Chapter 127 Killing Intent
Chapter 127: Chapter 127 Killing Intent
Feng Xue was somewhat surprised by Vera’s reaction; he had imagined that Vera might panic and say she had never killed anyone, or she might boast arrogantly about how her hands were stained with countless blood.
But he had never expected her to answer so calmly, as if discussing whether someone had eaten dinner or not:
"Killed someone? Yeah, what about it?"
In that instant, Feng Xue finally understood the anomaly about this girl, or rather, he finally realized why he had been able to daydream even when she pointed a weapon at his throat.
"Why did you kill?" Feng Xue asked. Vera looked puzzled by the question as if she couldn’t comprehend it, scratching her head, she said:
"If we capture a Slave Catching Team in our village, we tie them up and let those who have never killed anyone do the deed."
"I see," Feng Xue said thoughtfully, as Vera frowned:
"What do you mean by ’I see’? Explain yourself!"
"It’s nothing, just a lack of education," Feng Xue replied, shaking his head lightly. "Normally, people are exposed from a young age to various teachings, both verbal and by example, to understand the difference between humans and animals and to develop the ’I am human’ cognition. You, however, weren’t given this education but were introduced to the fact of ’killing people’ first, which means you don’t quite grasp the significance of ’killing your own kind’ and ’depriving life.’ Not understanding this, naturally, you wouldn’t develop killing intent."
"I don’t understand," Vera said decisively, shaking her head. Feng Xue didn’t elaborate further but simply answered:
"To put it simply, you need to learn what killing intent is."
"What is that?" Vera only looked like a ten-year-old child at times like these. Despite thinking that teaching this girl might create a demoness, Feng Xue wasn’t concerned since the victims wouldn’t be himself, so he said without reservation:
"It’s the thought of wanting to kill a target."
"Do you have to learn that kind of thing?" Vera looked at Feng Xue with a puzzled face, as if looking at an idiot, but Feng Xue just smiled and said:
"You don’t need to? Then try really hard to want to kill me now."
"What does really wanting to..." Before Vera could finish her sentence, she suddenly froze in place, her little legs began to tremble uncontrollably, and her healthy rosy cheeks turned pale.
Her eyes showed a desperate look, as if she were drowning, and she instinctively opened her mouth to gasp for air, but it was pointless.
The sensation of being permeated by some force was merely momentary, but to Vera, it felt as if she had lived through endless years. Once the dangerous feeling slowly dissipated, she uncontrollably sat down on the garbage mound.
"What was that just now?" Vera climbed out of the garbage heap after a long while, approached Feng Xue, and looked down at this strange man.
Feng Xue looked at Vera’s facade of composure, slightly pleased with himself as he said:
"Killing intent, that is, ’the resolve to kill someone.’"
"You’re lying, right? If it’s about the resolve to kill someone, I can do that too!" Vera didn’t believe Feng Xue’s words at all, or to be precise, it’s difficult for any normal person to believe that just the "thought" could cause such trembling throughout the body and even make one unable to stand stable.
"Can you really do it?" Feng Xue gently shook his head, "Killing intent is not so simple, if I have to describe it, it’s a kind of resolution, a kind of rehearsal, it’s to ensure that when you really get the chance to strike, you won’t be confused. Since you want to learn the skill of killing, then you must learn killing intent, or else even a moment’s hesitation could turn you into the victim."
At this point, Feng Xue seemed to remember something and spoke indifferently:
"Of course, hiding your killing intent is a high-level operation, but it’s about concealing it, not completely lacking it. And for you, it’s too early to consider such things, just as someone who has yet to master the basics of swordsmanship thinking about how to win without a sword is premature. Even if you did learn it, it wouldn’t enhance your combat power at all."
"So, in summary, as long as I learn killing intent, I can learn powerful killing moves, right? Come on, teach me quick!" Vera stood beside Feng Xue, looking down at him with a position of superiority, completely devoid of the attitude of someone asking for help.
Feng Xue didn’t mind, for he thought of a somewhat constructive practice for the Life-taking Thirteen Swords, which might have been a benefit from gaining the [Instructor] tag. He didn’t know if it was worth a try, but he felt there was value in trying.
With that thought, Feng Xue slightly tilted his head, looking at Vera with hands on her hips, his eyes suddenly narrowing.
Almost at the same time, Vera seemed to have seen something terrifying, her legs gave out, and she rolled down from the top of the garbage heap.
"Ouch ouch ouch..." Vera, having grown up on a garbage mountain, quickly got back on her feet, rubbing the spot where she had hit, and glared at Feng Xue:
"What did you do?!"
"You asked me to teach you but you refused to dig me out, so how else can I teach you only being able to combat with consciousness while I’m like this? Or do you expect me to write a secret manual with one hand you dig out for me?" Feng Xue’s tone carried a bit of a challenging edge, but Vera didn’t take the bait and proudly tilted her little head up:
"Fat chance, let’s keep going as we are!"
"Then you better pay attention," Feng Xue entered a strange state, both still and moving, whether the enhancement of the meditation on his spiritual thoughts, or the effectiveness of "Engraving the Spirit Platform" by Bu Tian Ge on Divine Thought, or perhaps a Divine Skill he acquired after reaching the Divine realm. In any case, when he entered the meditation state, the attacks he envisioned could be felt by people in reality.
However, the move at present was just "imagination" and did not truly interfere with reality, but it was enough for fighting an opponent from a distance.
The moment he envisioned the first sword thrust in his mind, Vera instantly got agitated. This sharp girl immediately dodged the nonexistent strike, then "thwack," she fell to the ground.
It took a whole five seconds before she got up, looking confused and scared, touching her neck:
"Am I still alive?"
"Yep, after all, it was just killing intent, it can’t really kill you," Feng Xue stated calmly, but the girl clearly hadn’t recovered from the terror of death, it seemed the previous strike had indeed instilled a considerable amount of fear in her.
"Do you want to continue, or should I go easy on you?" Seeing that the girl hadn’t gotten over it for a while, Feng Xue seemed to feel a bit too harsh and immediately spoke up, but Vera shook her head determinedly, stood up from the garbage heap, and said loudly:
"Don’t go easy on me, keep going!"
No sooner had she spoken than she fell stiffly back into the garbage heap again.
"Hey, hey! That was a sneak attack, wasn’t it?" Half a minute later, having climbed back up, Vera covered her throat, which had no actual physical injury, and protested loudly in dissatisfaction, but Feng Xue responded indifferently:
"Sneak attacks are also a part of the art of killing, if you don’t like it, don’t learn it..."
