Chapter 616: Chapter 490 - Treasures (Third Update)_2
On hearing Mu Lin’s explanation, Tang Qishan and Tang Jun exchanged a glance.
Although they couldn’t understand what Mu Lin was saying, they could tell it wasn’t something good. Nonetheless, given Mu Lin’s excited demeanor... for some reason, they were vaguely confused.
If Mu Lin knew their thoughts, she would be utterly exasperated. It was, after all, a good thing in its own right, unattainable even with money. And as for her excitement... did she appear excited?
Mu Lin retorted that she was perfect.
With a casual glance at the two of them, she continued, "Regarding the poison in Madam Tang’s body..." Even Mu Lin wasn’t sure if it should be called a "poison". "It’s likely that so much time has passed that it has completely merged with Madam Tang’s own blood, which is the main cause of her perpetual unconsciousness." To eliminate it seemed almost impossible.
In the beginning, when she took Shen Wei’s pulse,
Shen Wei’s pulse felt steady, normal, and strong to Mu Lin, which was not expected from someone who had been in a coma for three years. It seemed there might be a silver lining to it after all.
Sometimes one really had to marvel at the fickle nature of fate; though Mu Lin didn’t believe in it.
She preferred to have control over her own fate.
"What should we do then?" Tang Qishan asked instinctively.
Mu Lin smirked, "That’s my concern." It was useless explaining because they wouldn’t understand. After a pause, she continued, "Hand me pen and paper."
On hearing this, Tang Jun quickly retrieved a pen and paper from a nearby drawer. Mu Lin took it from him, swiftly drafted something, then handed it back, saying, "Have all the herbs on this list ready for me. I’ll return in three days." She spoke with an icy, steady voice.
"Why not today?" Tang Jun couldn’t help asking. Since she was here today already, why wait another three days?
Tang Jun was desperate to see his mother open her gentle eyes once again.
Tang Qishan intervened, "Mu Lin certainly has her own plan, don’t worry." As he said this, he took the prescription from Tang Jun’s hand, studying it meticulously.
Unfortunately, not being a medical professional, he could not understand the names or uses of the listed medicines.
Mu Lin looked at them and laughed lightly, "Although I would like to address the issue immediately to avoid an additional trip, the fact is..."
But what? Tang Jun wondered.
Mu Lin looked at him, "Several of the herbs on that list need to be fresh, and some are quite rare. Are you sure you can find all of them today?" Even she couldn’t take that for granted. "Honestly, I believe it might be a scramble even within three days." They might not be able to find them all in that timeframe, though they certainly could try.
Tang Jun pursed his lips, choosing not to respond.
So that was the reason.
Mu Lin looked at Tang Qishan, saying lightly, "Since there’s nothing else for me here for now, I should be going."
On hearing this, Tang Qishan was taken aback for a moment before exclaiming, "Leaving so soon?" He collected his thoughts quickly and said, "It’s almost noon. Why not stay for lunch?" Also, "About the consultation fee." Tang Qishan distinctly remembered that the Poison Doctor’s fee was rather steep.
Especially considering the great favour Mu Lin had done him, the least he could do was offer her a homely meal.
However, Mu Lin just laughed it off, "Don’t worry about the fee. Consider it my way of expressing my gratitude for your frankness the last time, and this time." She had enough money, and besides, she wasn’t the type to be swayed by money. "As for the meal, it’s a bit early for me. I have another place to go to. Let’s leave that to next time." She wasn’t bothered about eating in general.
For Mu Lin, it didn’t matter whether or not she ate, what mattered was with whom she ate.
She was more keen on eating with her grandpa, but sadly, he wasn’t around.
Seeing that Mu Lin was determined, Tang Qishan didn’t insist. "I won’t keep you then." Mu Lin was straightforward. If she said she had something to do, she would indeed have something to do. Tang Qishan knew why Mu Lin had come to C Province. So, even though he couldn’t help her much, he couldn’t delay her either.
There would be more opportunities to have a meal together. As for the fees... Tang Qishan was at a loss as to how to settle them. Since Mu Lin didn’t want them this time, he could reconsider it next time.
Subsequently,
"Xiaojun, could you see Mu Lin out for me?" He preferred to stay and talk to Weiwei, to have a serious chat.
Tang Jun nodded, and as he looked at Mu Lin, she glanced at Tang Qishan, who was already eagerly at Weiwei’s bedside. She gave a small smile, and then turned to walk toward the door.
She would never have guessed that Tang Qishan was such a romantic.
"Um... thank you." Descending the stairs, Tang Jun’s somewhat hoarse voice rang in Mu Lin’s ears.
He never thought that his mother would ever have a chance to wake up. When the time comes, if his mother really did wake up, his gratitude would exceed beyond just a thank you.
In the beginning, Tang Jun truly didn’t have the confidence that Mu Lin would come.
However, on hearing his words, Mu Lin merely looked at him with a hint of amusement, her smile hard to interpret, "How come there’s such a change in style?" A straightforward daughter-in-law all of a sudden turned into a coy one.
Hearing Mu Lin’s words, Tang Jun couldn’t help but smile wryly.
He felt overwhelmed every time he faced her.
The Mu Lin of the past was indifferent and aloof, but the Mu Lin of recent days seemed to have transformed into a different person.
No wonder there were those rumors.
She does have a peculiar temperament, indeed quite peculiar.
Watching Mu Lin get into her car and drive away, Tang Jun was left with a sense of wonder.
