Chapter 790: Chapter 530: Plucking Feathers vs. Being Swallowed (Second Update)_1
"Jue, do you know that Linlin, is our daughter, the flesh and blood of you and me. I’ve heard from Linlin that you really want her to call you father, is that correct?" His eyes are tender.
"Linlin once showed me the letter you wrote to her, the letter where you revealed the truth to her. In your heart, scoundrels like Tang Qian are not worthy of being Linlin’s father. Thus, she has already found out the truth. You are her real father." She didn’t betray him or do him wrong that year, she did not.
"Just now, you must have heard Linlin call you father, didn’t you? You must be very pleased." Definitely, very elated indeed.
But, "Why did you leave me so soon and didn’t even give me a chance to see you for the last time. Why didn’t you come back to me, why?"
Tears welled up in her eyes and uncontrollably fell, "Why?" She still had so many things left unsaid to him, so many questions remained unanswered. How could he leave her so soon, how could he!
Eventually, her silent sobbing turned into weeping, gradually growing into loud cries. A wholesale venting out of emotions.
"Auntie, hic...finally...hic...cried." As she hiccuped between her sobs, Gong Yu’s tears wouldn’t stop either.
Wuu wuu wuu...She was heartbroken, she pitied her little aunt. How could God be so cruel to her, it’s not fair! When clearly...clearly her little aunt is such a wonderful person. How could it be!
"Mmm." Hearing Gong Yu’s words, Mu Lin nodded and looked back at her, "But why do I feel like your crying is even sadder than mine?" Compared to Mu Lin, she felt more like the biological child of their parents.
Gong Yu looked at her, "I’m heartbroken, and I’m moved." She never knew that her little aunt loved her uncle that deeply.
Gong Muxue’s sobbing, hearing that made Gong Yu feel so saddened and deeply moved.
Without uttering a word, Mu Lin turned her gaze back to Gong Muxue. After a while, her calm and cold voice resounded again by Gong Yu’s ear, "Now that you’ve let it out, you’ll feel much better..." Otherwise, Gong Muxue may give up on life one day if she keeps suppressing her feelings like this, and might follow in her master’s footsteps.
Mu Lin realized that most of the time, she was more comfortable referring to him as master than father; Once a teacher, forever a father.
Gong Yu nodded, "Let’s go, we can head back now." The next second, she suddenly jumped off the tree before Gong Yu could even react.
Seeing Gong Muxue finally letting her emotions out, the last bit of worries in Mu Lin’s heart were also finally put to rest.
"Sis, wait for me." Seeing what lay underneath cautiously, Gong Yu jumped down after her.
Tsk, tsk, tsk. Luckily, she had also learned some skills. Otherwise, she really wouldn’t dare jump down.
When Mu Lin and Gong Yu got back to the cabin, Qiaozi and Muxue had already returned with several rabbits and pheasants laid out before the entrance.
Gong Yu ran up, grabbing a rabbit by its ears with one hand, "Sis, now I finally understand why you didn’t let me buy meat." Because...it wasn’t necessary at all.
Mu Lin raised her eyebrows but didn’t respond.
Looking at Qiaozi, she heard Gong Yu continued, "Qiaozi, next time, can you catch a live one for me?" Rabbits...are so cute.
Qiaozi cawed, and Gong Yu turned to Mu Lin.
Mu Lin replied, "It says okay, it will catch one for you later, but only after dinner." She thought to herself, how should she bring it back home once it is caught.
"That’s great." Gong Yu embraced Qiaozi without hesitation, "I’ll cook dinner for you guys later." Just cooking...that was her expertise in the past too.
However, was this kind of hug really all about expressing gratitude, or was it an excuse to flirt with Qiaozi?
The dinner was delivered by Mu Lin to Gong Muxue. She knew that Gong Muxue definitely wanted to eat with their father. This was their first family meal together in twenty-one years.
As for Gong Yu, she was quite considerate for not interrupting, and she stayed at home and ate with Qiaozi and the others.
Actually, she understood everything, so she wouldn’t intervene.
That evening, after staying by the grave for a long time, Mu Lin brought Gong Muxue back home when the sky had completely turned dark.
The next day when Mu Lin and Gong Yu were preparing to leave, Gong Muxue finally showed a mild smile on her face again. Looking at the two of them, "Linlin, Yuyu, you don’t have to worry about me. I’m fine now." Actually, she just wanted to spend more time with him in this place, after all, they hadn’t seen each other for far too long.
