Chapter 485: Chapter 336: Mu Lin Arrives (First Update)_1
"If you want to see her, you must hold on!" Jing Chen looked at him, perhaps regretting why he didn’t bring Mu Lin with him. But he knew that in that moment he could not have been so selfish.
He had his mission, and Mu Lin was dealing with her own affairs. He couldn’t interfere with her, never anticipated that in the end, she would have to make this trip.
Jing Chen believed that in this world, the only person who could save Xigua was Mu Lin.
At this moment, a woman stepped forward, looking at Xigua with regret in her eyes. "This is all my fault. If I hadn’t been careless, we wouldn’t have given the enemy an opportunity... Xigua was shot trying to save me." She acknowledged that Xigua had taken the bullet for her.
The woman was young, seeming about the same age as Mu Lin. She had an exotic look about her, but for many soldiers from China, they preferred their own Chinese women.
They had more flavor.
"Please don’t say that." Hearing the woman’s words, Er Fei said from the sidelines, "Escorting you safely back to Y Country is our mission and our duty as soldiers. You don’t need to blame yourself." Xigua’s injury, though related to her, was an inevitable part of the mission.
They were soldiers. From the moment they joined the military and took an oath, and the moment they joined Ying Sun, they were prepared for any sacrifices, even their lives, as long as the mission was accomplished.
This was their conviction.
The woman beside Er Fei was actually a leader’s daughter from Y Country. The relationship between this leader and China had always been good. But recently, tensions had escalated with another individual who even dispatched mercenaries and armies to kidnap her, potentially to use her as a negotiating chip. This led to her father contacting China’s leadership for help, in hopes of safely escorting the young girl back to Y Country. The task was of great importance and danger was unpredictable, so Jing Chen from B City’s Military Area was assigned to take charge.
Maintaining peace between the two nations was of utmost importance. The current competition in Y Country was intense and if the rival party took power, the temporary peace would likely be shattered.
Upon hearing Er Fei’s words, the woman remained self-blaming. As a naïve young girl, she never imagined that her playful excursion, attracted by the allure of China, would lead to such situation.
The people she had brought out with her were all dead. If they hadn’t been found by Chinese soldiers, she might have been captured, or even worse.
The woman felt very fortunate.
They had almost reached the border of Y Country the previous day, but unfortunately, the border was manned by the enemy. Many were injured in a resulting skirmish, including Xigua who was shot while trying to protect her.
The bullet was near the edge of his heart. They, with some experience in treating external injuries, dared not perform the procedure themselves.
They couldn’t guarantee if they could save Xigua; it was not a minor injury.
Members of Ying Sun were relieved that their boss had brought Qiaozi with them. They were now hoping that Qiaozi could deliver the message to their troops on China’s border, who would then notify B City’s Military Area, so that Mu Lin could arrive within three days.
Otherwise, as for Xigua... they dared not imagine.
Now, taking into account everything, more than a day had already passed.
If something were to happen to Xigua, they would risk their lives for revenge. In the hearts of everyone in Ying Sun, Xigua was incredibly important; many of them had been brought into Ying Sun under his guidance.
Xigua was more than a brother, often he was their mentor; funny how someone who claimed to know nothing always appeared to understand it all and guide them.
At this moment, everyone’s hope rested on Qiaozi, and... Mu Lin.
All members of Ying Sun believed that as long as Mu Lin arrived, Xigua would surely be saved.
When Jing Chen took out the items Mu Lin had given him, they were sincerely grateful. The surge of emotions in their hearts couldn’t be described.
