Chapter 1005: Chapter 671 The Wife is Spoiled by Pampering (Second Update)
"No, yesterday, I heard them mentioning a little boy," the middle-aged man suddenly said.
"Heard them?" Mu Lin looked at him, only to see him smile embarrassedly, "Actually, I happened to have learned their language, so I could understand their conversation."
The middle-aged man was actually very grateful that he had gone to learn the language years ago, because his company had many clients from there; now, he thought, maybe it was for this moment’s use.
Mu Lin raised an eyebrow, indeed quite fortunate.
After a pause, the man continued, "Yesterday, a woman appeared here, and she specifically came to take a look at us, the captives." Saying this, he snorted coldly, "It was then that I overheard their conversation."
Hearing the word "woman," Mu Lin and Jing Chen exchanged a glance, it must be the woman the comrade responsible for surveillance during the day had mentioned.
"What was that woman here for?"
"It seems she came specifically to inspect," the middle-aged man said, "The people at this base treated her with great respect, talking to her as if they were trying to please her." It was quite disgusting to watch, "I heard them say that their research is about to succeed, they’ve made a significant breakthrough and progress with that boy." Even more so, "They were discussing whether to bring in a few more children for research."
The actions of these people were simply outrageous! They were actually thinking of using their future as research subjects.
At this point, the anger in the middle-aged man’s words could hardly be concealed.
"Where are that thing and the child now?" Mu Lin wanted to confirm whether the child was dead or alive.
"Right to your side, behind there is a secret chamber that requires a fingerprint to unlock. In this base, only one person’s fingerprint works." It was the person in charge here, a middle-aged researcher who was even older than him.
Mu Lin turned to look at Jing Chen, and Jing Chen nodded, walking towards the direction the man had pointed out, the middle-aged man looked at Mu Lin, "Is it just the two of you on this operation?" He noticed that both Mu Lin and Jing Chen were in civilian clothes.
Could it be that they had actually stumbled in here by accident?
Mu Lin looked at him indifferently, "You’ll know soon enough," not planning to say more, then walked over to Jing Chen, "How’s it going?"
"No problem." Fingerprint identification was the easiest to break for a professional.
The almighty Lord Jing V587!
Leaving traces like a passing goose, they had been entering and leaving this place for a long time, extracting a fingerprint from here wasn’t difficult.
Sure enough, soon there was a click, and the secret door in front of them opened. Jing Chen carefully pushed the door open and entered.
It was a spacious room, and in the center, there was a large rectangular stone slab, upon which a boy was lying, quietly there. His faint breathing informed Mu Lin and Jing Chen that he was still alive.
But he looked almost like a dead person.
The two exchanged glances, and Mu Lin said, "You wait outside for me, I will go in alone."
Yet Jing Chen shook his head slightly, "I’ll go." Mu Lin disagreed, "You should know, it’s more convenient for me to go now, protect me from outside." His lips slightly raised, and the laughter in his eyes was filled with deep trust.
Jing Chen pursed his lips, silent, his eyes contained dissent, but he was helpless against what Mu Lin had said; because she was right, she was more suitable to approach the boy than himself.
At the Jing household, the most authoritative person was actually Mu Lin, then his grandpa, and he came third.
Lord Jing felt that he really had spoiled his wife.
His gaze vigilant, he watched Mu Lin’s direction without blinking, ready to prevent any crisis.
As Mu Lin stepped inside, she stood beside the boy, quietly observing his pale face which didn’t seem alive, her eyes thoughtful.
He should be older than her own child, but he looked even thinner and weaker than a child from their family, so frail that it stirred one’s heart.
But unlike the crazed people outside, the boy in front of him was unsettlingly quiet. Yet, looking at him, Mu Lin’s delicate eyebrows quietly knitted together.
Gently laying a hand on his wrist, her brows nearly furrowed into one, she instinctively looked back at Jing Chen, finally sighed softly, took off the long coat she was wearing, and then wrapped the boy in it before lifting him up. She brought him to Jing Chen’s side and handed him over, reminding him to avoid direct skin contact with the boy for the time being; Jing Chen nodded and took the boy smoothly.
Mu Lin: "Let’s move." Turning to look at the well-protected aqua-green liquid in the distance, Mu Lin spoke indifferently; there was no need to hide things any longer—she had found what she was searching for.
Though from the beginning to the end, they didn’t seem to be hiding much anyway.
Jing Chen nodded, his presence as cool as ever, "Ma Liang, begin the attack and secure all the evidence here; everyone else, move out."
"Mission will be accomplished!" Really, they nearly thought that their boss and sister-in-law had taken care of everything by themselves again.
Heroes without an opportunity to show their valor!
It felt like ever since sister-in-law came, sometimes there really wasn’t much for them to do—their boss became more proactive; and together, they were invincible!
Mu Lin turned and walked inside, standing quietly in front of that object, staring at the palm-sized liquid.
This was what they had exchanged so many lives for, wasn’t it.
On the other hand, upon receiving the order, the Ying Sun team, aside from those who needed to continue surveillance and Ma Liang, had every one of their dozen or so operatives springing into action.
At that moment, those who had tormentingly conducted research on others during the day were soundly asleep.
"Who’s there!" The chilly object on his head startled the person in bed awake. Just as he opened his eyes, he saw the fully armed person staring coldly at him, shock in his heart, "Who are you?"
"The one who’s come to send you off." The voice was cold and full of murderous intent. If it weren’t for the sister-in-law saying they should leave some captives alive for a good round of fun later, they could have easily ended them with a gun in minutes.
With a snort, "Get up, hug your heads, and squat in the corner of the wall." His tone was low and completely devoid of warmth.
The Ying Sun operatives in front of him seemed nothing like the person standing in front of Mu Lin.
The others quickly got up, their faces filled with fear, obediently walked to the corner to squat down, their eyes glued to the barrel of the gun, their bodies trembling.
They simply couldn’t understand how things developed to this state, why these people suddenly appeared.
These people must have been living too comfortably for too long, not realizing that doing evil deeds would one day be uncovered and they would have to pay the price they owed.
Not just the people in this room, but those in other rooms as well were being effectively restrained at this moment. Those dissatisfied, like Jing Youlan and Wu Ya, had given them several solid punches, not allowing them to cry out in pain.
Damn it, they really wanted to kill these pathetic losers!
Those who feared death, of course, had to obediently comply.
"Xigua, be careful, this woman doesn’t seem simple." In the earpiece, while attacking the other side’s defenses, Ma Liang warned; he had adjusted the daytime surveillance footage for review, and she was a dangerous woman indeed. If sister-in-law was a five-star level threat, then this one... probably rated three stars.
Unfortunately, there were no cameras installed in that room; the woman was too cautious, even selecting her room to be one that was not easily breached.
Most importantly, this woman at first glance seemed extremely dangerous and sadistic, likely even more so than the so-called family members here. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been in charge of them; someone who had earned the trust of a certain leader on the other side couldn’t be simple.
"Understood." Xigua nodded, his eyes vigilant, carefully opening the door in front of him. As expected, he was met with some kind of unknown powder. Xigua dodged it instantly, and the next second, a slim figure dashed past his dim vision. By the time he came to, he could only see a retreating figure.
However, the direction she was heading towards was where their boss and sister-in-law were.
Xigua’s lips curled into a cold smile.
He was indeed curious to see how she planned to steal anything from their boss and sister-in-law and escape.
