Chapter 386: Chapter 276: Mu Lin bearing grudges (Second update) _2

This was too terrifying.

While deep in contemplation, he accidentally lifted his gaze and saw the two people standing at the door. The police officer was taken aback, forgetting the recent shock, and looked at the new arrivals with surprise. "Doctor Mu Lin," he mumbled in a low voice, striding in the direction of Mu Lin and Jing Chen.

Honestly, after seeing Mu Lin, the frightening scene from earlier didn’t seem all that scary anymore.

To the officers in Ming City, nothing was more terrifying than...cough... Mu Lin.

Mu Lin thought: What did she do? She had probably already forgotten any ’major’ incident that she had been involved in.

"Doctor Mu Lin, why are you here?" he asked, standing next to her, appearing somewhat puzzled.

"Because I live here." It was the same question, with the same response.

The officer nodded, so this is why she was here. He had thought that Doctor Mu Lin was extremely well-informed, finding out about the situation so quickly.

"Where is Ren Laifeng?" Mu Lin casually asked.

The person standing in front of her, a familiar face, was the same officer who had been sent by Ren Laifeng to help bring Xiao Feng out of the jail. It seemed his last name was Zhang.

Normally they wouldn’t have to step in personally for such matters. But if they knew Mu Lin lived here, perhaps they would.

"Oh," Mu Lin nodded, still asking casually, "How’s the investigation going?" As she asked, she strolled toward Red Scorpion. Zhang followed her, much to the confusion of several staff members nearby.

They couldn’t help but notice that all of the police officers seemed to treat Mu Lin as if she were their boss. They respected her and answered any questions she had. Wasn’t she a doctor?

"The Forensic Department and the medical examiner are already here. They’re collecting evidence. So far, other than the victim’s fingerprints, no one else’s have been discovered." Zhang, the Deputy Bureau, didn’t hide anything.

"Is that so." Mu Lin smirked, "That’s a pity."

There was a brief moment of silence before Zhang asked, "Doctor Mu Lin, did you just say that you live here?" A daring question indeed.

However, it seemed Mu Lin didn’t mind, "Yes, that’s right." She turned to look at Zhang, "Are you suspecting me?" She asked with a faint smile, her emotions unreadable.

Zhang, Deputy Bureau, swiftly shook his head, "I wouldn’t dare." He didn’t want to die. Even for Mu Lin, he wouldn’t dare to touch her, especially after that question. The man standing next to her was looking at him with an icy stare that nearly made him lose his footing.

He knew who Mu Lin was. Her previous mission had been to ensure the safety of Ming City. If this death was indeed related to Mu Lin, then the case, in all honesty, might not need further investigation.

Zhang wanted to confirm his suspicion.

As for Jing Chen, in his eyes, Zhang was just deliberately trying to engage Mu Lin in conversation.

A world of jealousy, not understood by the ordinary.

Ignoring Zhang’s shock, Mu Lin walked up to Red Scorpion. Her indifferent gaze fell quietly on the corpse in front of her. A sly smile formed on her lips, "It seems that this man was angered to death before he died, evidenced by the blood he vomited out of rage." Her eyes swept over the tea table in front of her.

Mu Lin couldn’t believe it, the usually expressionless Black Scorpion had the potential to be sarcastic, even being able to make Red Scorpion vomit blood out of anger. Truly impressive.

Zhang stepped forward and nodded.

As for the medical examiner, he had stepped aside when Mu Lin and Zhang walked over. Hearing Mu Lin’s words, he looked at her with a hint of surprise.

It seemed true. Initially, he had thought that the woman died due to the shock of being murdered, which made her eyes bulge out in disbelief. But the twisted expression on her face coupled with her wide eyes, honestly, would probably give anyone nightmares. He needed to watch something else later to cleanse his sight.

"Answering your previous question." Mu Lin turned to look at Zhang, her smile elegantly tender. "Even though I do live here, I just got back today, I wasn’t here for a few days. As to my whereabouts, you could ask Mo Yinfan. He can vouch for me."

Upon hearing this, Zhang’s mouth twitched.

Ask Mo, did he have the guts to do that! Laughing awkwardly, "Doctor Mu Lin, you joke." Certainly, it was a joke.

Mu Lin looked innocent, "I’m telling the truth."

Hearing her, Zhang could barely maintain the smile at the corner of his mouth.

Doctor Mu Lin, the previous question was my mistake, could you please stop criticizing me? I’m not influential enough to take it, especially when I have to bear the icy stare that could send one to hell in an instant.

It’s so stressful.

Mu Lin laughed, looking at him, "I’ll give you a little advice."

"Please go ahead." He would accept any advice, as long as she stopped criticizing him.

"You don’t need to investigate this case too deeply." Because even if it was investigated, they wouldn’t find anything. And if they did find something, they would only bring harm upon themselves.

Mu Lin wasn’t referring to Black Scorpion, but rather the organization behind Red Scorpion.

Zhang looked at Mu Lin in shock, not knowing why she would suddenly say this. Could Mu Lin really be involved in this case?

"Don’t look at me like that, or I’ll think you’ve fallen in love with me." Mu Lin looked at him lightly, "As you can see, I’m already taken."

At that moment, the last trace of a smile disappeared from Zhang’s face, "Doctor Mu Lin, you win. I won’t dare do it again." Oh god, he felt as if his very soul had been frozen by that gaze.

Only then did he realize, Doctor Mu Lin really did hold grudges.
