Chapter 1040: Chapter 697: Boss, There’s a Complaint
"Airplane!" a voice chirped with excitement and surprise.
"What airplane? That’s called a fighter jet," a little boy said proudly.
Girl: "How do you know?" full of admiration.
Boy: "I’ve seen it on TV." It’s so cool! If only he could get the chance to sit in one just once.
The boy’s eyes were filled with longing.
It wasn’t just the little boy—many people nearby, including adults, wore envious expressions. They never expected to witness such a fighter jet in real life; at most, they had seen them in military movies. Seeing one with their own eyes was indeed a different feeling.
Stunning!
"Principal, Principal, come look outside!" The usual quiet of the principal’s office was interrupted when a teacher, having seen the activity outside, ran in.
"What’s happened?" It was the first time the Principal had seen someone so panicked and dumbfounded, as if they’d seen a ghost in daylight, yet the expression was one of excitement, not fear. Driven by curiosity, she strode to the door and was instantly stunned by the sight that greeted her—so too were the self-satisfied couple following her.
A rope descended, and the first to appear was Mu Lin, looking the same as always, without even a safety buckle fastened, simply grabbing the rope and leaping down. His military uniform made him look heroic in the eyes of all onlookers, like a celestial being; Jing Chen followed closely behind.
After the two of them had landed, the fighter jet quickly flew away from the Kindergarten airspace, amidst the longing stares of the crowd.
Just like that, all eyes were on the two figures who had smoothly descended onto the center of the playground. People soon realized that these two were the parents of Jing Nuo, the man of the hour at their school.
So they were soldiers! Soldiers were respectable figures in many people’s hearts.
Their gazes shifted to the epaulettes on their shoulders.
Even though most didn’t understand the insignia, they intuitively felt that these were no ordinary positions. Some teachers had even started searching on their phones for more information.
The man and woman in front of them had left the teachers so shocked that they forgot to return the children to the classrooms for their lessons.
At the entrance of the Principal’s office.
"Aren’t these Jing Nuo’s parents?" The Principal had not anticipated such a dramatic entrance from Mu Lin and Jing Chen, an entrance that could have scared them to death.
Who exactly were they?
Soon, Mu Lin and Jing Chen appeared before the Principal. Mu Lin nodded slightly to the Director, "Principal."
"Mrs. Jing," the Principal nodded back at Mu Lin and then turned to Jing Chen, "Mr. Jing, I’m sorry to have made you both come all this way." They must have taken time out of their busy schedules to come, the Principal thought.
Otherwise, they wouldn’t have made such an entrance.
Jing Chen didn’t speak, remaining indifferent; the Principal smiled as if this was normal.
However, the aura emanating from the couple was astounding. The last time she had seen them, they had dressed in ordinary clothes. Mu Lin, in particular, had exuded a very comfortable aura. But appearing in military uniform this time, the effortless authority that radiated from them was unnerving.
The Principal had a soft spot for soldiers, as her own son had joined the service as a volunteer. When they spoke on the phone, he would often tell her about interesting things in the army and about his involvement in disaster relief efforts. Listening to the pride in his voice and seeing the photos he sent made her simultaneously worried and incredibly proud of him.
Oh my! The Principal had never imagined that Mu Lin and Jing Chen would have such a background. Cold sweat broke out as she realized how fortunate she was to have been looking out for Jing Nuo. If something had truly gone wrong, it could have spelt disaster for their Kindergarten.
With such backgrounds, it was no surprise that they inspired awe and fear!
She exhaled in relief subconsciously.
But while the Principal could see the significance, it didn’t mean that the nouveau riche couple beside her could.
People too proud to look beyond themselves, of course, fail to notice those standing above them.
And so...
"Are you the parents of that brat?" The man looked at Mu Lin with astonishment, then, coming back to his senses, questioned them.
With an icy gaze, Jing Chen stepped forward but before he could speak, Mu Lin stopped him with a nearly amused lift of his lips, though his attention wasn’t on the questioning couple. Instead, he focused on the Principal, "I believe we haven’t arrived late. I’d like to see my child first." Although he trusted that Jing Nuo wouldn’t have been bullied, they were still children.
