Chapter 1058: Chapter 710: The Nonsense-Talking Mu Lin (Part 2)
In the early morning, not knowing if it was because of Mu Lin’s less than courteous words previously, or because she was upstairs, the members of the Xue Family, although wanting to check on the condition of Elder Xue, did not dare to come up. At most, they sent the Xue Family butler upstairs to understand the situation.
It looked like these people were still somewhat wary of Mu Lin.
They had no choice, given her status and the fact that their family elder’s life was in her hands, what else could they do?
And so, early in the morning, many had already gotten out of bed, yet still didn’t dare to say much, at most they could only anxiously pace outside the door; then, the butler was reluctantly dispatched upstairs.
"Knock, knock, knock." The sound of knocking on the door.
"Come in." A cool voice spoke, and the butler opened the door, originally expecting to smell a strong scent of blood, but instead, there was only the faint fragrance of herbal medicine left inside.
Elder Xue was critically injured, and although the room was damaged, he could not be moved. Not wanting to smell the blood all night, Mu Lin had lit some herbal incense.
The effect was quite good.
"What is it?" Seeing the butler, Xue Wenjie asked subconsciously.
"Young Master, breakfast is ready. Would you and Little Divine Doctor Mu like to eat upstairs, or go down to eat?"
Xue Wenjie looked toward Mu Lin, "I almost forgot, it’s morning already." His eyes swept across the window, the sky was already bright; then back to Mu Lin, "Little Divine Doctor Mu, would you like to go down for some breakfast?" After all, she had been guarding here the whole night, and while he was tired, Mu Lin was a girl and probably even more exhausted, "After you finish, if you want to rest, I’ll have the butler prepare a guest room for you." It would be good for her to get some sleep here before returning to the Jing residence.
After all, it was all for their family’s affair.
Mu Lin stood up, "There’s no need for a guest room." But she could indeed have some breakfast.
Mu Lin was a bit hungry.
Understanding Mu Lin’s words, Xue Wenjie turned to the butler, "You take Little Divine Doctor Mu down to eat; for me, please bring mine up." He didn’t feel at ease leaving his father alone here, entrusting him to others, nor did he feel at ease; as a well-trained solider, he could hold on for much longer.
"Yes, Young Master." The butler nodded, then led Mu Lin downstairs.
At this point, the dining area was filled with quite a few members of the Xue Family.
It seemed there were mostly women; among them was one who had questioned Mu Lin in the middle of the night; of course, Mu Lin probably didn’t have any impression of her anymore.
Unlike the Jing family, the Xue Family had quite a few brothers and sisters; but as the saying goes, ’Among the nine offspring of the dragon, each is different,’ their character, of course, varied as well.
Without much politeness, they sat there and after asking about Mu Lin’s preferences, the butler soon brought over Mu Lin’s breakfast.
Without speaking, Mu Lin sat there calmly and leisurely ate, not paying the slightest attention to the staring eyes.
"Little Divine Doctor Mu, may I ask how my father is doing now?" Just then, a woman spoke, her expression gentle, her voice revealing a bit of caution.
She was probably startled by Mu Lin from the previous night.
Mu Lin looked up at her, and the woman smiled, "I am Jianbing’s mother, and the one who stayed upstairs last night was my husband." It was a kind of self-introduction, and also perhaps an attempt to curry favor.
Mu Lin put the last piece of egg into her mouth, chewed and swallowed it, drank some water, and then said, "He has passed the critical period."
Her gaze swept over the woman’s face; no wonder she felt somewhat familiar; it turned out to be Xue Jianbing’s mother.
A collective sigh of relief was heard.
As the pillar of the Xue Family, the members definitely did not wish for Elder Xue to have an accident; if something happened, their future would definitely not compare to other families.
For whatever reason, everyone didn’t want any mishap befalling Elder Xue.
However, the woman in front of Mu Lin truly sighed in relief, not for various other reasons.
After a pause, the woman continued, still with a degree of caution, "I wonder when we can go up to see my father?" In fact, the woman was also asking on behalf of others.
Because the others felt her son had some relationship with Mu Lin and her husband stayed upstairs for one day, it made the most sense for her to ask.
The woman herself hadn’t expected that bringing up her son and husband would actually be effective in Mu Lin’s eyes.
At least Mu Lin wasn’t speaking to them like she did the previous night.
As a family housewife who had always been gentle, the woman too breathed a sigh of relief.
Mu Lin looked at her, then swept a gaze over the several pairs of eyes on the side, before slowly saying, "Elder Xue currently needs to avoid noise, commotion, crowding... there are too many things to avoid. If you truly wish him well, it is better not to go upstairs for the next few days. If you do go up, Elder Xue won’t wake up so quickly either."
If he were to wake up, it would probably not be until tomorrow; Mu Lin was considering whether to let the elder come over tomorrow.
In reality, the matter of avoiding those things was purely Mu Lin talking nonsense.
After a pause, Mu Lin continued, "However, if you really want to take a look, then you should go upstairs one by one, without making noise or commotion, and follow all of Young Master Xue’s arrangements. I have explained everything to him."
What was left, was no longer her responsibility; Mu Lin was more or less waiting for Jing Chen’s phone call, curious how he would arrange things next.
