Chapter 313: Chapter 233 - Mu Lin is Actually a Down-to-Earth Person (Part One)
Before too long, three police cars showed up before everyone, parked, and then seven or eight police officers got out, parting a path through the crowd.
"Mr. Jing, what wind has blown you to our Ming City?" A man slowly walked out from behind one group of officers. With a square face and ordinary looks, he carried an air of righteousness. Ren Laifeng was one of Jing’s few old friends. He walked up to Jing Chen and joked without any hesitation.
"I came to find some work for you, so you don’t get hemorrhoids sitting in your office all day." Jing Chen turned around and looked at the man indifferently, though a smile began to form on his lips. Seeing the man seemed to have improved Jing Chen’s mood slightly.
"It’s been a while, but your words are still as hurtful." Ren Laifeng sighed and shook his head, not surprised by Jing’s sarcasm at all. The next moment, he was captivated by the large bouquet of flowers in front of him, "My God, who gave you these flowers? Today isn’t Valentine’s Day, yet you’re getting quite popular."
Jing Chen scowled when he heard this.
Ren Laifeng, whose name meant a man who is crazy, was indeed quite crazy.
It was a comically interesting story when these two first met. Jing Chen was younger then, and it was his first time doing a task. Along the way, he inexplicably saved Ren Laifeng, who had yet to accomplish much, thus Jing Chen was stuck with the clingy Laifeng. To make matters worse, Jing Chen got injured after completing the task, and had to rely on Ren Laifeng’s assistance. This rescue story made them acquainted.
Looking back, the story seems simple, but in reality, it was anything but.
These two men, one verbose and jovial, the other reticent and carrying a chilly air, despite their differences, formed an unusual friendship.
In front of Ren Laifeng, Jing Chen would occasionally show his sarcastic side, which was rare to see. Unexpectedly, other than being around Mu Lin, Jing Chen had another facet of himself.
Glancing indifferently at Ren Laifeng, Jing Chen pulled Mu Lin by his side, "She’s my wife." He said arrogantly. The sudden announcement knocked Laifeng back, even though he wasn’t wearing glasses.
My wife, my wife, my wife...
At this moment, those daring words were all that ran through Laifeng’s mind.
"Oh my God, the perennial bachelor has finally blossomed. It seems I can keep my virginity after all." Laifeng mused, living up to his crazy reputation.
Jing Chen instantly went dark again.
As for Mu Lin, she was not sure how to react to the crazy man in front of her.
Isn’t a man of law and order supposed to be very serious and authoritative? What kind of monster is he? Even ordinary people couldn’t accept this.
Not only Mu Lin, but even the officers behind Laifeng were at a loss, as if they were seeing him for the first time. This man...certainly wasn’t their righteous, brilliant, and martial boss. He must have been replaced by someone else.
After a while, Laifeng returned to his stoic demeanor and looked at Mu Lin, saying, "Hello, sister-in-law."
Mu Lin furrowed her brows slightly. "My name is Mu Lin."
Ren Laifeng: "Hello, Sister-in-law Mu Lin."
Mu Lin: "... " speechless and helpless, she decided not to say more; it was inexplicably shocking that Jing Chen had such a friend.
Another moment passed, and Laifeng was back to normal. He looked at Jing Chen and asked, "You called me out here all of a sudden, is there an emergency?" Earlier, Jing had called him to lead a team right away, mentioning that some people needed to be taken in for education, but didn’t elaborate further before hanging up. The location was merely found based on the GPS of his phone. Jing Chen just knew how to give him a hard time.
Seeing so many people gathered at the site, Laifeng guessed it was the right place.
When he arrived and saw Jing Chen’s good-for-nothing face, and a young girl next to him, it was clear to him that an old cow was eating tender grass. Shameless.
"Take these guys behind you and teach them a lesson for a week or two before letting them out. I don’t want them to continue to harm others outside." Jing Chen scoffed coldly. His face showed a chilling air. How dare they tease his wife!
He learned about this from some of the people standing near the scene.
Following Jing’s gaze, Ren Laifeng turned around to look at the four disheveled men. "What did they do?" He asked subconsciously.
"They teased your sister-in-law," Jing replied with absolute chill in his voice.
Upon hearing this, Laifeng felt an indescribable sympathy for the four men. Of all the people to mess with, they chose to offend Jing and even dared to tease the only wife of the perennial bachelor. They were evidently looking for trouble.
Without hesitation, Ren nodded in agreement, "They should indeed be sent in for education for a week or two. Let them learn their lesson. Moreover, it will help them grow a brain." They were nothing but fools right now.
