Chapter 370: Chapter 267: My Person (Second update) _1

"This man by your side, he is truly... a masterpiece!"

Pausing in his stride, a wicked smile curled upon his lips, "Since you desire me, it appears indeed that you’ve grown weary of life!" His gaze turned icy-cold, devoid of warmth. Although he stood in a seemingly subservient position, it seemed as if the positions of the two of them had forcibly been reversed.

At that moment, a chill ran down Red Scorpion’s heart.

On a regular day, before Mu Lin had claimed Jing Chen as her own, she may have laughed off Red Scorpion’s remarks, or even teased her a bit. But today was not that day.

Upon hearing Mu Lin’s words, Red Scorpion chuckled seductively, "Oh, even the mighty Poison Doctor can lose her temper. It seems this man is important to you." Her eyes sparkled enticingly, openly attempting to seduce Jing Chen.

Pity though, Jing Chen didn’t even bother to spare her a glance. His heart and eyes were filled solely with the words Mu Lin had just said.

From the moment Linlin stated she was his, he was overjoyed. Seeing Jing Chen’s focused gaze on Mu Lin made Red Scorpion grit her teeth, her heart full of jealousy.

Why did Mu Lin get the best, and she... get nothing?

The man next to Mu Lin was superior to Black Scorpion in every aspect.

Just as these thoughts filled her mind, she suddenly felt a sharp pain on her cheek. She reflexively reached up, and when she saw the bright red blood on her fingertips, her eyes instantly reddened.

"Mu Lin, you actually dared to hurt my face! Don’t think I’m really afraid of you." To Red Scorpion, her face was more important than anything else.

"This is just a warning." Mu Lin’s voice was cold and indifferent, her eyes devoid of warmth, "Red Scorpion, I don’t feel like killing you today, but if you’re really tired of living," her lips curled into a slow smile, "I won’t mind giving you a taste of Hades." She promised her a swift end.

When it came to all things that mattered to the woman in front of her, Mu Lin knew them all too well.

"Although it feels a bit of a waste, I think the taste will be quite extraordinary."

At the mention of ’Hades’, Red Scorpion’s body gave a violent start.

Within their organization, they had heard of the various dangerous poisons in Mu Lin’s possession. Although they had never encountered ’Hades’, they had studied a few other lesser known toxins, albeit reluctantly admitted that none within their organization could come up with an antidote to any poison concocted by the Poison Doctor.

As for ’Hades’, even she was unable to develop its antidote. If one were to be contaminated by it, death would be imminent.

Mu Lin suggested that she indeed has the antidote to ’Hades’, but lamented that the timing was not right, so there was nothing she could do.

With a resentful, cautious gaze, Red Scorpion watched Mu Lin. In the end, she only huffed a little and dared not act rashly. For now, she could only swallow this insult.

Next time, she would ensure Mu Lin was groveling before her, begging for mercy, wishing for death over life.

Unfortunately, no one is likely to believe in such an improbable reality, especially Mu Lin, who needn’t pay much info it.

With an indifferent gaze at the woman before her, "Enjoy the excitement brought by Charm Scent for the time being." Mu Lin was actually curious to see how the woman would handle a situation or how she would confront her next time around.

These challenges became Mu Lin’s leisure, while Jing Chen’s pleasure was simply being with her, anytime, anywhere.

Mu Lin discovered that since her arrival in this world, she seemed to enjoy playing more and more; it was really quite satisfying to see the fear in their eyes, too terrified to speak up.

The next day, Mu Lin had entirely forgotten about the events of the previous night, and along with her classmate Jing Chen, they visited the Hong family mansion. It had been quite some days, and she felt it necessary to check up on the situation.

Once again, the luxury car she had just bought (a Porsche) was abandoned in the garage.

Jing Chen drove the car smoothly through the heavily guarded Main Gate, without needing any announcement. Naturally, after several visits, Mu Lin’s face had become a pass to enter.

The car drove into the Hong family estate and stopped in front of the mansion. As soon as Mu Lin and Jing Chen got out of the car, they immediately heard a cry of surprise.

"My word, the legendary Military Jeep, it’s simply blinding with its coolness!" Just emerging from the house, Hong Boyuan’s eyes were practically glued to the military vehicle at the entrance. He even overlooked his favorite, Mu Lin.

Mu Lin and Jing Chen exchanged a glance and did not speak.

Jing Chen walked over to Mu Lin’s side, reaching out automatically to hold her hand, constantly asserting his claim over her.

At this point, the bystander, who had been emitting sighs of admiration, finally noticed the two people sitting diagonally across from him...and the hands they were innocently holding.

