Chapter 210 – Encounter on the Plane
Benjamin had never seen his younger brother, who had always been outstanding since childhood, wear such a helpless expression. So the moment Richard spoke, his choice had already been made.
"Leave it to me, brother. Peter will be very happy here. Go do what you need to do."
He didn’t offer to help Richard any further, knowing that if there were something more he could do, the man wouldn’t have asked only for help with Peter.
"Thank you, Ben."
After his brother agreed, the weight on Richard’s heart finally eased. Then he pulled out another document.
It was the original share transfer agreement—proof that Luthor had given him five percent of LexCorp’s shares. He handed it to Benjamin.
"If LexCorp ever comes knocking, just return the shares. I don’t have the right to hold them anymore,” Richard said, letting out a long sigh.
Benjamin hesitated for a bit but ultimately couldn’t bring himself to ask the question that had been on his mind.

"Peter, we’re heading out now, okay?"
Not long after, Richard and Mary said goodbye to Peter, who was staying at Benjamin’s home. Then they got in the car and drove toward the New York airport.
"Richard, where did you agree to hand over the sample?"
"One hour from now. In the airport’s departure terminal."
"Got it."
The flight they booked was scheduled to take off in thirty minutes, while the handover was planned for an hour later. A detail like that would never slip past S.H.I.E.L.D.'s surveillance.
Even though the agency wouldn’t dare move openly in New York, things like flight records weren’t hard for them to track if they really wanted to.
Richard’s reason for doing this was simple: he wanted to send a clear signal to S.H.I.E.L.D. that he was trying to flee New York. He was forcing them to make a move.
Inside the city, they wouldn’t risk making trouble on LexCorp’s turf. So the only option left would be to take him down mid-flight.
"Let’s go, Mary. Let’s see how those bastards plan to welcome us."

They soon arrived at the airport, and just as Richard had expected, there were many agents hidden among the crowd. But since they were still inside New York, no one made a move. They simply waited for the couple to board.
Thirty minutes passed quickly. Their flight arrived, and Richard and Mary boarded without issue.
The second the plane lifted off, S.H.I.E.L.D.’s setup revealed itself.
Every passenger on the plane, except for the pair of husband and wife, was actually an agent. Once the plane had left New York airspace, under Rumlow’s command, they all approached the two.
"Agent Parker, we used to trust you. But this time, you’ve really let us down."
Richard let out a snort as he stared at Rumlow. "If I’d actually believed your crap and helped you, then I really would’ve died from my own stupidity."
"Hmph." The agent sneered at Richard’s mockery. "Let’s hope you don’t regret the choice you made today. Now, hand over the cosmic storm energy sample. Not that you really have a choice anymore."
As he spoke, Rumlow reached out to grab Richard.
But just as his hand was about to touch him, the man suddenly pulled open his suit jacket, revealing a glowing timed laser bomb strapped to his chest.
It was a weapon developed by LexCorp, already distributed to both the U.S. military and S.H.I.E.L.D., so Rumlow instantly recognized it.
If it exploded, the released laser energy would easily destroy the plane they were on.
Taking a step back, the agent exclaimed, "Richard, are you insane? You plan to take down the whole plane to be buried with you?"
Richard gave a cold smile. "Buried with me? Why not? It’s not like there are any innocent people here. Everyone on this plane is yours, aren’t they?"
Rumlow paused. He hadn’t expected that the very setup meant to keep everything secret would become Richard’s greatest leverage.
Based on his character, if there had been even one innocent civilian on board, the man would never have dared to pull something like this.
"I feel relieved to be able to take all of you down with me. I want to see what happens when the world finds out S.H.I.E.L.D. murdered a senior researcher from LexCorp. Let’s see if you people can handle that fallout!"
This was Richard’s full plan.
Even though he wasn’t part of LexCorp’s core inner circle, as both a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and a senior researcher at the company, he could see the clash between the two forces was inevitable. It was only a matter of time.
S.H.I.E.L.D. had been stalling and building up its strength for that day.
What Richard wanted was to use his own death to give LexCorp a reason, one that the world couldn’t ignore, to strike back.
He believed Luthor wouldn’t let that chance slip away.
With that in mind, Richard pressed the trigger and, together with his wife Mary, calmly waited for death to come.
But right at that moment, an invisible barrier wrapped around the bomb on his chest. The violent explosion released a surge of deadly laser energy—but it never spread. The entire blast was locked inside a small, clear forcefield.
"What is this?!"
Rumlow wasn't killed, but what he saw left him even more shaken. He had seen intel on this kind of energy before.
The one who could use such a power was none other than Susan Storm, the Invisible Woman of the Fantastic Four.
And sure enough, the next instant, the plane’s outer shell above their heads melted under intense flames. A massive stone figure burst through the opening and stepped into the cabin—Ben Grimm, the Thing.
With a single swing of his arm, he knocked down the surrounding agents like they were nothing.
These elite soldiers trained by S.H.I.E.L.D. immediately launched a counterattack, firing laser beams from their energy weapons straight at the Thing’s rocky body.
But his stone hide was far tougher than it looked. The lasers didn’t even scratch him. Instead, one by one, the agents collapsed in pain under his heavy blows.
"Damn it!"
Watching the scene unfold, Rumlow knew they couldn’t fight against the Fantastic Four.
If the Invisible Woman and the Thing were both here, then the Human Torch was likely flying just outside the plane, ready to strike at any second. Continuing this fight would only end in failure.
So, Rumlow locked his eyes on Richard, who was still stunned by the sudden arrival of the Fantastic Four. Taking advantage of the man's hesitation, he lunged forward and yanked the container holding the cosmic storm sample from his arms.
Then, without a second thought, he opened the plane’s emergency hatch and leaped out from thousands of meters in the air.
"No matter what, the mission must be completed!"
