Chapter 256: Bumped Into: Tipsy Era
***************
Chapter 256
By the time Era finished her meeting with the ladies, she rushed away towards the entrance of the palace’s main building.
She was already tired but more importantly, her body itched to see Vidor. She did not pay so much close attention to her surroundings as she searched for a quieter route to take into the palace.
The last thing she wanted was to come in contact with anyone she knew.
While staggering as she went, Era turned her head backwards to get one more glance at the entrance.
No sooner had she done that, than her body came crashing into somebody.
"Oh my..." She gasped and leaned down, trying to help the one who was on the ground.
Swiftly, the young man apologized with his head lowered, "I’m sorry."
"No need for that..." Those were the only words she could get out of her mouth and the next thing she knew, he scrambled on his feet and dashed off from her sight.
For the next few minutes, Era wondered if what had happened just now, indeed occurred.
Everything had transpired so fast that she could barely react on time.
Shaking her head, she tried to focus her attention ahead when something white caught her attention, forcing her to halt in her step.
Her brows knitted as her eyes narrowed on the ground. She was sure nothing was going to be lying on the ground there.
Not only that, but when she was walking, she did not notice anything of that sort before lying on the ground.
"Oh my, I guess he must have dropped it in a hurry," Era thought out loud as she bent down and picked up the folded paper.
Immediately she did, she turned on her heels, hoping to get a glimpse of the young lad.
Raising her eyes, Era was shocked to find no sight of him. Not even his shadow.
She pursed her lips into a thin line while inspecting the piece of paper in her hands. It wasn’t common for just anyone to have paper and judging from the outfit of the young lad, he was no Lord’s son or someone of wealthy status.
At that point, only one question rallied in her thoughts. ’What is such paper doing in the hands of a serving boy?’
And if that was the case that indeed he was a serving boy, then it meant he was on an errand.
’I can’t read this here. I need to be sure it is safe. Once I read it and confirm who it was sent to or from whom, perhaps I can easily help the person out.’
Finalizing those thoughts in her head, Era turned back once more and made her way to her chambers.
The day was still young and she had things to do but she never counted getting tipsy with her ladies. It was so unladylike to do but here she was, the exact definition of unladylike.
Even so, she paved her way through the hallways the best way she could while trying to hide her tipsiness till she was within the safety of her chambers.
Once in, Era slumped her shoulders down, releasing a deep breath as she kicked off her shoes by the door and closed the distance between the door and her bed.
"I need rest," she half exclaimed as her eyes and body sluggishly pushed forward. "But first getting to know the content of that..."
"The content of what?"
Her eyes flew wide open the second her ears caught wind of the familiar voice. Era turned around only for her gaze to meet with his figure at the corner of her chambers.
To be precise, he stood majestically by her wardrobe as though the sheet thought of his presence in her room wasn’t suspicious enough.
"V-Vidor-r."
"Do you still need to stutter the last syllable of my name?" His deep voice questioned and he took a step out from the shred of darkness that washed over him.
"I-I..." Era swallowed hard, wearing an awkward smile as she straightened her spine and got back her poise.
"No need for courtesy or for you to stand on ceremony, Era," Vidor reminded her.
A soft chuckle tore though the depth of his throat the next instant as he shook his head at her stiffness.
Unknown to him, Era was doing all she could to be cautious. The last thing she wanted was to put him on edge over anything.
If truly this was going to be something bad, she was going to consult Lord Damian to investigate it.
It was better getting facts than giving him false news, Era thought.
In his best interest, she did not want a situation whereby his enemies were plotting to bring ill omen to the fact that he made her Regent.
Letting out a deep sigh, Era tucked the paper properly in her shawl. All the while she tried to keep a calm front. Something she did miserably.
"Relax, love," Vidor encouraged her and closed the gap between them.
Now that he was out of the shadows, Era breathed out softly, taking in all of him.
Her cheeks puffed up just admiring his handsomeness and the beauty of a man she had come to dish out her heart to willfully.
"Huh... Umm y-you..." As though struggling to construct sentences wasn’t hard enough, she was meant to take in all of his uniqueness and not do anything.
Standing before her, in nothing more than his trousers, Era’s eyes feasted on his bare chest, strong muscles, toned abs and muscular arms.
Instantly memories from their night together came rushing back into her memories, forcing her brain to malfunction a tad bit and her mind to wander ever so.
"Enjoyed your day?"
"Hmm," she nodded slowly as her lashes fluttered ever so slightly. "Yes."
"Great. I almost thought you forgot how to speak or something was wrong from being with the ladies for long."
"No. You just had me speechless, Your Majesty."
"Strike."