"Mu Lin." Standing up, Hong Boyuan approached Mu Lin, nodded at Jing Chen sitting next to him and continued, "What brings you here today?" He almost missed this chance again.

"I’m here to see your father about something," said Mu Lin with a faint smile, looking at the young man. He seemed to have come late for school.

"Oh." Hong Boyuan thoughtfully nodded, "No wonder I saw my father had no intention to go out. I had no idea you were visiting. I wish someone had told me." He now finds occasions to meet with Mu Lin fairly rare.

Mu Lin responded with a smile but held his silence.

Unfazed, Hong Boyuan turned his gaze to Jing Chen, smirked and asked, "Jing Chen, I heard you’re quite skilled?" With such a bold remark, he was truly demonstrating a youthful ignorance. If people from Ying Sun’s group were present, they would be greatly amused to see him speak to their leader with such flamboyant bravura.

Hearing this, Jing Chen raised an eyebrow, "Where did you hear that from?" He answered with a counter-question.

"People say so." Hong Boyuan commented. He genuinely asked many people, and the answers were all identical, including from their family patriarch.

Pausing as if deep in thought, Hong Boyuan looked at Jing Chen and asked, "Are you as skilled as Mu Lin?" He was genuinely curious about this.

In Hong Boyuan’s eyes, Mu Lin was omnipotent. Although he shared some tales of Jing Chen’s deeds, they were merely hearsay and didn’t make a deep impression like seeing is believing.

Hearing this question, Jing Chen was slightly taken aback; he then gently curled up his lips in a soft smile, "Of course... Linlin is more skilled." His gaze towards Mu Lin was tender and adoring; Hong Boyuan nodded his head in satisfaction.

He knew that it would be so.

"It’s time for you to leave," Mu Lin reminded Hong Boyuan and then looked at Jing Chen, "Let’s go in."

Jing Chen nodded, "Okay."

Watching their backs as they left, Hong Boyuan stood in place hesitantly.

Should he stay? Should he stay? Or, should he stay?

Alright, he decided to stay.

Turning around, he briskly followed Mu Lin and Jing Chen while dialing a number on his phone, "Hey, nutcase, you’ll have to go to school alone today. I have to go home to entertain an important guest." After speaking, he abruptly hung up without giving Xiao Feng a chance to respond.

On the other end, Xiao Feng must be considerably frustrated.

An important guest? What kind of important guest required the attention of someone as inexperienced as him for their reception? Did Grandpa Hong really trust him?

Xiao Feng was full of doubts.

Meanwhile, Hong Boyuan was quite casual about it. After all, he didn’t like any of the classes scheduled for today. Moreover, the professor was such a bore that he always felt drowsy in his class. Although the other professor’s classes were fairly interesting, he only ever heard him boasting about himself. Boyuan felt he wasn’t suited to be a teacher and should instead perform comedy - he had an endless stream of stories.

Both of these professors had lectures scheduled for today.

The truly remarkable people, in Hong Boyuan’s view, were like Mu Lin - modest, unassuming, and non-confrontational unless provoked. It seemed Jing Chen was the same.

Just like truly wealthy people, the ones with real wealth were usually very low-key. As for those show-offs, they were either new-money or merely middle-class. Looking at it that way, the Hong Family was also pretty low-key! At least they never actively attracted attention, always donating anonymously to public welfare activities and avoiding attending functions, so they wouldn’t have to handle all kinds of flattery.

Hong Boyuan admitted that what he disliked most were hypocritical gestures. Although he was aware he would eventually take over the businesses of the Hong Family, he decided for now, he should live as freely as he could, since he wouldn’t have much hope for that in the future.

Mu Lin and Jing Chen arrived at the Hong Family’s living room, where Grandpa Hong was already sitting alertly and watching TV news. On seeing Mu Lin and Jing Chen, he was slightly taken aback, then quickly turned off the TV and stood up, instructing his staff to call for Hong Mingsheng. He then walked forward to greet them, "Doctor Mu? Weren’t you supposed to come around ten o’clock? It’s only around eight."

Seeing the cold, handsome face next to Mu Lin, Grandpa Hong was greatly shocked.

Hong Boyuan had asked his grandparents about the visit when he got home that day and also mentioned a few things about Mu Lin.

Looking at their interlocked hands, Grandpa Hong guessed, perhaps this was the Jing Chen of B City, whose eyes were sharp, icy and indifferent, giving off an intimidating presence. It wasn’t much different from the stories.

So, it was true! However, when these two stood together, their good appearances made for a perfect landscape scene. They were a perfect match made in heaven!

Their excellence was represented perfectly by this idiomatic phrase. Or perhaps, it should be said the idiom falls short in describing these two. Standing before him, Grandpa Hong found himself unable to describe them without diminishing their brilliance in some way.