"Hmm." Mu Lin nodded, she understood her, "If you need anything, you can ask Qiaozi and the others, they can understand us; also, if you go to father’s grave, remember to take Qiaozi with you. Remember this, it is critical, as this forest is dangerous."
"Don’t worry." Gong Muxue laughed, she had already seen the capabilities of those two pets; "I will take good care of myself. I’ll be back before Linlin’s wedding." Having said that, she hugged them both, "You two must take care too." Compared to the jungle, life in the real world posed much more dangers. Isn’t everything that happened to her evidence of this?
"Rest assured, Aunt. I’ll take good care of my sister." Gong Yu pledged.
Mu Lin looked at Qiaozi and Muxue, "Both of you need to stop fighting. Remember, you must protect my mother well. Especially Qiaozi, if you don’t protect her properly, I’ll pluck out all your fur. Muxue, if you keep fighting with Qiaozi and get swallowed again next time, I won’t save you." This could be seen as a warning or a threat.
After fighting for so many years and never getting tired, Mu Lin really couldn’t understand these two.
At his words, their heads nodded like paddle drums almost instantly.
Gong Yu, holding a rabbit, laughed merrily. Qiaozi had caught it for her last night, a gift from Qiaozi. She had to take it back with her.
"We’re leaving," Mu Lin hugged Gong Muxue again. "Mom, remember to take good care of yourself." She didn’t want her to worry. After all, she had only just found her own family.
"Don’t worry," Gong Muxue gently tapped Mu Lin’s back.
The moment their fading silhouettes disappeared, Gong Muxue turned back and entered the house, followed closely by Qiaozi and Yinying.
Qiaozi: It doesn’t want its fur plucked.
Yinying: It doesn’t want to be swallowed.
...
Slightly after Mu Lin left the Black Forest, she received a call from Jing Chen, which ended after a brief conversation.
Being pregnant and unable to be by Mu Lin’s side, Jing Chen was understandably worried.
Next up, she would head to Ming City.
It didn’t feel like long since she had left Ming City. Mu Lin couldn’t have imagined that in only a few months, she had almost finished up all of her business; her master’s vengeance, her origins, and her own past.
This time in Ming City, she should pay a visit to the Poison Doctor Pavilion, and luckily, she brought some medical books for them; although she couldn’t help much, she should at least try as their boss.
The people at the Poison Doctor Pavilion would probably be overjoyed; the business of the current Poison Doctor Pavilion is tremendously thriving.
Once in Ming City, the first place Mu Lin went to was the police station, to get the formalities over with.
When Ren Laifeng saw Mu Lin, the corners of his eyes were almost twitching with laughter, "Sister-in-law, you’ve become even more beautiful after just a month apart. How are the other women supposed to live?" His joke was a cliche one; however, Gong Yu thought it was the truth. Although, Ren Laifeng’s name almost made her burst into laughter.
Secretly.
"Looks like you’ve been pretty idle lately." Mu Lin gazed at him with a beaming smile. "Perfect, I’ve brought you a major job." He would definitely like it.
"What job?" It seemed that Ren Laifeng was unaware, Jing Chen probably hadn’t called him yet.
"Yuyu, give him the files and your phone." Mu Lin ordered.
"Alright." Gong Yu took off her backpack, retrieved the files, and handed them to him. As for her rabbit, it was already sent back for a hefty fee, and it would be delivered straight to the Jing’s home. She was curious about the old man’s expression when he saw it.
He should be fine. After all, he had already raised Haidong Qing and Black Snake. What’s one rabbit?
It was only slightly larger than ordinary rabbits, nothing more.
She just hoped that the kitchen wouldn’t mistake it for food.
Ren Laifeng took the files from Gong Yu’s hand.
"You can look at it yourself." Mu Lin said; he’d be clearer reading it himself. Plus, this game had spread across the country, and Ming City was likely not spared.
Ren Laifeng nodded, lowered his head and was carefully reading the files, his face gradually becoming more serious; especially the chat content in the phone, some of it was even from these past few days.
"Sister-in-law, where did you get this confidential information?" Ren Laifeng asked, clearly familiar with the notorious game named ’12:30 AM’.
"I recently did a private errand, and just so happened to deal with a man who was the mastermind behind this game, he’s also the group owner of the game chat in your phone." Mu Lin didn’t hide anything, after all, there was no need.
"And that man?" Ren Laifeng instinctively asked.
The corners of her mouth raised slightly, "Like I said, he’s been dealt with." The grin appeared chilling to Ren Laifeng.
It made his blood runs cold.
