Chapter 384: Chapter 275: Elder Jing (First update) _1
The following day, the sky was clear and the air crisp. It was a perfect day for a day out.
What a pity!
"Ah..."
A horrifying scream echoed through the entire corridor of the twenty-ninth floor of the Hongda Grand Hotel, including the floors above and below. It sent a violent tremor through the heart of the floor manager, who happened to be checking other rooms downstairs at that moment.
Could it be happening again like before? These past days have been dreadful. Everyone was on edge because of that eerie woman.
To be truthful, she was a beautiful woman, particularly her figure, which was devilishly attractive. It’s a pity that the floor manager, although a man, felt rather repulsed by such a woman. It wasn’t his problem initially, but after the incident a few days ago, his feelings can’t be merely described as repulsion anymore.
They had no idea where all those centipedes, snakes, rats, and other creatures came from. They didn’t know anything about the woman’s identity, but it seemed incredibly suspicious. There were rumors that she was a criminal, but the specifics were unclear. It seemed someone was investigating her.
That was when Mu Lin and Jing Chen arrived.
This floor contained the rooms of most important guests for the company’s CEO. If they ever found out about this incident, the manager doubted they would want to return. The scenes from those days were truly hair-raising, so nauseating, he couldn’t eat anything.
Entering the room and seeing the remains of the corpses, how on earth could he eat?
With no other choice, he walked gloomily towards room 2901. After experiencing this a few times, how could the screams still be so loud? The floor manager frowned.
"What’s the matter? You’ve seen it so many times before, why are you shouting?" Whenever he thought about what happened in the last few days, he felt extremely annoyed. As long as that woman continued to stay here, his mood would never be pleasing.
When there were no guests in the presidential suite, his work was the easiest and most comfortable. However, these past few days, his life was battered. He had to borrow staff from other floors every day.
"Floor manager." When she saw him, she ran over with a look of terror, hesitantly pointing inside, "There... there’s a dead body." It was horrendous.
She arrived early in the morning and noticed the door was unlocked, so she went in to check. Little did she expect to see... It nearly scared her to death.
The way the woman’s eyes were wide open in death, like she was about to rise and rip you apart.
"What did you say!" Hearing the maid’s words, the floor manager felt a shock in his heart. He stepped towards the inside of the room quickly only to fall to the ground when he saw the sight of the Red Scorpion slumped in a sofa with her eyes wide open.
What could be done now!
Gathering himself after the shock, he reluctantly got off the floor, took out his cell phone, and dialed their higher-ranking leader, ultimately choosing to call the police.
Even though this would severely impact their hotel, they couldn’t conceal it, nor could they hide it. If they did, it would only make things worse. The hotel might even end up getting shut down.
Thus, countless police cars soon arrived at the entrance of the Hongda Grand Hotel, attracting attention. All the guests were curious about what happened, but they didn’t get any information yet and could only observe from the sideline.
That was human nature, whether they were wealthy or not.
Around nine in the morning, Mu Lin and Jing Chen returned to the Hongda Grand Hotel. Seeing the multiple police cars parked outside, their eyebrows rose.
When she woke up this morning, she received a message from an unknown number. The message just said ’OK’ in a plain and simple manner. Mu Lin knew then that Black Scorpion was successful, and it looked like he did it with ease.
Hehe, who would have thought he would be that fast.
Approaching the reception desk, Mu Lin slightly cornered her lips, "Please give me the room key." Early in the morning, she had already told Mo Yinfan that her mission had been completely completed from today on.
"Doctor Mu." Spotting Mu Lin, the hotel receptionist was startled at first but then she regained her composure, "You’re back." There’s a strange look on her face.
"Hmm." Mu Lin nodded, looking outside, "What happened here?" Her unassuming pretense is convincingly good.
"There’s been a death upstairs." After a moment’s thought, the receptionist decided she couldn’t hide the event from Mu Lin and spoke in a low voice, "It looks like a gunshot murder." Witnesses said a bullet hit right in the forehead; it was incredibly brutal.
Although they genuinely disliked this woman, they never expected her to die. If only she died somewhere else. Now their hotel was in real trouble.
"Is that so." Mu Lin mused, nodding her head. The receptionist peered nervously at Mu Lin, "Dr. Mu, the incident occurred on the same floor where your room is located, right next to your neighboring room. I think, would you like me to help you switch rooms, or move to a higher floor? That entire floor has been cordoned off by the police now."
