Chapter 580: Chapter 389 Linlin, I miss you (Third update)_2

"Did they give you a hard time?" he asked spontaneously.

Mu Lin shook her head nonchalantly, "You haven’t left yet." This might have been the first time Mu Lin took the initiative to speak normally to Mi Zheng today.

"I’m a bit concerned about you," he said with a jovial grin, "After all, no matter what, we have weathered adversity together. We ought to care for each other, don’t we?"

As he spoke, he gradually moved closer to Mu Lin with a smile playing on his lips.

Mi Zheng admitted to himself that he was...quite fond of the woman before him.

Her quick moves and that peculiar shooting technique spoke volumes about her being no ordinary woman.

It was a pity, however, that while he was fond of Mu Lin, she didn’t reciprocate his feelings; her aversion remained.

"Thank you for your concern." With these indifferent words, she surpassed Mi Zheng, heading towards the roadside. She flagged down a car and quickly disappeared from his sight, not looking back even once.

Touching his nose subconsciously, the corner of Mi Zheng’s mouth curled into a stunning smirk; tsk, tsk, tsk... It felt like this was the umpteenth time he had been brushed off today, a feeling he couldn’t quite put a number on.

However, the next time, he was determined to ensure she wouldn’t find him as repulsive.

Upon returning to the hotel, Mu Lin couldn’t help but notice the changing stares of the hotel staff. Their gazes were completely different from what they were in the beginning.

There was curiosity, caution, admiration, desire to get close yet fear to do so, all sorts of things. However, fear and terror didn’t seem to feature. The psychological endurance of the people in the present world truly appeared to be remarkably resilient.

Returning to her room, Mu Lin called room service to order dinner. Then she took a shower. Just as she stepped out of the bathroom, the doorbell chime echoed; the other party’s timing had been impeccable.

After a day of hustling, she was both tired and famished.

Mu Lin quietly had her dinner, thinking about all the day’s events as she ate.

Pondering idly over it, she then burst into laughter; she wondered if she should just go with the flow.

Just then, her phone rang. She picked it up, seeing the caller’s name, a smile crossed her face. Answering the phone, "Hello," her cold voice laced with a hint of mirth.

"Linlin, I miss you," the softness in his hawk-like eyes, the warm smile on his face as he leaned against the bed. With one hand holding the phone while another having a pillow tucked under his arm, pretending as if he was holding his beloved, seemed rather... comical.

It still was Mu Lin’s room; as Mu Lin was not around, Jing Chen had practically moved all of his things over, completely monopolizing her bed and quilt.

Even though the bed sheets had been changed, Jing Chen still felt that they retained the faint scent of her. The medicinal aroma from Linlin was comforting.

It was virtually psychological effect.

Mu Lin hadn’t been here for over a month. Any medicinal scent in the room had long dissipated. If there was any trace, it was indiscernible to anyone except those with a nose as keen as Mu Lin’s.

This scene was somewhat comical but also evoked a sense of inexplicable sadness.

Even without saying anything, Jing Chen wished he could silently stay by her side. Watching her seek answers to the questions thriving in her heart, and when danger arose, he would bravely step forward to protect her.

That was his current dream; the moment he held Mu Lin’s hand, this perhaps had become the greatest dream of his life.

Unfortunately, realizing this dream right now was too difficult; perhaps, things would be much easier a few years down the line. However, by then, everything would essentially have settled already.

"Have you finished your mission?" Jing Chen’s voice softened Mu Lin’s heart. He had said that Ouyang Jun was going to assign him a mission while she was leaving B City. Therefore, she hadn’t called him these past few days, even though she really missed him.

Before approaching C God, she had wanted to tell him she was safe. She had even dialed his number, but ultimately didn’t make the call.

Unlike Jing Chen, Mu Lin would silently miss him but never express it. Sweet nothings weren’t her forte. She preferred to express her feelings through her actions, letting her love understand her longing and passion for him.

Hearing the word "mission", Jing Chen scoffed lightly, following with a sigh, "There was no mission at all. It was merely training the new recruits. Coincidentally, it was Youlan’s group." Speaking of this, even though he had agreed to it, Jing Chen still couldn’t help but wish to drag out Ouyang Jun for a beating.

No, it should be an exchange of martial tips, helping him brush up on his skills before they rusted completely. This way, he wouldn’t come back from the battlefield missing an arm or a leg someday.

Ouyang Jun: How cruel! He politely declined. Just because he wasn’t as good as the young fellow, didn’t mean he didn’t train routinely.

Though he had assumed this position, the past had irreversibly seeped into his blood and bones.

Listening to Jing Chen’s words, and picturing his exasperated face, Mu Lin chuckled, "I’m sure Youlan and the others must be ecstatic." This was definitely sarcasm.

"They indeed were." Jing Chen laughed, thinking of the recruits who could barely stand by the end of the training today. That cheered him up quite a bit. After a pause, Jing Chen finally asked, "What about you? How are things in C province?" It must not have been straightforward.

Mu Lin: "It’s much more exciting than Ming City." It was so exciting that she was nearly overjoyed.
