Chapter 786: Chapter 527: Made a Friend (First Update)_1
"Grandpa Chen, she’s one of the girls who gave you first aid on the road and then sent you to our hospital yesterday." The doctor next to him said with a smile towards the elder.
"Really!" The elder wanted to sit up upon hearing, "Young lady, thank you so much. If you hadn’t saved me, this old man would’ve been a goner. I didn’t expect that you’d even come to see me." The elder was genuinely touched.
Gong Yu shook her head, "It’s okay, it’s what I should do." The Gong family, no matter who confronted the situation at that time, all would have lent a hand to help.
The doctor beside her turned to Gong Yu, "Are you a doctor as well?" She had watched the video too. Gong Yu’s methods were more adept than those of a typical first aid giver, and she was with Mu Lin, so she guessed...
"Not really," Gong Yu smiled and shook her head, "Actually, I’m just a freshman in college." In a way, she had skipped a grade, "However, many people in our family are doctors, including my sister. So, I’ve picked up a bit." From a young age, her grandpa had encouraged her to learn, but she had trouble picking it up.
Despite saying this, Gong Yu was confident, because the Chinese medicine techniques she knew, inherited from the Gong family, were not generally available to outsiders.
Even a servant in the Gong family would know some simple medical techniques.
"Your sister?" The doctor blurted out unconsciously, and her gaze at Gong Yu became much brighter.
Gong Yu didn’t seem to notice, she simply nodded, "Yes, she was the one who conducted the emergency treatment for Grandpa Chen." That’s what she had heard them call him. "Truthfully, if my sister hadn’t been there, my medical skill could not have saved a patient who was past the critical period." She didn’t have that much confidence in herself.
Or she should say, she knew the depth of her own abilities.
"So you’re Master’s sister." The doctor suddenly broke into a radiant smile, and the corners of her mouth curled up brightly.
She hadn’t seen her master for quite a while. Usually, she heard about her from the director or from Professor Mei. She was surprised to have the chance to meet her sister.
Though Mu Lin never formally accepted her as a disciple, to Xiang Manni, Mu Lin was her master and mentor. Without Mu Lin, she would probably still just be a regular nurse.
But now, her formal master is Professor Mei, who, because of his relationship with Mu Lin, has been very good to her.
"Master?" Gong Yu looked at Xiang Manni with surprise on realizing what she meant, "You mean you’re my sister’s disciple? But I’ve never heard my sister mentioning she had taken on a disciple!" And, if she were her sister’s disciple, why hadn’t her sister sought her out when she came here yesterday?
Gong Yu didn’t really believe her.
Looking at Gong Yu’s skeptical gaze, Xiang Manni just smiled, "Actually, Master never officially took me on, but she taught me most of what I know about medicine."
Xiang Manni explained her relationship with Mu Lin and the circumstances to Gong Yu. Actually, she was just more concerned about this elder because she had watched the video. Otherwise, as a Chinese medicine doctor, she wouldn’t appear in a Western medicine ward.
Perhaps she should say she had been hoping, hoping that Mu Lin might come back and see, because it had been a long time since she’d seen her.
Sadly it looked like her master wouldn’t come anymore, since Gong Yu had already come.
"So that’s how it was." Gong Yu said, slightly surprised," My sister used to work here." No wonder she suggested bringing him here directly.
"That’s a pity." Gong Yu looked at Xiang Manni," Manni, you just missed her. She dropped me off earlier. It’s a pity we didn’t know each other, otherwise, I would have let you know in advance."
"Oh I see." Xiang Manni sounded a bit disappointed, but quickly concealed it," Not to worry, there will be another chance." She just didn’t know when that would be.
"Manni, could you show me where my sister used to work?" Gong Yu suddenly asked; she really wanted to see it.
No one could probably compare to the admiration and affection Gong Yu held for Mu Lin.
"Of course, No problem." After Mu Lin left, her old consulting room was reassigned to Xiang Manni by Professor Mei.
