Chapter 303: Chapter 228 Hmm. Untitled (Second update)_2

This kid seems a bit off today. I wonder if he’s got himself beaten up again.

Hearing this, Hong Boyuan snorted. He didn’t even have to guess to know who was speaking. "Oh, it’s you, you crazy. What sudden call for?" Only the crazy Xiao would speak to him like that.

Being crazy was Xiao Feng’s signature, someone who grew up with him doing mischief. He was more extravagant than Boyuan himself.

In all honesty, Boyuan never regarded himself as particularly extravagant. He rarely took part in the shenanigans of their group. As for Xiao Feng, he didn’t really care for mingling much either.

The hurdle that lay within his heart still troubled him, even after such a long time.

The other person snorted in amusement. "Oh, it’s really nothing. I was just wondering whether you had got home today." His words openly rang with schadenfreude. "Did Uncle Hong beat you up again? Hehehe..." His laughter sounded particularly excited, seemingly he had imagined the scene already.

"I hate to disappoint you, but not today." Boyuan coldly snorted, his lips curved into a smirk. This little rascal constantly stayed in this state of mind, forever anticipating that he’d take a beating. Likely the only thing that could cheer him up was seeing Boyuan getting beaten up.

"Oh come on, I won’t laugh at you, just tell the truth." Hehehe...

Hong Boyuan grimaced, "I can hear your dirty laughter already." He sneered once again and continued: "On the contrary, my family received an important guest today. My father, my second uncle, and my aunt were all at the door to welcome her in the morning. There was no time to bother about me." Based on his understanding of his dad, he expected he’d be quickly forgotten once the dust of the moment settled.

After all, such a trivial matter could hardly compete with his grandpa’s health condition.

Tsk, tsk, tsk... He was rather brilliant today.

He complimented himself without any hesitation.

...

"Really?" Quite clearly, his words were met with skepticism from the other side. Xiao Feng knew very well who Hong Mingsheng was. He was like his own stubborn old man. It was hard to find someone in the vast Ming City who could make the entire Hong family go out to welcome them. Even his grandpa did not have such honor.

Hong Boyuan: "Your loss for doubting me." He couldn’t believe he was being doubted.

Xiao Feng: "...So, what are you doing now?" They should better not offer opinions about adult affairs since they did not understand them. Of course, he wouldn’t stoop so low as to understand those dirty deeds.

"Me?" Boyuan grinned, the corner of his mouth forming a handsome curve, "Walking a bird."

The truth was, it was Uncle Qiaozi who was taking him for a walk.

Upon hearing his reply, the other person fell silent. After a while, he spoke again: "What kind of bird are you walking?" He hadn’t heard about this guy buying any birds recently. He would believe it if he said he was walking a dog, but a bird... he was definitely talking nonsense.

Hong Boyuan chuckled, "Hartlaub’s Turaco."

Another long silence, then, after a short pause, "I just remembered something I forgot to tell you." He quickly changed the topic. This kid must be dying to see a Hartlaub’s duke, but, there were none to be found in the recent black market. Occasionally there were, but he had his issues with them.

One couldn’t really figure out his mind.

Hong Boyuan frowned; this lunatic clearly didn’t believe him. Well, if he didn’t believe it, too bad. He would regret it later. And they think he didn’t know they also had a liking for Hartlaub’s Turaco.

"What is it?" Not wanting to discuss this further, Hong Boyuan simply asked.

"You previously mentioned that Uncle Hong was seeking a famous doctor, right? I recently heard of a powerful medical practitioner." He was so highly spoken of, it was almost as if he could ascend to the heavens.

"Who?" His expression seemed utterly disinterested.

"All I heard was that his surname is Mu, and he is a divine doctor hailing from B City. Maybe you could go and look for him?" He had casually overheard this when his own grandpa was mentioning it a couple of days ago. But, he hadn’t paid much attention back then.

"You mean Mu Lin." He had just heard it earlier, Mu Lin was indeed from B city and was being hailed as a small divine doctor! Well, what a coincidence; unfortunately, he was a step late.

"I don’t know the full name." Xiao Feng shook his head. After all, he never paid any attention to these.

"It seems your source of information is somewhat late." Hong Boyuan laughed, "Do you know who my father and the rest personally welcomed today?"

Xiao Feng, proved to be rather sharp, "Don’t tell me it’s that Mr. Mu!" Things really happened fast.

"It’s a pleasure to inform you, your guess is correct." Boyuan heaved a sigh, "Crazy Xiao, it’s not that I am complaining about you, but don’t you know? Your grandpa told my grandpa about this information a couple of days ago. Tell me, have you been running around playing prank with your gang recently?" Truth be told, he wouldn’t even bother with the so-called friends that Crazy Xiao hung out with. These people knew no bounds, using their wealth and authority to cause trouble everywhere. Sooner or later, they’d provoke someone they shouldn’t.

Xiao Feng stayed silent, which confirmed Boyuan’s guess.

"You’ll end up harming yourself one day like this." If anything happened, the first person to be thrown under the bus would be him, and then, even the Xiao family might not be able to save him.

"Don’t worry, I know my limits." A soft voice issued from Boyuan’s ear.

"That’s up to you." Anyway, he had already warned him countless times and didn’t feel like repeating it anymore.

"Boyuan, I’m... not the same as you." Xiao Feng hung up following a self-mocking commiseration. Looking at his phone, Boyuan’s eyes held a complex look.

In fact, he didn’t think there was any difference between them.

"Aguda..." Just then, Qiaozi’s voice drew closer from above Boyuan’s head. His eyes regained their clarity and he reached out his hand towards where Qiaozi was landing, not wanting to dwell on it further.

Everyone had their own path to walk and he had no right to interfere, nor could he interfere. If one couldn’t understand this, then it was pointless.

"Qiaozi." Boyuan looked at Qiaozi who was now perched on his arm and called out to him. Qiaozi cocked his head towards him.

"You understand my words, don’t you." This was more of a rhetorical question since he had already realized from Qiaozi’s behavior earlier on that he was different from other Turacos. He was full of spirit, which made him like him even more.

Qiaozi nodded, the meaning in his eyes was clear.

You’re asking the obvious.

Seeing the contempt in Qiaozi’s eyes, Boyuan suddenly laughed. The remaining bit of depression in his heart gradually disappeared. He then continued, sharing his worries with Qiaozi, all about himself and... his matters with Xiao Feng, which Qiaozi found extremely... boring.

Uncle Qiaozi decided, he should have continued flying for a while longer.

Unbeknownst to Boyuan, everything he shared with Qiaozi today, things he thought only Qiaozi knew, would soon be known by Mu Lin.

Indeed, who would have thought that there existed someone in the world who could understand animal language.

Even just now, Boyuan thought that Mu Lin had overheard his conversation with Qiaozi, completely unaware that Mu Lin was actually communicating with Qiaozi.

...

Today was their second round of treatment; after it was done, Mu Lin and Qiaozi were sent back to their hotel by the nanny car. After all, Mu Lin was not the type of person who would be comfortable dining with strangers, and as far as he was concerned, everyone in the Hong family were undeniably strangers.

What Mu Lin was currently unaware of was the fact that back at the residence, someone was waiting for her.
