Chapter 255

All throughout that day, Era’s mind was left in shambles concerning the things that transpired between herself and Vidor.

Even though she wished not to think about it, it was all too hard to get his picture and the memories of that morning off her mind.

At this point, she knew if he decided to make love to her, she would have no restraints whatsoever and do as he wish.

Unfortunately for her, no matter how she thought of it, she could not wrap her finger around the idea of how one being could be so charming, annoying and deadly all at the same time.

He was a being she could not figure out the entirety of. He could kill without battling an eyelid but yet he was extremely gentle with her as though he held a porcelain doll.

In as much as Era wished not to take a step outside, she was forced to do the exact same thing that day as she had promised the Ladies of the court she would be in attendance.

On arriving at their meeting place, everyone greeted her with more joy and glee in their eyes.

For most, they were happy her favour with the king rose greatly to be considered his regent and not the former Lord, Caspian.

To make it even grander, they had a surprise party with more food, drinks, and a cake.

They went to the length of getting the local important musicians to play for them to give the party another vibe different from the normal boring music.

"Greetings, Ladies of the Court. Your majesty, Queen Era, distinguished invited ladies and gentlemen. I would love to start and open today’s meeting with these few words."

The smiles of the faces of the ladies brightened when Lady Savana rose to her feet to make a speech.

"Carry on," they urged her.

"Yes. On behalf of all the ladies here, and House of Tishba, I offer my sincere congratulations to you on your recent appointment."

"Thank you, Savana," Era dipped in her head too, accepting the lady’s meek bow.

"In honour of that, we decided to host you and make you feel special," Savana added.

"Yes. "Congratulations, your majesty," the other ladies chorused at the same time."

"Thank you. Thank you all for this."

"You are welcome, your majesty," everyone chorused.

"Since today is all about celebration, please no need for formalities. Feel free to enjoy yourselves to your heart’s content," Era urged.

Getting her approval, most of the ladies did indulge themselves and had fun.

Some of the younger ones danced to the local music freely, showing some hidden dance steps as they made merry.

All through her time there, however, her mind replayed the scenes of the previous night before her, moving down to that morning.

It was not like she had been completely left to herself that made her thoughts run free, no.

She had company, considering some of the ladies took their time and came up to her almost every instance they got,

In the end, Era could not count how many times she was made a toast to and had to drink more wine.

Sadly, that did not help her plight as the second they left, Vidor’s face and hot body appeared before her.

Standing at a balcony not so far from where they were, Vidor gazed down upon the scene like a God watching his creatures.

He kept his attention fixated on one person amidst the crowd gathered to celebrate her.

His eyes glimmered with joy and satisfaction just watching her enjoy herself.

And when he noticed how flushed she was, he felt she had enjoyed herself too much and maybe bathing in the sea of congratulatory messages and bashful comments.

"Your majesty," Ethan called out to him after some time. "Your meeting with the Minister of Agriculture is about time," he reminded.

Rather than heed the advice his eunuch was trying to inform him of, Vidor’s gaze lingered on Era’s face some more.

"Doesn’t she look enchanting smiling that way?"

He blinked severally but the more he stared at Era, the more he felt his breath was stolen and locked in her beauty he wished to be.

"Yes, she does," Evans responded calmly.

He did not need to bother with scolding the king or reminding him of his meeting.

Never had he fallen for a woman before and since he fell for Era, times like this when he stole a chance to gaze at her dreamingly was one not to be disturbed.

It was both cute and yet so dumb.

He was a king for crying out loud. If his enemies witnessed this and minded you, they will, his affection for her would become his weak point.

But knowing Vidor, Evans simply let him be.,

’You only live once in this life but if living ones would grant you that chance at love, then please love, your majesty. Life doesn’t have to entirely be filled with bitter woes, death and pain. Live a little like a mortal man.’

Taking a step further, Vidor’s lips parted slightly, admiring Era’s beauty even more.

"The softness of her lips and the glistening red on them make it more enticing and breathtaking. The way they feel when pressed against mine... Her soft body, the tantalizing nature of her being. Her silver hair gracing her brainy head..."

His voice trailed off, as a small smirk formed along the corners of his lips.

"Evans, if she is not the epitome of beauty herself, then I do not know what is."

At this point, Evans knew his king was far gone. He could no longer hold in his smile or pretend as he too let it all out.

"Indeed, your majesty. Indeed."

"I love her so much, you know. Never have I ever loved anyone this way, not even myself," he confessed.

"Then that proves your love is true and I am glad her majesty sees it and is returning your love too."

"Yes. She must be enjoying herself and I love that. Look, her smile remains the same and sometimes it becomes cutest when she is left alone," Vidor pointed out in Era’s direction.

"I see."

"Yes... Anyways," he averted his gaze from Era’s beauty and turned to his side where Evans stood with his head slightly lowered before him.

"I have a meeting. Sigh, I almost forgot because I was engrossed."

He chuckled lightly at himself and how much of a fool he had become.

"Lead the way, Evans."
