Chapter 83: Chapter 83 Destiny Has Already Provided Guidance
"Is this a bit too flamboyant..." Feng Xue looked at the clothes sent over by Jeston, a slight twitch forming at the corner of her mouth.
The clothes were indeed of high quality, it didn’t even require a touch, just one look was enough to tell that their design and cut were unparalleled by ordinary clothes.
But...
This was a man’s gown for a ball!
Although at first glance it seemed similar to an ordinary suit, the waist-cinching design, the flashy gold threads, the somewhat dazzling diamond-studded tie pin, and various complex laces, which she wasn’t sure whether to call lace or something else, screamed a style no normal person would wear.
However, compared to the prison uniform she was wearing, this garment was indeed much more comfortable, and just the inner lining material alone was enough to completely surpass any clothing Feng Xue had experienced in her past life.
"Doesn’t this outfit have some ’Comfort’ factors?" Feng Xue slightly adjusted the collar, and although the size was a bit large, it actually avoided the pressure the waist-cinching design would have caused.
Since there wasn’t a full-length mirror in the prison anyway, even though it was a ball gown, Feng Xue nonchalantly wore it as pajamas.
But even as pajamas, wearing such fancy clothes in prison did seem a bit strange.
Just as Feng Xue thought Jeston would arrange for her to go to a private cell of some sort, the secretary calmly turned and walked away, leaving her momentarily speechless.
"Isn’t it said that private prisons always have those special single rooms for the wealthy, like those resort-like lodgings at holiday resorts? Does Jeston think I don’t deserve one?"
Feng Xue muttered to herself, but what she didn’t know was that these private cells were mostly available in bustling city prisons. In a city like Saint Luton, known as a breeding ground for crime, even wealthy people going to jail would be directly extradited to prisons in other cities, an area where jailbreaks were commonplace and thus the prison naturally wouldn’t have lavish suites.
However, since the secretary had left, she couldn’t be bothered to say more—just sat on the bed, knees pulled up, wrapped in a blanket, and continued reading.
...
"The ’Identity’ tags provided have increased again, ten... no, probably about fifteen people."
Feeling the increase in ’Identity’ feedback from the tags once again, Feng Xue slightly immersed herself in the joy, meanwhile finding Jeston’s ability to maintain confidentiality laughable.
But upon further reflection, this really wasn’t something worth mentioning. Whether it was hunting illusions or creating magical items themselves, Jeston could not personally take part, and with the increase in participants involved, avoiding leaks would be difficult.
After all, everyone has one or two irresistible people or things. The moment Jeston started dealing in illusions, being investigated was not a surprise.
"To gain cognition of the ’Money Printer’ tag, you at least have to be sure of benefiting from it. In that regard, there should still be room for growth in this tag."
Feng Xue absently flipped through the dictionary in her hands, her mind, however, was immersed in the knowledge from the tags. The knowledge provided by this tag was no longer just about physical money printers but could now find information on finance, manufacturing, research, and invention—basically, any project that could make money, though correspondingly, it was also very chaotic.
"Compared to those items that could only expand one’s knowledge, the enhancements acquired from the two elements, ’Treasure’ and ’Manufacturing,’ were indeed substantial. If it were not for the fact that the current income was far from covering the daily expenses, Feng Xue would have liked to stay in Jeston Prison permanently."
"However, soon the hysterical wailing from the prison reminded him of his current situation. Having now mastered the ability to understand the prisoners’ language, he could clearly comprehend the desperate voices loudly proclaiming their impending disappearances."
"Unfortunately, to the prison guards, such cries were nothing more than unintelligible noise, indistinguishable from the usual shrieks of inmates experiencing mental breakdowns in their cells."
"This abrupt change felt like a cold shower to Feng Xue, jolting him from the joy of enhanced abilities."
"Yes, even with one or two elements, I am still just a ’nothing’ with nothing."
"Listening to the increasing screams from next door, and even as they began to forcefully pound the iron doors, attempting to draw the attention of the prison guards—who started cursing and even beating them with batons—the noises did not cease. Feng Xue suddenly felt that his previous joy was just like a slave delighting over an extra piece of dark bread."
"I must escape," Feng Xue muttered to himself. He picked up the bow-shaped dental floss dangling from his lips, casually threw in a few elements to try to generate some tags, but the next moment, he slightly zoned out."
"He stared at the object that had appeared on his lap, almost unable to resist pulling out a pack of salt."
"Taking deep breaths, he calmed himself down and slowly cut a strip from the towel wrapped around his handcuffs, carefully wrapped the sharp edge of the small item, and then pocketed it."
"Is this the answer destiny has provided me?" With the trivial weight of the item in his pocket, Feng Xue inwardly sighed. Having this tool, it seemed the original escape plan might need some minor adjustments."
"..."
"It’s been a while, my dear brother," a middle-aged man with an aura of haute societal elite greeted Jeston in the president’s office of Jeston Prison, smiling warmly.
"Loken, aren’t you conducting research in Norton City? What brings you to Saint Luton City?"
"Jeston looked at the man in front of him with a touch of wariness. Although this person was technically his second brother by blood, considering the attitude his eldest brother had demonstrated before, he was suspicious of the man’s intentions."
"I am just here because father asked me to check on you," the man named Loken replied, his tone unaffected by Jeston’s guarded demeanor:
"After all, you’ve sent him two rather nice gifts, haven’t you?"
"The old man certainly wouldn’t have sent you just to check on me," Jeston cursed inwardly but maintained a composed exterior, feigning ignorance:
"Is there a reward for me?"
"Perhaps Loken couldn’t really determine whether Jeston was genuinely foolish or merely playing the fool to strike a better deal, given his generally questionable intelligence. Nonetheless, thinking of the lucrative project in his foolish younger brother’s hands, he nodded:
"Yes, father mentioned you have a promising project here and wanted me to bring a team to assist you, given that all your subordinates are illiterate. My team will be more useful in conducting research."
