also carrying a trace of indifference, as if he saw the people below as inconsequential.
"Alright, let me tell you, on what grounds." His voice still casual, he continued, "Simply because, we are stronger than you."
"Really, don’t think just because you are leaders in your own units, the objects of admiration and goals in the hearts of your comrades! But, I suspect you haven’t even competed against each other yet." Wu Ya chuckled, "I guess, if you can’t even beat the competitors beside you, how do you plan to compare with us?"
Wu Ya’s words made everyone instinctively look towards the familiar yet unfamiliar faces beside them.
Jing Youlan and the group exchanged glances.
They agreed with what Wu Ya had said; they indeed lacked the qualifications to challenge them; of course, they also knew that these people were just intentionally provoking them, fueling their spirit of competition.
