This is the back alley beside Minda Hotel, Yang Hao’s everyday route. The walk from her school to this back alley takes approximately twenty minutes. From there, she can directly take a bus home, thus saving the cost of an additional bus transfer. But more importantly, an extra walk every day is beneficial to her both physically and mentally.

She takes a deep breath, wipes the stubborn tears off her face, tries to smile, but it comes out even worse than her crying.

Yang Hao tells herself that this will be the only time she allows herself to be heartbroken. After today, she would no longer cry for Tian Jiayu. She convinces herself that ending things now is better than doing so later to avoid more heartbreak.

Although she wouldn’t exactly say she loved Tian Jiayu, they had been together for so long that they had developed feelings for each other. It’s impossible for her to move on so quickly. She should allow herself time to grieve

Once more, she sniffles and prepares to continue her journey, only to be startled by a low, pained and stifled groan from the end of the alleyway. She stops, and carefully moves towards the source of the noise.

She remembers this place; it’s the back entrance to the hotel.

Approaching slowly, she spots a man leaning against a wall in one corner. The sight of him startles Yang Hao.

"Sir? Sir! Are you okay?" The man appears to be in pain, his laboured breathing sounding heavy and troubled.

But before Yang Hao can approach further, a hand lashes out and grabs hold of her. The heat coming from the hand is so intense it makes her shudder.

"Help me." His voice low and hoarse, Black Scorpion hadn’t expected the aphrodisiac from Red Scorpion to be so potent. He’s unable to hang on and make his escape. He feels his strength failing him. If things continue as they are, he’ll die. The girl’s cold touch seems to distract him slightly, but he feels a slow resurgence of his strength.

"How can I help you?" Yang Hao doesn’t know what to do. "Should I take you to the hospital? You feel feverish." He’ll die if he continues to burn like this.

"No need." He shakes his head weakly. He lifts his gaze to see the girl’s pure, albeit blurry, face. "Just help me find a room. You can leave me there." He’ll have to figure out the rest later.

"That won’t do." Yang Hao hesitated initially looking at him, but seeing him remain stubborn when he’s practically burning up made her determined to help. "No, I must take you to the hospital." Without medical attention, he will either die from the fever or become mentally deranged.

Truth be told, Yang Hao had never seen such an attractive man before, except for the man who used to stand by Mu Lin. Comparatively, Tian Jiayu couldn’t compare to him.

Disgusted with herself, she questions why she’s even thinking of Tian Jiayu. Does she want to break her own heart again?

Unfortunately, despite Yang Hao’s insistence, the man refuses. "I know my body better. Just help me find a room." Black Scorpion doesn’t know how much longer he can hold on. He needs to find a place to immerse himself in cold water to curb the fever.

Left without other options and seeing Black Scorpion so insistent, Yang Hao agrees. Searching for a room, the most convenient place was a hotel. But she couldn’t find out where the man lived despite several attempts.

The Minda Hotel, cost-wise, it’s not something Yang Hao could afford. Even if she could, she can’t bring herself to spend that much. So she settles for a nearby inn and helps Black Scorpion into a room. Black Shark virtually eclipses her as she escorts him.

Though it’s just an inn, its location in the city center meant that Yang Hao had to spend a significant sum of money. Considering this is money she’s earned from several days of work, the expense causes her pain.

Nevermind. Saving a life is what’s important. Pretty soon, she’ll earn the money back. Thanks to the money they earned from Mu Lin a while back, their financial situation has improved. She wonders where Mu Lin is.

As soon as the door to the room opens, Black Scorpion pushes past Yang Hao and barges into the bathroom. Turning on the shower, the cold water strikes his body. Shocked, Yang Hao exclaims, "You still have a fever! How can you shower with cold water like this? Won’t it make things worse?" Is this person even aware of the basics? Even though cooling down is important, this is not the way to do it.

Unfortunately, he pays her no mind. She can’t bring herself to intrude upon him. Besides, even if she were to go in, there’s not much she’d be able to do. Left with no other option, she impatiently paces outside.

She decides to stop worrying about it and walks away.

On the flip side, at the police station, in the interrogation room.

"Sorry to have kept you, we should now get down to business." He flashes a warm smile, his icy stare pierces into the shocked gaze of his interlocutor. "Earlier on, I was just playing a small joke on you, just a little game."

"Ahh..." He sighs heavily. "I had given you a chance to state your case, but you didn’t take it. And so we’ll resort to... interrogation."

"Where do we start?" His contemplative gaze and furrowed brows make him look distressed, giving the officers observing from above a disconcerting chill.
