Chapter 339: Chapter 339: The Essence of Live Broadcasting Lies in the Script

Two hours later, in what used to be No Man’s Land Area 42, the tough-guy streamer Bert Wall sat perplexed, looking around in confusion.

The reason for the "used to be" was that at this moment, this place had lost all the elements that could define it as "No Man’s Land."

It was a process so baffling that even viewers who had seen the entire thing felt dumbstruck, it left professional demolition crews in awe, and even the architectural masters who designed Isgray City started scratching their heads.

They just watched as he fought and demolished his way through until when the dust settled, the entire No Man’s Land had not a single person standing or a building still intact.

Seemingly having finally figured out what exactly had transpired, Bert, perched atop a small mountain of "corpses," shivered and said with a face full of grievance,

"Like, do thugs these days not have friend-or-foe identification anymore? They killed each other before I even started... All eyes were on the fight, and the live stream is my witness, I didn’t throw any hard punches from beginning to end!"

[Yeah yeah yeah, I’ll vouch for that, it was the buildings that threw the first punch.]

[That’s right, we all saw it, it was the house that beat you up!]

[Exactly, exactly, the load-bearing columns turned into honeycombs on their own.]

[True, you just happened to pass by, it’s not your fault.]

[Right, right, it’s the thugs and the ghost hand that did the killing, nothing to do with you.]

Amidst Bert’s "defensive" claims, the shocked and bewildered viewers finally resumed their carefree spirit, starting a carnival, meanwhile, phrases that seemed exculpatory but increasingly questionable began to flow across the screen.

And it all crescendoed with the appearance of a rainbow-colored chat message—

[Dear host, this is Black Steel International Security Company. Considering your excellent breaching capabilities, we wish to establish a long-term cooperation with you...]

"F*ck, stop framing me, what breaching abilities? The full recording is right here, I did nothing!" exclaimed Bert.

While Mr. Bert vehemently denied his feats, it was at that moment an account with verified identity suddenly spoke:

[We thank the streamer for identifying the design flaw, and we will soon carry out a series of optimizations on the structural design of Isgray City.]

As this statement from the account dubbed [Isgray Architectural Association Official] was made, a flurry of messages erupted across the screen—

[Damn it, my tutor just sent me emergency homework to calculate how Area 42 was trashed...]

[Me too, and I’ve got to draw stress diagrams.]

[What about the modified blueprints? No Man’s Land has mostly been retrofitted; the original designs are useless!]

[Crap, I think I’m also in the architecture field, kinda scared to check my communications, what do I do?]

...

A group of viewers in the field of architecture lamented, but this just made other viewers more amused.

The joy and sorrow of people do not coincide; the thugs of Area 42 lost their lives, the owners of Area 42 area lost their fortune, and students and practitioners of architecture got more work. These people were but a minority, and for the vast majority of viewers, these ups and downs were nothing but a sprinkle of seasoning that made their amusement all the more real and tangible.

"Sigh, even a streamer gets tired. Now I’ve gotta find a reliable lawyer, so I’m signing off for now." Feeling the surge of "Identity" flooding in, Feng Xue abruptly went offline at lightning speed, leaving behind an audience that had just been reveling in the celebration, now staring bewildered at the dark screen.

Feng Xue, having done all that, looked at the new labels that had appeared by his name, his expression turning slightly complex.

Because what he had received wasn’t the desired "Lucky One" label but "Demolisher"...

"So it turns out I might have gone a bit overboard..." Feng Xuexin concluded as a lesson learned, jumping down from the mountain of bodies piled up. Thanks to the cybernetic era where artificial bodies were the average, a large part of this mountain was still alive. How long they would stay that way depended on when they would wake up, or rather, when someone would come to save them.

But based on Feng Xue’s understanding of the era, he believed it wouldn’t be long before newspapers, media organizations, and individual media creators would swarm in, so he didn’t need to worry too much.

He smoothly made his way into the lower levels of Isgray City, bypassing surveillance to switch identities, and arrived at the Black Thorn Ghost Hunting Agency. He took out his phantasmal phone and began editing the script for the live stream.

Live stream scripting is a troublesome matter, as its core lies in crafting a persona; however, it must also prevent the videos from becoming homogenous.

For instance, if you want to build a persona of a Martial Arts Expert, you naturally show off some Martial Arts. But if every video showcases Martial Arts, the audience will grow tired of it.

The key to a script is to maintain a theme while finding ways to inject fresh content into each new video.

Take Bert Wall, for example. His persona is Hard Mouth, Hard Fate, hard fists, and a sturdy demeanor, which means his script revolves around ghost summoning and brawling. For ghost summoning, it involves the audience being able to see the ghosts while he can’t. But if it’s the same routine every time, the audience will lose interest.

That’s why Feng Xue came up with the ideas of ghosts fighting ghosts, ghosts fighting people, performing rituals without seeing the ghosts, and other tricks to expand on the "invisible ghost" persona without exhausting the audience’s interest.

Dunn follows the same formula, with a persona of a straight-faced comedian who talks nonsense about ghost hunting. The focus is on him being serious while being funny, and his script focuses on the unique features of different ghosts, "educational" moments for the audience, and the variety in ghost hunting techniques.

As for the two ghost hunting agency employees, they are actually the easiest to handle because their features are all about promoting products. So, as long as the script is written around product promotion and linked to ghosts, it’s not difficult.

The hardest part pertains to Mr. Augustus.

His scripts suffer from the most homogeneity.

His persona is that of an iron-blooded tough guy, the kind you’d find as a protagonist in popcorn movies. If we’re honest, just adapting a Hollywood movie hero would suffice. But upon closer inspection, you’ll find that these so-called movie heroes also suffer from high homogeneity.

So the emphasis for him is on popcorn movie special effects.

However, the enemies aren’t arranged by him, meaning everything must be improvised.

Of course, this doesn’t mean Feng Xue doesn’t have to write a script; on the contrary, it’s precisely why he must—

Through crafting the right speeches, he needs to stimulate those with the ability to assassinate him but not so over-the-top as to alienate corporations and vested interests. His goal is to lure their assassins and achieve live-action filming.

Undoubtedly, this is a very difficult task. Aside from live streaming, Feng Xue spends most of his day on this, yet even so, not every Augustus speech encounters an enemy as anticipated.

"Should I take a risk and toy with the Red Banner Consortium? I’ve already upset them by putting down War Bishop; just need to fan the flames a bit more..."

Feng Xue was mulling over this when suddenly he stiffened, a spark igniting within him, and a new Kaidan entry emerged.

It’s just that...

"Well, I’ll be damned, this thing actually manifested first..."