Who would’ve thought Mu Lin just happened to return today? It’s quite coincidental.
The receptionist had no idea that Mu Lin deliberately chose to return at this time. The receptionist merely considered that after all, Mu Lin was a young woman—even if she was a doctor—living on the floor where a person had died might induce fear or resentment.
This was purely overthinking, but it was also just human nature.
Hearing the front desk girl’s words, Mu Lin just casually shook her head, "There’s no need to go to that trouble, as long as it’s not my room, it doesn’t matter." Dead people were the least of her fears.
"Alright then." Seeing Mu Lin insisting, the front desk girl didn’t say much, and handed over the room card to Mu Lin after activating it.
Jing Chen and Mu Lin, hand in hand, headed toward the elevator.
Watching the pair walk away, although it wasn’t the best time, the front desk girl couldn’t help but be somewhat smitten. The pair was simply too perfect, Doctor Mu was so lucky to have such a perfect, unassailable boyfriend, yet it was impossible to feel jealousy toward her.
Compared to Doctor Mu, they were worlds apart, there was no place for jealousy. The highest feeling they could reach was probably envy.
...
Twenty-nine floors up.
Police were little by little collecting evidence, and some officers were taking statements from the floor staff.
When Jing Chen and Mu Lin stepped out of the elevator, they saw many police officers, as well as a cordon.
"We’re investigating a case here, unauthorized personnel are not allowed to enter." Seeing people approaching, a police officer quickly walked over. His expression was stern, his voice serious, but upon seeing Mu Lin, his eyes grew wide with surprise, "Little Divine Doctor Mu, what are you doing here?" His memory of Mu Lin was still fresh.
"I live here." Mu Lin said, a strange smile tugging at the corner of her mouth, "I heard someone died here?" Mu Lin was always straight to the point when she needed to be, which was exasperating at times.
"Uh...yes." The officer was taken aback, then nodded, unable to believe that Mu Lin also lived here.
"Can we go over and take a look?" Mu Lin asked abruptly.
The officer thought for a moment, looked at Jing Chen, then at his hand that was tightly holding Mu Lin’s. Finally, he nodded his head and led the way, "This way, please."
Everyone knew that their director called Mu Lin sister-in-law, so the man with Mu Lin must be his brother-in-law. Even though they did not know his identity, it was clear that he was not someone they could obstruct. He believed that even if the director was personally here, he wouldn’t stop them either.
Standing next to Mu Lin, Jing Chen glanced ahead dispassionately, "There’s nothing fun about dead people." He had no interest in that woman, he couldn’t be bothered to look.
With a faint smile, Mu Lin reminded, "I’m a doctor, I’m most used to cadavers. Don’t tell me you forgot." In truth, it was not enjoyment, but habit. Mu Lin had grown used to dealing with corpses.
Hopefully, it won’t spoil her mood!
Hearing this, Mu Lin gave him a casual glance, choosing to ignore his comment.
Was he...in heat?
As for the police officer leading the way in front, he felt like crying but had no tears. They were unwittingly subjected to a dose of heavy petting. What were they, the perennially single, supposed to do with this?
So, upon bringing Mu Lin to room 2901 and giving her a brief greeting, he quickly beat a retreat.
They didn’t encounter any resistance upon entering the room.
"So you’re saying, when you came in this morning, it was already like this, right?" A police officer took notes as he asked.
"Yes." The manager nodded, "I rushed over here only after hearing the scream. I never expected to see such a scene." It nearly scared the life out of him.
"You were the first to discover the body?" After questioning the manager, the officer turned his attention to the female housekeeper next to him.
"Yes." She was still so frightened that she wasn’t fully recovered.
It was no wonder, these things were indeed a bit too terrifying for ordinary people.
"Give us a detailed account of what happened."
"Alright." The woman nodded, "This morning, like every other, I prepared to clean room 2903 first, because that is where our most important guest stays." She paused, took a deep breath, then continued: "But when I passed 2901 room, I found the door was not locked, so I thought I’d go in and check it out. I thought something may have happened in there."
"Again?" Standing next to the officer, a person furrowed his brow, "Are you saying that something similar has happened before?"
