Chapter 319: Chapter 236: Mu Lin being put to use quickly (one more update) _2

However, upon hearing Mo Qian’s words, Mu Lin suddenly laughed, laughing quite rudely. "What if you come across a slow poison that can’t be detected even by a silver needle? Or ones that don’t act immediately, they may take several hours, several days, or even several months to have effect. What would you do then?" She suggested they fend for themselves.

Mo Qian looked at Mo Yinfan but did not speak.

Honestly, they had not considered this much; since those people wanted his life, they assumed it would happen blatantly on the spot; they had oversimplified this point.

Looking at them, Mu Lin chuckled lightly, "Do you know why I just said the smell was fragrant?"

Mo Yinfan: "Please enlighten us."

"People in the secular world praise my medical skills." As she spoke, an unapologetic snort resounded in her ear. Mu Lin ignored it and continued, "However, no one knows how deadly I can be." Moreover, she was rather fond of poisons. It was her lifelong interest.

After all, no one knows her identity as a Poison Doctor yet, but in due time, they will quite likely know.

"What a unique experience." Hearing Mu Lin’s words, Mo Yinfan sighed, paused for a moment, but furrowed his brows the next moment. "The ’fragrant’ you just mentioned refers to the poison." He had thought that Mu Lin was referring to the coffee, but she had clearly stated earlier that she did not drink coffee because it contained ingredients she disliked.

"Clever." Looking at Mo Yinfan, Mu Lin praised him with a smile and glanced at the coffee in front of him, the heat slowly dissipating. "You have been given ’Seven-Day Return’; it can also be called ’Return of the Soul in Seven Days.’ A return to the underworld.

"This poison is colorless and tasteless, and even a silver needle can’t test for it; the only ’advantage’ is that if you are poisoned, you continue to live normally for seven days. When the seven days are up, you die without any pain." This poison is more suitable for suicide.

"How can you detect it if it’s colorless and tasteless?" Mo Qian looked at Mu Lin, not entirely trusting her words.

Mu Lin smiled, "The lack of color and taste is only relative to the noses of ordinary people. For those of us who grew up amongst herbal and poisonous medicines, there definitely is a scent." Just a very light scent; honestly, she didn’t believe anything could completely lack scent in this world.

If it’s a matter of detecting poison, it depends on one’s individual medical skills and poison techniques.

"Unexpectedly, there is someone who can compound ’Seven-Day Return.’ I really want to meet this person." Upon saying this, Mu Lin expressed some interest, her lips curving into a subtle smile; after all, ’Seven-Day Return’ was something that had only been mentioned in medical records.

"Is there an antidote for this poison?" This was the focal point of Mo Yinfan’s concern.

Mu Lin: "Normally speaking, there isn’t."

Mo Qian: "And non-normally speaking?"

Mu Lin chuckled, "Of course there is." She slowly brought the coffee cup to her face and took a gentle sniff, "The world’s creatures all interact and counteract with each other; all supposedly incurable poisons actually do have an antidote. It’s simply that some have not yet been formulated." Like Hades’s poison, which she had yet to devise an antidote for.

Mo Yinfan lowered his gaze, deep in thought.

"Do you mean to say that you have an antidote for the ’Seven-Day Return’ poison?" Mo Qian, who knew nothing about all this, was certainly more interested in the antidote.

"Yes." Mu Lin nodded and after a pause added, "I just don’t know where I put it." She guessed it was probably left in the Black Forest and got buried at the bottom of a drawer.

The antidote to ’Seven-Day Return’, and even the poison itself, were things Mu Lin researched years ago. As time passed, she had quite forgotten where she had stashed them.

This was obvious.

Mo Qian narrowed her mouth, suddenly not wanting to engage with Mu Lin anymore.

Mu Lin turned to Mo Yinfan, "For this cup of coffee, you should have your assistant make another one. The most important thing now is, you need to investigate when this poison was added." She remembered that there was something known as surveillance in this mortal world that could be quite useful. Even though there are plenty of blind spots.

Hearing Mu Lin’s words, Mo Qian quickly got the assistant to come in, then disappeared again.

"Do you want to ask or should I?" Mo Yinfan asked Mu Lin, seeking her opinion. But Mu Lin seemed to be completely distancing herself from the situation, "You can ask." She preferred not to be involved in these bothersome matters.

Mo Yinfan nodded and turned to the young assistant, "Xiaozhang, did anything unusual, or did you meet anyone unusual, happen on your way here after making the coffee?"

The assistant shook her head slowly, "No." What could Mo Yinfan be referring to?

"Think carefully." Mu Lin reminded, "Anyone will do, preferably someone you don’t recognize."

Xiaozhang tilted her head and tried hard to think, "Someone I don’t recognize?"

"Ah, I remember now." Being young, she was somewhat prone to being startled.

"What do you remember?" Mo Yinfan asked instinctively.

"When I was making coffee in the pantry, I did see a woman. I even spoke to her." Their floor had few people and only three or four of them usually use the pantry. So, when a stranger appeared, she instinctively asked a few questions, thinking she was new and careless; "I asked her who she was and how she ended up on our floor, but she just walked away without answering." Xiaozhang guessed she had been caught using their pantry unauthorized and had fled.

Quite a naive girl.

Mu Lin looked at Mo Yinfan, "I guess it was then."