After expressing their regards, they bid goodbye to the elder and went off towards the Chinese medicine department.
On the way, the two young ladies, who were not very far apart in age, struck up a friendly chat, especially since they both adored the same person.
"Oh Manni, you don’t know yet?" Gong Yu suddenly said turning to her.
Xiang Manni: "What don’t I know?" Her eyes were filled with curious expectancy.
"My sister has already married, she’s planning to have the official wedding ceremony after the New Year. Also, she’s pregnant and expecting a baby." Her lovely niece or nephew would be coming soon.
Gong Yu was thinking, maybe she should transfer to study in B City so she could stay with Mu Lin.
"Married!" Xiang Manni was surprised. She previously heard some rumors about the pregnancy, and she had asked her master about it. She knew who Mu Lin’s other half was, but this was the first time she heard about the marriage.
It happened so quickly.
But thinking about it, it made sense, after all, they already have a child.
It appears her master is truly happy.
"I really want to visit my master when there’s an opportunity." But she had heard that Mu Lin was too busy, and often not in B City, it’s even hard for the Director and old Mei to see her now.
"If you want to go, you can call me anytime, I’ll take you." Otherwise, it’s not easy to get into the Jing family; Gong Yu confidently offered, then suddenly remembered something, "But not these few days."
"Why?"
"We have something to take care of for these few days, it’s likely only going to take a few days, we will be back soon. When that happens, I will tell my sister, and then call you." Gong Yu thought and said.
"Alright, I’ll be in your care then, Yuyu." Xiang Manni chuckled, cheerfully considering what gift to buy for the baby.
For the rest of the time, Gong Yu stayed in Xiang Manni’s clinic for a while, even had lunch there. She went home in the afternoon, promising to go shopping together when she returned.
If possible, she could even take Mu Lin along.
When Gong Yu got home, Mu Lin was playing chess with the old man in the living room. They just finished a game; it was a draw.
The old man was smiling happily.
He had no choice, he had already lost two games, drawing one game was not easy at all.
"Sister." Not far away, Gong Yu happily ’flew’ over to Mu Lin like a bird and sat down next to her.
"Yuyu is back." The old man watched her with a smile, feeling that the home felt much brighter with Gong Yu around. Except for his grandson who was still in the military camp, the rest of the Jing family were rather composed. There were not many lively characters like her.
He really wished Gong Yu could stay in the Jing family a little longer.
"Grandpa." Gong Yu looked at the old man and affectionately called out, it had been just one night and Mr. Jing had already become grandpa to her.
Gong Yu stated that compared to her own grandpa, old man Jing is truly much more affectionate.
She probably hadn’t witnessed fierce Mr. Jing, hence thought this way. Mr. Jing’s grandson, young Mr. Jing, could testify to his sternness.
"Sister, I have a question for you." After greeting, Gong Yu continued to stick to Mu Lin.
Mu Lin: "What’s up?" What sudden matter could there be?
"Do you have a disciple named Xiang Manni at the Military Hospital?"
"Manni?" Mu Lin looked at her, "You met her?" However, a disciple, she didn’t remember having one herself.
"I met her. I saw her when I went to visit that old man, she happened to be there." Gong Yu nodded, "I really like her." She is a very straightforward girl, and they got along well.
"Hmm." Mu Lin nodded, "Manni is a nice girl." She liked her a lot back then too, but it’s been a long time since they last met.
That was a compliment in a way; but throughout, Mu Lin neither denied nor confirmed Xiang Manni’s claims.
Actually, letting things take their own course was fine too.
If she really liked it, she didn’t mind; after all, she didn’t feel at a disadvantage; she trusted Xiang Manni’s character.
In fact, except for Gong Yu, Xiang Manni never told anyone that she was Mu Lin’s disciple. Because she never thought of capitalizing on Mu Lin’s fame or...embarrassing her; with her current medical skills, it’s not enough; therefore, she never mentioned who her master was.
The next day, Mu Lin and the others set off for the Black Forest.
But this time, Jing Chen was not with them.
