Chapter 304: Chapter 229: The Mission is Here (Third Update)_1
"Why are you in my room?" Mu Lin knitted her eyebrows while looking at the handsome smiling face in front of her. She felt a sense of exhaustion deep within her heart; she remembered that she just arrived yesterday. She thought she wouldn’t need to see him for the next three months, yet here he was, his handsome yet irritatingly charming face meeting her eyes...
However, as soon as Mu Lin’s words fell, the figure who had been at a distance was suddenly standing in front of her, "Linlin, I’ve missed you." Mu Lin’s ears were graced with his voice, full of longing. Before she could respond, she was suddenly pulled into a broad chest by a strong arm, tightly; her nose was instantly filled with Jing Chen’s unique scent.
A scent that Mu Lin did not find repulsive.
With her hands on Jing Chen’s chest to maintain some distance between them, Mu Lin’s gentle voice sounded in his ear, "I remember, we just met yesterday." She reminded him without any hesitation.
Hearing her slightly disgusted tone, Jing Chen let go of her with a laugh. His mirth-filled eyes maintained their focus on her, "Linlin, haven’t you heard of a saying, ’a single day apart feels like three seasons’; we’ve been apart for more than a single day." How could he not miss her?
She glanced at him dismissively, "You haven’t told me why you’re in my room." She remembered that he should not have a key card. More importantly, this was a presidential suite, and she was nearly considered a VVIP guest of this hotel. When did VVIP guests’ rooms become so easily accessible to others?
"I told the front desk people that I am your fiancé." Jing Chen said, his smirk really begging for a punch.
"They believed this?" Mu Lin raised an eyebrow then walked over to sit down on the couch. After all, even if it was just a front desk staff, they were all professionally trained, much like soldiers; they just performed different duties and had different training regimes.
"Why wouldn’t they?" Jing Chen counter-questioned. Without any hesitation, he walked towards Mu Lin and sat down next to her, crossing his legs. After a pause, he continued, "After all, I did have them check my ID."
Of course.
Mu Lin quirked an eyebrow - so his intimidating ID had the upper hand.
Indeed, this guy’s identity was not something the average person could easily resist. Just the mention of his name was enough to scare off people.
"How did you know I was here?" While gently stroking Qiaozi’s head, Mu Lin asked casually.
Jing Chen: "That doesn’t matter." What’s important is, "Linlin, why do you only pet it and not pet me?" He doesn’t have to answer her question about how he found her. After all, their tracking system worked quite well.
This is clearly misuse of public resources, and he wasn’t even blushing.
Hearing Jing Chen’s words, Mu Lin rolled her eyes. Was this guy trying to act cute?
Jing Chen expressed: No, he was trying to win her favor.
Unfortunately, Mu Lin paid no attention to him. Jing Chen sighed; it seems the distance to Linlin’s heart was still far away. He had to continue trying.
...
"Come on, you came to look for me specifically. Is there something special?" Mu Lin changed the topic.
"Why does Linlin never believe me when I say I missed you and came to see you?" Honestly, he was here to pursue his love. Of course, there were a few other things he needed to sort out.
Unfortunately, Mu Lin simply did not believe him, "I remember you’ve been taking leave pretty frequently recently, so..." He should understand what she meant.
What Mu Lin was trying to say was that the higher-ups would probably not allow him to take leave that easily anymore. If he was here in Ming City, it must be because he had a task to complete, or he was here to give her a task to complete.
Jing Chen expressed that having a wise wife wasn’t a good thing after all.
He took a slow breath, regaining his solemn expression, "Indeed, there is a task."
"Yours or mine?" Mu Lin continued to ask casually.
"It sort of involves you." If she was willing, that is. If she wasn’t, that would be even better; cough cough...
Hearing his words, Mu Lin raised her eyebrow, "Sort of?" What did he mean by that? Was it yes, or no? She needed a clear answer.
"I want to know, do you have time to handle this task?" After all, Jing Chen knew that Mu Lin was here specifically to sort out her personal affairs. If she did not have time, he could arrange for someone else to come. In fact, whether it was Jing Chen himself, or everyone in Ying Sun team, they knew very well that the reason Jing Chen showed up today was definitely not entirely for official business.