While speaking, he walked over to the four people. It was then when he recognized their faces. Ren Laifeng was astonished; these were the notorious spoiled brats of Ming City, who only cared for squabbles and courting girls all day. If they didn’t have their rich and powerful fathers, they would have been brought down a long time ago. Well, they had run into a hard wall today.
"Take all four of them in. As for the cars, have them towed away tomorrow." Ren Laifeng turned around and gave the order.
"Yes." Immediately, a police officer stepped forward to pick up the four men, preparing to take them away.
...
"You dare!" However, at the next moment, a defiant voice rang out again, "Do you know who my father is?" They dared to arrest them.
"I don’t care who your father is." Ren Laifeng’s sharp gaze slightly solidified, "Even if your father is god himself, if you’ve committed a crime, you have to be taken in." Ordinary people, Ren Laifeng might not be able to give any face, let alone, he making it clear who their dad was. Pity though, compared with Master Jing, they were simply insignificant, completely useless.
"What crime did we commit? We just talked to a woman. She was happy to chat with us. You’re poking your nose in everything," another man sneered, certainly the scummiest of them four.
Hearing this, Ren Laifeng sighed, it seemed they were indeed some defiant young masters. To tell the truth, he already knew that many good girls had suffered at their hands, some deceived, some played with, and of course, some were willing, he really couldn’t intervene in this.
Today was just an opportunity.
However, Ren Laifeng was used to hearing such nonsense, but Jing Chen wasn’t. He stepped forward and punched the man in the face. The man’s mouth suddenly curved, a tooth fell out, "Say that again." His voice was low, filled with murderous intent.
They didn’t even have the right to talk to his Linlin.
Ren Laifeng quickly ordered his men to take them away; to tell the truth, he fully believed that if the man continued to speak recklessly, Jing Chen could really kill him in a minute. It was his luck that he only got one punch.
However, from this, Ren Laifeng understood the position of Mu Lin in Jing Chen’s heart, it was deep. This celibate had actually allowed the seeds to take root directly in his heart, it was amazing.
To tell the truth, he admired Mu Lin, who was able to capture this lifelong bachelor. She was not a human being, she was a god.
The police officer, hearing the conversation, quickly took the man away, but just as he was stepping out, Mu Lin’s cold voice rang again at the right time, "Please wait a moment." She had unfinished business.
"What else is there?" Looking at Mu Lin, Ren Laifeng felt a bit nervous; there were a lot of people here, and he didn’t want any issues to pop up. They could leave without cleaning up, leaving him to deal with the aftermath, it would surely bring a heap of trouble.
"Nothing." Mu Lin’s lips curved in a pleasant smile, "I just wanted to say, this man smashed a young lady’s phone to pieces, at least, he should pay before leaving." After all, this happened because of her.
He let out a sigh of relief subconsciously, "It should indeed be compensated, how much should it be?" Ren Laifeng asked, looking at Mu Lin.
"Well..." Mu Lin looked down, contemplating, "The cost of the phone plus the cost of being frightened, give me fifty thousand at most." She wondered subconsciously if it was too little.
Fifty thousand at most! She was saying it so lightly.
But for these young masters, it was indeed a small amount of money.
Ren Laifeng looked at the other side.
"I don’t have any cash." One man’s teeth were leaking air, and his mouth was already swollen, just like a pig’s head.
"Then go and get it." Mu Lin’s reply was more practical because she had already seen the solid bank sign across the street.
The man coldly snorted, indicating he didn’t want to go and get the money. It was none of his business. In his opinion, it was the woman’s fault for meddling.
Mu Lin raised her eyebrows, it seemed they hadn’t been beaten enough.
Before she could say anything more, another man said, "How about I go?" His casual words attracted Mu Lin’s gaze. She looked at him briefly then nodded at Ren Laifeng, who immediately arranged for two people to go with him.
Actually, this was not a big deal. The only problem was that it involved Jing Chen, thus it became a big deal.
Gazing at the slowly receding figure, Mu Lin had an impression of this boy. But, before she could think further, a pair of large hands uncouthly wrapped around her waist.
"What are you looking at so intently?" This was definitely a voice filled with jealousy, Mu Lin didn’t quite catch on to it, but Ren Laifeng definitely did.
Mu Lin: "Just now, he was the only one who didn’t really lay a hand on me." This man was different from the other three.
"Is that so." His gaze was faint, without any significant impressions.
"What’s his name?" Mu Lin asked.
"Xiao Feng."
